Chapter 78: But this man in front of her was obviously no fool (2)
As though he could tell Su Ran’s surprise, Lu Shao explained himself for a change. “I was across from you when you were giving a piano lesson at the Song’s earlier. I could hear it from where I was.”
“Your piano playing was very nice.” Lu Shao added after a slight pause.
Across from her and could hear the piano playing. That meant he was over at the male lead’s place.
That’s right. Wu-ma mentioned that Song ZeYu was meeting up with someone then.
So this was his guest.
Looking at Lu Shao, Su Ran sought through the original owner’s memory.
Anyone that the male lead was hosting at his house would either be a good friend of his or someone very important, but this person didn’t seem to exist in the original owner’s memory.
It was also never mentioned in the novel that Song ZeYu knew such a big boss.
Even with Su Ran’s awful observation skills, she could still tell that this was no ordinary man.
As far as that went, he was very different than Song ZeYu, who was described as having sword-like brows, graceful in style, and extraordinary bearing in the novel. Song ZeYu was made up of empty words from the novel, but this man’s imposing manner, on the other hand, was the real deal.
He didn’t need to say a word or do a thing. All he needed to do was just to stand there and he exuded the aura of one of high status and standards.
That has nothing to do with his age nor his look.
Eh. That being said, he was quite good looking as well.
Su Ran even felt that he was better looking than what Song ZeYu looked like in the original owner’s memory.
The three laws of a novel: The male lead was the mightiest. The male lead was the most handsome. The male lead was the most faithful.
She couldn’t opine on how faithful this man was, but it didn’t make any sense that there would be a man who was mightier and better looking than the male lead.
Was this a boss in a hidden side plot or that he only came into play after cannon fodder Su Ran was gone?
Su Ran pondered over that for a while. The more she thought about it ,the odder it seemed. Su Ran decided to put it aside for the time being.
“Thank you for your compliment,” said Su Ran, referring to what he had said to her earlier. Su Ran was never humble when it came to music.
“You have lessons with them every weekend?” asked Lu Shao. He didn’t have a lot of time today, but he could talk to her next week.
“No, this is my final lesson with them. I will not be coming over again.”
“Is that so. Okay, so let’s talk right now then,” said Lu Shao.
Su Ran: What could she possibly talk to the boss about?
“How much does it cost to hire you to play the piano? Do you charge by the piece or by the hour?” asked Lu Shao in detail.
Oooh, work came knocking?
Su Ran’s eyes beamed, and she almost accepted instinctively.
Then again, thinking that she had no idea what was his ties with the Song’s plus the fact that he lived in the poisonous Dongshan Mansion, she turned him down right away.
“I’m sorry. I have something going on at home recently so I am not looking to pick up any piano lessons for the time being,” said Su Ran.
Not expecting that Su Ran would turn him down point blank, Lu Shao was a little bit surprised.
“I am not looking for piano lessons but for you to play a few pieces for me. If there are conflicts in terms of time, I am okay with recordings. As for pricing, I am not sure how that works. But I can offer you three times what the going rate is. Give it some thought.”
Three times the going rate just to play a few pieces? Was that too good to be true?
Had this happened sooner, Su Ran would think that “a fool and his money would soon part.”
But this man in front of her was obviously no fool.
