Chapter 1
1. For a Perfect Happy Ending
“Ugh…”
I stretched out my arms, which had become sore from the hard labor that had continued since dawn.
“Is it really over now?”
“Yes, all we need to do is top it with the cake.”
Upon the palace’s chamberlain’s dignified gesture, six palace servants, who were more robust than even the table, brought a gigantic wedding cake to me.
“Thank you for your hard work, Your Highness the Princess!”
It’s finally finished.
A massive wedding cake covered in fluffy cream and white flowers was placed in the middle of the Glass Hall, and exclamations sprang from everywhere.
“Wow, I’ve been in the palace for a long time, but this is the first cake I’ve seen that’s this magnificent!”
“Not just the cake, look at those decorations! It’s blinding!”
“And the food! I just went to the kitchen, and there’s a preparation of all sorts of delicacies I’ve never seen before!”
“They selected only the best ingredients from all over the country. The aroma is amazing.”
Then, for whose wedding is this?
Seeing the enthusiastic reactions of the palace servants, I felt proud, and a satisfied smile naturally formed.
I prepared this splendid wedding for Gabriel and my new sister with all my effort!
Sweat dripped down from my brow, but I didn’t care.
Of course, to my personal maid Colin, the sweat dampening my face at this moment was probably the biggest concern.
“Your Highness, I told you not to exert yourself! There’s no time, and your hair is a mess!”
Colin checked the time, tapping her foot anxiously.
“Sorry, I wanted to do it properly. You know today is an important day.”
“You need to go back now, wash up and get ready. Otherwise, you’ll be late for the wedding!”
“Okay, let me rest a bit. I’m too exhausted to even walk.”
Did I push myself too hard? Now that everything was done, I suddenly felt so drained.
“That’s why you should’ve rested properly!”
Seeing that Colin was about to scold me, I chuckled weakly, slumping like a mollusk.
“Ah, I’m exhausted…”
“Sigh, fine! You’re lucky you’re cute! Just 1 minute!”
“Hehe, thanks. Love you, Colin!”
With Colin’s permission, I took a deep breath and slumped into a chair.
‘Even though I made it… Ah, it’s breathtaking.’
A magnificent view that I couldn’t believe lay before me.
An artificial lake inside the hall had a small waterfall, and a few swans gracefully floated on it.
Gold and white silk draperies adorned the walls of the Glass Hall.
Dozens of birch trees placed in various places were installed with small flower-shaped yellow lights, which emitted bright light and added a sense of mystery to the splendid hall.
Not only that, the golden tableware and scattered leaves created an atmosphere reminiscent of a fairy-tale feast.
‘It was worth burning every bit of myself. Good job, myself.’
The dazzling result was born from pouring out all the skills I had from being a top-tier party planner in my previous life.
But all this hard work wasn’t just for a beautiful wedding.
It was the last weapon for the happy ending of the novel.
‘The two protagonists must consummate tonight to survive.’
Here, ‘consummation’ refers to the ritual on the first night of a married couple.
In this world’s setting, if the ceremony is followed, their powers can combine.
Wasn’t it described as a kiss after the couple shares their true feelings?
The place I’m in now is a romance fantasy novel titled ‘The Saintess of the Dawn’.
How I ended up here, well, for an obvious reason.
Died in an accident, then woke up here.
I used to mock authors for using such clichés, but now it happened to me.
Eventually, after many twists and turns, I became Princess Karena Leblanc, the younger sister of the Crown Prince, Gabriel Leblanc.
Right after my posession, I met Gabriel, who was clearly the perfect male lead.
Mint-colored hair that matched his refreshing smile, a body honed by martial arts, a kind but sometimes strict personality, and a brilliant mind, having graduated at the top of the Royal Academy.
Unfortunately, this novel is infamous for its shockingly sad ending.
Both the male and female leads are brutally killed by a fearsome villain, and the Empire collapses.
The shock was so great that there was even a national petition asking the author to write a new ending.
“Please change the cruel ending of the novel ‘The Saintess of the Dawn’!”
National Petition: 100,000 signatures
Of course, the author didn’t budge.
The author disappeared without writing a spin-off, a revised edition, no, not even the next work.
Literally vanished.
It is said that even the author’s family went out looking for him, but he disappeared without a trace. It was even featured in the news as an unresolved mystery case.
So, the ending of this novel remained unchanged.
At first, I tried to find a way to survive the horrible ending alone. I accumulated a considerable amount of wealth to leave secretly and even studied foreign languages, bride lessons, and diplomacy, thinking I might be sent to a distant kingdom.
But isn’t this pitiful protagonist couple constantly appearing before my eyes?
– Karena, I made it for you. It’s your favorite strawberry cream cake!
On my fifteenth birthday, which marked a year since I was possessed, Gabriel and Beatrice brought me a lump of dough they claimed to have made.
– Strawberry… cake?
With hopeful eyes, Gabriel held a strange large lump in his hand. Just then, I was with the Second Prince Liam, and right after being chased away by Queen Yuliana for my eye color being too unique.
No matter how outstanding my abilities were, there were times I wasn’t recognized just for being me, just like in my depressing past life.
That day was one of those days. Moreover, that day I was particularly humiliated by the Empress.
But…
‘This is a strawberry cake?’
It was the worst-looking cake I’d ever seen in both my past and current lives. Seeing these two innocent souls who went through the effort to make and bring it…
– Pfft!
I burst into laughter without realizing.
– What, are you mocking me? Disrespectful, Princess! How dare you mock the Crown Prince of this country, hmm!
– How could the Crown Prince do this to a cake? Wow, brother! This is sacrilege, haha!
Thanks to these two making a huge fuss, I was able to enjoy a fun birthday without feeling any depression.
– Sa-sacrilege… That was a bit harsh, Rena!
– Hahaha! Didn’t the Crown Prince turn the palace kitchen upside down this morning, Princess? The kitchen maids were in chaos. But given all that, maybe it still tastes good?
– No, Beatrice! You helped make it too. Why are you trying to back out now…
– Ah, our Saintess also participated in the sacrilege.
– No, Princess! Ah, Your Highness, when did I say I helped make it?
That must’ve been the time. That’s when I decided.
I’ll properly change the ending for these two people smiling brightly before me.
