Pokémon: A Trainer Who Masters the Six Powers from the Start

As the referee concluded the explanation of the battle rules, Brock, the Pewter City Gym Leader, released his first Pokémon.

"Go, Geodude!"

"Battle ready, Bellossom! Use Magical Leaf!"

In Gym battles, the first Pokémon is often used to gauge the challenger's strength, so they're not usually the Gym Leader's strongest.

For instance, Brock's Geodude was only at level 27.

"Geodude, use Rock Throw to block the attack!"

Rocks flew forward, intercepting Bellossom's Magical Leaf.

"Bellossom, charge in and use Leaf Blade!"

With the initial Magical Leaf blocked, Ron ordered Bellossom to close the gap for a melee attack.

Brock didn't immediately issue a counter-command. Instead, he waited patiently for Bellossom to get closer.

"Now, use Magnitude!"

Suddenly, Brock's command echoed through the arena. Geodude clenched its fists and slammed the ground, sending tremors rippling outward.

"Bellossom, use Shave (Soru)! Leap and close in with Leaf Blade, follow up with Magical Leaf!"

At Ron's command, Bellossom executed Shave (Soru), transforming into a blur of green and vanishing from its original position.

"What?!"

Brock's startled shout came too late for Geodude to react.

Using Shave (Soru), Bellossom not only evaded the damage from Magnitude, but also closed the remaining distance in an instant.

Leaf Blade struck hard, sending Geodude flying, and Bellossom immediately followed up with Magical Leaf.

"Keep up the attack! Shave (Soru), Leaf Blade, Magical Leaf!"

Ron relied on a simple yet effective strategy, repeating a straightforward combo of attacks and adjusting them as needed depending on the opponent.

"Hold on, Geodude! Fight back with Hammer Arm!"

Summoning its remaining strength, Geodude tried to channel its power into its right arm, but Bellossom's relentless assault gave it no chance.

Leaping over Geodude, Bellossom struck with Leaf Blade, smashing it into the ground. Without hesitation, Bellossom followed up with Magical Leaf to deliver the final blow.

The type advantage of Grass moves proved decisive, leaving Geodude unable to rise again.

Defeating Geodude rewarded Bellossom with just enough experience to break through to elite-level strength.

"So you're using my Pokémon to train yours? Let's see if you have what it takes to back that up!"

"Go, Onix!"

As a seasoned Gym Leader, Brock immediately recognized Ron's strategy and released his second Pokémon.

Boom!

Onix's appearance caused the entire battlefield to quake.

Compared to the towering 9-meter-tall Onix, Bellossom, barely half a meter in height, looked like a mere infant.

However, in battle, size doesn't determine victory. Sometimes, a large body can even be a liability.

"Bellossom, Shave! Leaf Blade!"

The moment Onix emerged, Ron took advantage of the opening to launch an attack.

Brock, familiar with such tactics, immediately commanded, "Onix, use Dragon Breath to sweep across the battlefield!"

Forced to evade the attack, Ron called out, "Now, Bellossom! Leap and use Magical Leaf!"

Predicting Brock's response, Ron had initiated a feint with his first strike.

Though Brock had anticipated a second layer of strategy, Ron was already thinking five moves ahead.

As Onix unleashed its Dragon Breath, Bellossom leaped into the air, raining down Magical Leaf.

Even with Brock's quick reflexes, Onix couldn't react in time and had to endure the full brunt of the attack.

The quadruple weakness to Grass moves left Onix reeling, but it continued to fight for Brock's sake.

Bellossom used the opening to close the distance again with Shave, landing near Onix's massive body and striking with Leaf Blade.

"Onix, use Slam!"

Onix's massive tail lashed out, but Bellossom's speed, enhanced by Shave, was too much.

Bellossom darted across Onix's body like a green blur, delivering repeated strikes with Leaf Blade. Onix's large size, a hindrance in this battle, made it difficult to shake off the nimble Bellossom.

"Calm down, Onix! Use Dig!"

At Brock's command, Onix burrowed underground, forcing Bellossom to retreat to avoid being dragged below.

Once underground, Onix began creating noise to confuse Bellossom, attempting to force an opening.

Unlike previous challengers, Ron and Bellossom remained patient.

Ron instructed Bellossom to stay put, waiting for Onix to resurface. Having mastered Shave, Bellossom was confident it could dodge any subterranean assault.

Both sides waited, anticipating the moment that would determine the battle's outcome.

"Now, Onix! Rock Climb!"

The ground trembled as Onix erupted from below, attempting to crush Bellossom with sheer force.

As the ground shifted, Bellossom used Shave to dodge at the last second, reappearing just as Onix emerged.

"Now's our chance! Magical Leaf! Shave! Leaf Blade!"

Ron's rapid commands spurred Bellossom into action. It executed a flawless combo: Magical Leaf to weaken Onix, followed by a burst of speed with Shave, and a decisive Leaf Blade.

Bellossom landed gracefully as the green light of its blade faded.

Behind it, Onix stood frozen for a moment before collapsing in defeat, unable to overcome the relentless type advantage and Bellossom's agility.

"That was an incredible battle. This Boulder Badge is yours," Brock said, handing over the badge with a trace of regret.

Though he wished for more battles with a skilled trainer like Ron, his duties as a Gym Leader limited him, with other challengers still waiting.

For a brief moment, Brock considered resigning from his position to pursue greater challenges. However, thoughts of his siblings quickly brought him back to reality, and he instead offered Ron his best wishes for the journey ahead.

With the Boulder Badge in hand, Ron didn't linger in Pewter City. That very day, he set off to continue his adventure.
