Chapter 310: Chapter 310
It had been thirty days since Madara and Izuna began their hunt for the Tailed Beasts.
During this time, three incidents delayed their progress.
First, they specifically traveled to the borders of the Land of Water to seek out the descendants of the Yuki clan.
The other two incidents involved searching for the remnants of the Chikage clan and the Chinoike clan.
The Chikage clan possessed the Kekkei Genkai Akaigan (Red Eyes), which countered the Byakugan.
Unfortunately, Madara and Izuna found no survivors of the Chikage clan, as it appeared they had been entirely wiped out by the Hyūga clan.
This grudge dated back to the era when the Uchiha clan and the Hagoromo clan allied to oppose the Senju.
Madara had no idea how the Hyūga managed to eliminate the Chikage, but the result was clear—Byakugan had prevailed.
The search for the Chikage clan took a week, testing the brothers' patience before they finally gave up.
The Chinoike clan, on the other hand, possessed the Kekkei Genkai Ketsuryūgan (Blood Dragon Eyes).
The method of awakening the Ketsuryūgan was similar to the Sharingan, relying on strong emotional stimulation. Once awakened, its ocular powers were comparable to a basic Sharingan. Whether it could evolve further was unknown.
The abilities of the Ketsuryūgan also mirrored the Sharingan to some extent. Both were revered as "hypnotic eyes" within the ninja world.
Because of these similarities, some historical accounts speculated that the Uchiha and Chinoike clans might share a distant bloodline connection, akin to the Senju and Uzumaki clans.
However, the Ketsuryūgan had unique abilities, such as creating "human bombs" by using blood as a medium to cast various jutsu.
The Chinoike clan was an ancient and established ninja clan from the Land of Fire.
They refused to join Konoha not out of hatred for the Uchiha but because of pragmatic concerns.
The Chinoike clan feared that joining Konoha would strip them of any unique status, given the Uchiha's dominance in ocular techniques. Worse, it could even provoke animosity from the Uchiha.
When Konoha was founded, Madara and Hashirama's fame dominated the ninja world, and the Chinoike clan wisely avoided conflict with the Uchiha by remaining independent.
The clan's leader at the time harbored ambitions similar to Uzumaki Ashina's: to establish their own village elsewhere.
After Konoha's founding, the Chinoike clan continued to roam the Land of Fire, avoiding other countries and their ninja villages.
However, this situation changed drastically after Hashirama's death.
When Tobirama became the Second Hokage, he began purging independent clans within the Land of Fire.
The choice was simple: join or die.
Within a few years, many smaller clans, such as the Yuhi, Shiranui, and Hatake clans, integrated into Konoha.
Tobirama viewed the Chinoike clan, with their emotion-triggered abilities, as an even greater threat than the Uchiha and sought to contain them.
He tasked the Uchiha clan with imprisoning the Chinoike clan in the Valley of Hell.
Tobirama refrained from exterminating the clan outright due to the onset of the First Great Ninja War.
This twist of fate allowed the Chinoike clan to survive Tobirama's death and the end of the war.
During the war, the Uchiha clan had limited manpower to guard the Valley of Hell, enabling the Chinoike clan to escape.
After their escape, the Chinoike clan headed east, intending to cross the ocean and establish a new home in the smaller island nations.
In the original timeline, the Chinoike clan was intercepted by Konoha's forces, led by Danzo. They were captured and sent back to the Valley of Hell.
Danzo and Hiruzen had differing opinions on how to handle the clan.
Hiruzen favored a lenient approach, aiming to eventually integrate them into Konoha.
Danzo, on the other hand, sought to pit the Uchiha and Chinoike clans against each other, depleting both their strengths while studying the Ketsuryūgan.
While they debated, the Chinoike clan met their end in the Valley of Hell, wiped out by their own kin—a man later known as Enya Shiro, the future head of a mercenary corporation.
Now, with Madara and Izuna's activities spreading across the ninja world, Hiruzen and Danzo were too preoccupied to leave Konoha, fearing an attack on Mito and the Nine-Tails.
This fortuitous neglect allowed Madara and Izuna to encounter the Chinoike clan, who were preparing to cross the sea.
When the Chinoike clan spotted the brothers, they were initially stunned, then turned to head back to the Valley of Hell, assuming the worst.
Madara wasted no time and extended an offer: join Akatsuki and become his subordinates. He revealed that he and Izuna had been cast out by the Uchiha.
The Chinoike clan exchanged glances, their eyes brimming with joy, before kneeling and pledging their loyalty.
The clan revered strength, and Madara and Izuna easily became objects of their admiration.
The Chinoike clan's numbers far exceeded those of the Yuki clan, boasting over 700 members.
Madara and Izuna, however, were slightly troubled by the sight of so many glowing red eyes, akin to red lightbulbs.
"Nii-san, what do we do? Should we send them to Amegakure first?" Izuna asked.
Madara shook his head, a grin spreading across his face. "Too much trouble. We'll take them to Konoha directly. Didn't Dak say to make it as dramatic as possible? This should be dramatic enough."
"Ahaha! Nii-san, you're so wicked. I can't wait to see the faces of the Uchiha when they see these Chinoike clan members behind us," Izuna laughed.
"That also means we might have to kill Danzo in front of Konoha," Izuna noted.
"They won't have time to react before he's dead," Madara replied confidently.
Izuna trusted Madara implicitly, setting aside his worries about Konoha.
Instead, he turned his attention to the Chinoike clan's leader, Akizora.
Akizora, in his thirties, was as powerful as the current Hyūga clan head or Uchiha clan leader.
"Nii-san, Dak mentioned he suspects the Ketsuryūgan might also be related to Indra. Do you think they could awaken Mangekyō-level powers?" Izuna whispered.
"I don't know," Madara admitted, though the possibility intrigued him.
"Hmm."
Izuna glanced at the Chinoike clan members, finding them oddly familiar.
They reminded him of the Uchiha in their earlier days—calm yet slightly mad.
