Chapter 311: Chapter 311

Konoha, Hokage Office.

"Third Hokage-sama! The Chinoike Clan is heading toward Konoha!"

The previously quiet office was suddenly disrupted by the arrival of an Anbu ninja.

At this time, Hiruzen was not yet officially the Third Hokage but only a provisional Hokage appointed by Tobirama.

It would still be a few more years before he officially assumed the position with the support of senior ninjas like Mito.

However, the people of Konoha had already mentally accepted Hiruzen as the Third Hokage, and other villages had similarly accepted their interim leaders.

For instance, the Second Raikage had died so unexpectedly alongside Tobirama that A, the Third Raikage, had been forced into the role with no preparation.

"What?! Why are they coming back?"

The young Hiruzen widened his eyes in disbelief.

He didn't believe the rumors of Madara and Izuna's resurrection, especially since the reports mentioned their eyes weren't Sharingan. To him, it was likely someone impersonating the brothers, spreading false information to stir trouble.

Hiruzen and Danzo had refrained from stopping the Chinoike Clan's movements not only to protect the Nine-Tails but also to demonstrate to other villages that they were on guard against these supposed threats.

If they had pursued the Chinoike Clan, they risked not only losing the Nine-Tails but also being perceived as allied with the mysterious duo.

Why, then, would the Chinoike Clan, given such an opportunity to escape, return and head directly for Konoha?

"Could it be revenge? Do they plan to drag us down with them?"

The Anbu ninja's voice carried a tinge of concern.

Konoha's strength was currently at its weakest, with only Hiruzen and Danzo considered capable combatants.

Tobirama, Kagami, and many other strong ninjas had perished in the First Great Ninja War. Even Sasuke Sarutobi, Homura, and Koharu were severely injured and still recovering.

The Chinoike Clan, known for their ability to turn humans into living bombs, were essentially walking Explosive Tags.

Moreover, upon death, their blood would become a medium for their comrades to unleash secret techniques, amplifying the threat.

If the Chinoike Clan sought mutual destruction, Konoha would face catastrophic consequences.

"Gather all available chunin and jonin and come with me!"

In his youth, Hiruzen was decisive and unhesitant. He immediately donned his Hokage hat and set out.

Fifteen minutes later, three kilometers from Konoha's gates.

Hiruzen stood with a few hundred ninjas, staring in disbelief at the two figures before him.

"Madara… Izuna… Impossible!"

Hiruzen's eyes trembled as beads of sweat rolled down his forehead. He muttered, "Edo Tensei? But that's a flawed jutsu. How could they be revived like this?"

"Monkey… Weren't these two dead?"

Beside him, Danzo tightened his fists and swallowed hard.

Their terror was justified—they knew too much.

As individuals born during the warring era of Senju and Uchiha, Hiruzen and Danzo were all too aware of the brothers' grudge against Konoha, especially against their teacher, Tobirama.

They also knew the brothers' overwhelming power.

The battle between Madara and Hashirama in the Valley of the End had sent shockwaves felt even in Konoha.

Izuna, meanwhile, was the one Tobirama spoke of most often, acknowledging his formidable strength.

Hiruzen and Danzo had been certain that the duo responsible for capturing the Tailed Beasts couldn't possibly be Madara and Izuna.

After all, Izuna's body had never been found, but Madara's corpse was still in Konoha.

The sight of the brothers now, alive and well, left them utterly stunned.

So shocked were they that they failed to notice the large group of glowing red eyes behind the brothers—none of which belonged to the Uchiha.

"Wait… Are those really Madara-sama and Izuna-sama?"

"Didn't Izuna-sama…?"

"Look at Madara-sama's Mangekyō. It seems to have reverted to its original form."

"Wait, they've both been resurrected?"

"Is that the real question? Shouldn't we be more concerned that the Chinoike Clan seems to be standing on the wrong side?"

The Uchiha present, mostly chunin, were far fewer than their prime years.

Many of their elite had been sent to the frontlines by Tobirama during the First Great Ninja War, leaving the clan severely weakened and resentful.

Seeing Madara and Izuna again should have been a moment of relief and hope for the Uchiha.

Instead, the sight of the Chinoike Clan standing proudly behind the brothers left them feeling oddly betrayed.

"This is hilarious, Nii-san. Look at their faces!"

Izuna, maintaining his usual stoic demeanor, finally burst out laughing at the sight of the Uchiha's reactions.

"…."

Madara cast a helpless glance at his mischievous younger brother.

Izuna had always been straightforward—gentle to allies and utterly disdainful of enemies.

Clearly, the Uchiha no longer counted as allies in his eyes.

The Chinoike Clan members smirked smugly, holding their heads high as they looked down on the Uchiha.

'Your once-proud leaders are now our masters!'

The Uchiha, meanwhile, were seething.

"I want to punch those guys so badly."

"Right? They're just a bunch of prisoners. What are they even so smug about?"

"Madara-sama and Izuna-sama belong to us. Who do these Chinoike people think they are?"

"Ugh, don't call them the Chinoike Clan anymore. Call them the Minotaur Clan!"

"Long time no see, Tobirama's two disciples," Madara finally spoke, his Mangekyō Sharingan locking onto Hiruzen and Danzo.

Izuna turned to his brother, grinning. "Nii-san, should we take action?"

The tension among Konoha's ninjas instantly skyrocketed.

"Madara! What are you planning?!"

Hiruzen crouched down, summoning the Monkey King, Enma, while glaring at Madara.

This was the young Hiruzen, brimming with the Will of Fire and unafraid to fight to the death to protect Konoha and the Nine-Tails.

"What else? The Nine-Tails," Madara replied nonchalantly.

Danzo prepared to fight as well, his attention divided between Madara and the Uchiha behind him, whose loyalty he now doubted.

"Hmm."

At Izuna's signal, both brothers vanished from sight.

"Danzo!"

Hiruzen couldn't track their movements but immediately sensed their target—Danzo.

Without hesitation, he swung Enma, transformed into a staff, toward Danzo's side.

"Wha—?!"

Danzo hadn't anticipated being the target.

His thoughts were preoccupied with the Uchiha's next move, leaving him unprepared.

Bam!

Madara appeared between Hiruzen and Danzo, delivering a powerful split kick that sent both flying.

"Enton: Kagutsuchi!"

Izuna reappeared above Danzo, wielding a blade of black flames, and brought it down in a single strike.

Slash!

In an instant, Danzo's head was severed from his body.

Madara's strength rivaled Hashirama's, and Tobirama only bested Izuna after developing the Flying Thunder God technique.

Hiruzen and Danzo, neither at their peak, stood no chance against the brothers.

"Danzo!!!"

Hiruzen's eyes filled with rage and grief as he prepared to charge at the brothers.

"Dak got one thing wrong," Madara muttered, ignoring Hiruzen and instead focusing on Danzo's corpse.

"…"

Izuna said nothing, having sensed it as well.

Madara crouched down, rummaging through Danzo's belongings until he pulled out a glass jar.

Inside the jar were two bloody Sharingan.

The sight of the eyes brought an eerie stillness to the battlefield, even halting Hiruzen's hand seals.
