Pokémon: A Trainer Who Masters the Six Powers from the Start

Chapter 52: Chapter 52: Battle!!

Amid the anxious wait, Ron continuously adjusted his mental state, even preparing himself for the worst-case scenario: that Matthew and his team wouldn't arrive in time, while Kai's group would show up first.

This tension, the sense of stimulation, made Ron feel his blood boiling.

Especially when Persian, assigned to keep watch, informed him of the approaching Pokémon hunters, Ron's excitement reached its peak.

Strangely, the more excited Ron became, the calmer he was.

Even though he wanted to roar and charge forward, he restrained himself, calculating how to stall Kai's group while ensuring his own safety.

This phenomenon wasn't new for Ron. It had happened in his previous life, fueling his love for extreme sports, which ultimately led to his demise.

Since his reincarnation, these tendencies had only intensified.

Whenever Ron was overcome with fervor, an invisible force compelled him to calm down, analyze the situation, and strategize based on his current advantages.

Silently leaving his original position, Ron attempted to exploit the vigilance of the hunters, but Bellossom's Sleep Powder failed to take effect. If it had worked, Ron would've had more room to maneuver.

Despite faintly spotting Kai's group, neither Pandy nor Hemer made a move.

As seasoned Pokémon hunters, hardened by years with the Ghostvine Poaching Syndicate, they had seen countless individuals fall at the final hurdle.

It wasn't until Kai and his team regrouped with them that Pandy and Hemer finally exhaled in relief.

Deploying Houndoom and other Pokémon with exceptional scouting abilities, Kai's group quickly began their retreat.

By this point, the rangers should be close.

Even if Ron was hiding nearby, Kai wasn't keen to engage. His priority was escaping before the rangers arrived, as staying would only worsen their predicament.

As Kai's team retreated, the sudden sound of a trimmed tree trunk flying through the forest broke the relative calm, targeting Kai directly.

Blazing flames erupted from Houndoom, incinerating the trunk to ash before it could reach them.

"Go!" Kai gritted his teeth as he gave the command to retreat.

Kai's reasoning was simple: Ron's brazenness suggested his reinforcements were close. Any further delay would leave them cornered.

"Set the forest ablaze with our Fire-type Pokémon. Let's see if he'll prioritize saving it!"

After dodging two more incoming logs, Kai furiously issued new orders to his team.

The next moment, scorching fireballs erupted from their Pokémon, igniting the surrounding trees.

Despite the damp weather, the flames began spreading rapidly.

Kai's countermeasure was straightforward: force Ron and his reinforcements to choose between chasing them or saving the forest.

"Cease the pursuit. Extinguish the flames," Ron ordered reluctantly.

He hadn't expected Kai to act so decisively, leaving Ron with no choice but to focus on the fire. Allowing the flames to spread unchecked would be catastrophic.

Before Machoke and Persian could act, several Water Gun attacks doused the flames.

"Good work, Ron. Leave the rest to us!" Matthew's hearty voice boomed as the rangers sprang into action.

Forest rangers were responsible for protecting the wilderness, and many trained Water-type Pokémon precisely for situations like this.

With Water Gun attacks sweeping across the area, the fires were extinguished swiftly.

Not lingering, Ron urged Machoke and Persian to pursue Kai's group, determined to stop them.

Matthew delegated some rangers to extinguish lingering flames while leading the rest to follow Ron.

Ahead, relieved by their temporary respite, Kai's team picked up their pace.

Even knowing an ambush could come at any moment, the tension was unbearable.

Though the odds of a direct attack seemed low, the possibility of a suicidal counterstrike lingered in their minds.

Just as they began to relax, Machoke and Persian caught up, using Shave (Soru) to close the gap.

With reinforcements nearby, Machoke and Persian no longer held back.

Machoke launched Karate Chops at nearby trees, chopping them down and hurling them like spears at Kai's group.

Though lacking ranged moves, this was Machoke's best attempt at maintaining pressure.

Persian fared better with its Swift, using the attack to keep the group on edge.

Kai and his team couldn't ignore the declaration of war from behind.

Unleashing ranged attacks, they denied Machoke and Persian the opportunity to harass them further, focusing on their escape.

Realizing the futility of continued attacks, Machoke and Persian used Shave (Soru) to dash ahead and block Kai's path.

Combining Karate Chop with Shave (Soru), Machoke cut down trees with astonishing speed, creating obstacles that slowed Kai's retreat.

Unlike the brute force of Machoke, Persian took a more refined approach, hiding in the shadows to prepare for ambushes or assist Machoke.

Facing Machoke's improvised barricade, Kai's group finally entered its range of vision.

"Everyone, prepare! Hit it with ranged attacks!" Kai barked.

Several attacks targeted Machoke, who nonchalantly raised a middle finger before vanishing with Shave (Soru).

Fortunately, the distance was too great for control moves to hit Machoke, allowing it to escape.

Kai's group pushed past Machoke's blockade, only to encounter Bellossom's Sleep Powder and Poison Powder, set up as traps further ahead.

Though ineffective, the traps slowed their retreat.

After repeated delays, Matthew's rangers finally caught up, now visible to Kai's group.

Continuing to flee would only expose their backs to the pursuing rangers, leading to certain death.

"Kill a ranger, and you'll earn two Elite-tier Pokémon. Defeat a ranger's Pokémon, and you'll be rewarded with two of equal strength," Kai declared with a smirk.

Pokémon hunters, driven by profit, responded with an overwhelming surge of determination.

Their morale skyrocketed when they noticed the rangers' numbers were comparable to their own.

"Fight!" Matthew's command was concise and resolute.

Rangers, rigorously selected and trained, had long abandoned fear of death.

Against Pokémon hunters, there was only one response: fight!

At that moment, the battle between the rangers and Pokémon hunters reached its zenith, with both sides clashing fiercely.
