Pokémon: A Trainer Who Masters the Six Powers from the Start

Chapter 47: Chapter 47: The Gym Battle

Nidoran lay on the ground, utterly exhausted, its eyes devoid of focus—a picture of complete fatigue.

Previously, after witnessing Machoke and Persian showcase their prowess during a riot, Nidoran had dreamed of its moment to shine.

However, Nidoran hadn't anticipated that its chance would come so soon, and the rapid pace left it utterly overwhelmed.

Ever since Ron proposed a reward of autographs or photos for the victors, Nidoran's nightmare began.

Facing its first opponent, Nidoran was brimming with fighting spirit and secured an easy victory under Ron's command.

But then came the second, the third... By the time it reached the end of its battles, the sheer number had left Nidoran stunned and drained, leading to its current state.

Now, Nidoran was akin to a "couch potato," muttering repeatedly, "I'm done. Just end me already."

Ron, feeling a tinge of pity, gently patted Nidoran's large ears, but couldn't help admitting it was all worth it.

With so many Trainers around, Nidoran had climbed to level 14 in just one afternoon.

If not for Nidoran's current state, Ron might have replayed the scenario in the morning.

Leaving Bellossom in charge of taking care of Nidoran in the room, Ron headed to the Pokémon Center counter.

Yesterday, after relaying his plans and requested resources to "Shadow," Ron received a swift response. The items were promptly delivered via courier.

Initially, Ron had imagined a covert exchange, even considering disguises, but Shadow took the most straightforward and open route for the delivery.

To avoid attracting attention, Ron wore a mask as he made his way back.

Once in his room, he eagerly unboxed the package.

Setting aside the high-quality Pokéblocks and Pokémon food, Ron pulled out several strange, jet-black items from the box.

Curious, Nidoran, having perked up slightly, crawled over to inspect the peculiar objects closely.

"Stop staring," Ron teased. "From now on, these things are going to be your constant companions. Trust me, you'll love them."

Without waiting for Nidoran's consent, Ron flipped it onto its back and began strapping the black devices onto it.

Back during the forest trials, Ron had even used rocks as improvised training tools to strengthen Machoke and the others.

Now that he was back in a technologically advanced society, it was only fitting to upgrade the equipment.

Using the recognition he'd earned recently, Ron managed to acquire some long-coveted training gear ahead of schedule.

Before long, four metallic rings were securely fastened to Nidoran's legs.

These rings, marvels of high-tech engineering, could adjust their size to fit the user and even modify their weight to provide tailored resistance training.

These were premium resources for Pokémon training, and their price was steep.

Thus, Ron had only requested seven sets—just enough for himself and his six Pokémon.

With everyone equipped, Ron commenced his morning training regimen: weighted running.

Adjusting the weights on himself and his Pokémon to a challenging level, the grueling workout began.

Running laps around the Pokémon Center's training room, Ron barely managed to keep pace during the first lap. By the second, the crushing weight had slowed him considerably.

Nidoran wasn't faring much better, its short legs working overtime just to keep up with Ron.

Ahead, Machoke and Persian—both boasting elite-level strength—maintained a much faster pace, appearing relatively unfazed.

For Ron, the rule of weighted running was simple: you could only stop when you physically couldn't take another step. This applied to his Pokémon as well as himself.

While this world didn't have the same superhuman potential as the One Piece universe, the people here were still much tougher than those in Ron's previous life.

With the added enhancement of Fighting Aura, Ron wasn't worried about his extreme training methods causing irreparable harm to himself or his Pokémon.

Beads of sweat the size of soybeans dripped to the floor, forming a thin layer of moisture that made the ground slippery and impacted their footing.

Yet no one complained. Instead, they worked to find balance and adapt to the conditions.

In battle, no one guarantees a perfect arena, so the only solution is to train until you can perform anywhere.

After an indeterminate amount of time, Nidoran was the first to collapse, followed by Ron, and then Bellossom, Persian, and finally Machoke.

Glancing at the time, Ron realized it was already past 1 p.m.

The intense training had dulled their hunger, but Fighting Aura helped Ron recover quickly. He was the first to rise, helping his Pokémon regain their strength one by one.

After freshening up back in his room, Ron finally had lunch at around 2 p.m.

That afternoon, to prepare for tomorrow's Gym battle, Ron kept things simple—Machoke and the others focused on refining the Moonwalk (Geppo) technique, while Nidoran began practicing Shave (Soru) from the basics.

Fortunately, the Pokémon Center's commitment to privacy allowed Ron to train undisturbed, away from the fans who idolized him.

The next day, upon arriving at Pewter Gym, Ron realized he had underestimated the fervor of his admirers.

Word had spread that Ron was in Pewter City, likely to challenge the Gym. Fans deduced that he had yet to face Brock, prompting them to gather outside the Gym, hoping for a glimpse of him.

As Ron approached the Gym, he noticed a crowd of people waiting outside, all eager to catch sight of challengers entering one by one.

For rookie Trainers, this kind of spectacle was often a nerve-wracking first experience.

Even if the attention wasn't directed at them, the pressure was palpable, leaving most visibly uneasy.

Only a handful with exceptional composure managed to remain unaffected. For the rest, the tension affected their performance, reducing the number of Boulder Badges awarded that day.

When his name was called, Ron swiftly stepped forward, presenting his Pokédex and number card.

Ignoring the cheers around him, Ron calmly walked into the Pewter Gym.

Guided by staff, he soon arrived at the battlefield, where Brock, the Gym Leader, was already waiting, prepared for their showdown.
