Chapter 33: Chapter 28 A 'Sinfonia' of Aura in the Shadows
With James's spell separating everyone inside one of the rooms, a symphony of shadows and aura unfolded, the air crackled with tension as Daniel faced off against his adversary.
He found himself pitted against someone who could manipulate shadows and darkness. Mainly, he materializes them by giving them a tangible physical body. Apart from that, he has not shown any other special qualities. But Daniel continued to dissect his opponent's capabilities meticulously.
Without a word, the clash began. A silhouette in the darkness made the first move. The shadows began to morph into lethal tentacles around him.
The black tentacles that emerged from the darkness quickly shaped their tendrils into sharper ones. The deadly tentacles lunged forward, aiming for vital points, seeking to exploit any opening in Daniel's defense.
The Swordsman reacted, quickly infusing arms and eyes with aura and easily parrying the onslaught of sharp tendrils.
The enemy kept this relentless assault against Daniel. As he blocked the attacks, He deduced that in a prolonged fight, this would be over for him.
The expenditure from killing the last player paid its facture, leaving him with dwindling energy reserves. He will probably lose his energy reserves halfway through a battle of attrition.
In a risky and experimental move, Daniel used aura in his metabolism, accelerating it to gain advantages at the cost of more energy expenditure. Daniel hasn't discovered all the damage for forcing his organs, But Beggars can't be choosers.
With newfound swiftness, Daniel lunged forward. The shadow manipulator aimed to impale him before he got within melee reach, only to meet against Daniel's sword, whose swordsmanship demonstrated being enough to deter the tendrils.
After getting close enough, his blade gleamed in radiance as he aimed for the shadow manipulator's heart, but the enemy proved to be more agile than anticipated. Undeterred, Daniel changed the target to a more feasible one.
Daniel pierced the enemy's shoulder with a swift, powerful strike. Even if the enemy dodged the first attempt, The aura gave him a faster reaction time, allowing him to hit him even if he escaped the initial strike.
Now, on the offensive, Daniel relentlessly started pushing him back. The tendrils were rendered useless against him at his persistent approach.
In a desperate attempt, the shadow user formed a wall of darkness to halt the swordsman's advance. By the moment Daniel destroyed it, he was far away in a safe position.
After that clash, the shadow manipulator instinctively knew this fight was going to be a frantic one. "This guy is not saving any energy to buy time. It's all or nothing against him. If not, I might die today." Thought the enemy.
Daniel's mind raced a simple plan. He will fake missing an attack, then throw an aura slash. The enemy's durability isn't high. A surprise attack might be enough to take him down or change the tide in his favor.
With that plan in mind, he went forward. As he got closer, the enemy wasn't stupid and sensed something wrong. Without wanting to risk his life, He opted to play his trump card.
With no elaborate incantation nor signs, the enemy stood in position, muttering the simple word, "Void."
Daniel's world descended into complete darkness. His sight plunged into total blackness, and an eerie silence replaced the sounds of the battle.
He was stripped of his two primary senses. They were turned off as if they had a switch. Now, a total black abyss filled his two primary senses. They couldn't detect anything, he even tried to infuse them with aura, but it didn't work.
Without warning, a sudden sharp pain jolted through his left shoulder. A reminder of the ongoing battle. Daniel responded instinctively. Quickly, he calculated where the tentacle would be, cutting it.
"Shit, This-" Without giving him time to catch his breath, the tendrils kept attacking him. Daniel, blinded and deaf, couldn't deflect the incoming attacks, so he started to run mindlessly in the place.
How can I overcome this? His left arm is now unusable, and bleeding to death with all these wounds is not of question.
Not knowing anything about this ability makes it hard to approach. Does it have a timer? Or consume some kind of energy? What else can it do?
Then the answer hit him. Something so simple, reckless and stupid that it might work. It worked for Dante, so why shouldn't it work with him too?
Daniel's legs concentrated huge amounts of aura as he randomly ran in the darkness, barely managing to dodge the attacks.
His breathing calmed down... Ignoring the pain, he temporarily cleaned the mind of any distraction. What he is about to pull off is quite dangerous.
In a moment of intense focus, Daniel's blue aura erupted, filling the room with luminous particles visible to the naked eye. The room became an enchanting display. The spectacular view wasn't for mere show.
Even if the aura isn't inside him, there is still a connection between them. Now, with the room full of aura, it became like his eyes and ears, allowing him to pinpoint the enemy's location.
Without further ado, the accumulated energy in his legs got to work. The sudden surge of strength invigorated his body. "NOW!" With a powerful jump that carried all of his strength, Daniel aimed at his enemy's head.
He had only one chance to inflict lethal damage. Repeating the same feat is impossible. The energy cost is too high, leaving him vulnerable after using it.
In a decisive moment, Daniel unleashed a barrage of strikes. Unable to keep up, the shadow controller found himself on the defensive. The clash of the sword and shadow shield echoed within the place. Harmonizing with the symphony that surrounded them.
That was until Daniel could feel how the blade's edge met a different resistance. It wasn't a shadow tentacle. What he slashed was flesh.
Daniel exclaimed to the air, "It worked..." The Swordsman felt physically and mentally overwhelmed. His muscles trembled in fatigue, and slowly, a sensation crept in. He surrendered to it, falling to the floor.
With his arms feeling heavy, The darkness in the room began to dissipate, showing the lifeless body of the shadow manipulator. The money for killing him appeared, so Daniel knew he wasn't faking it's dead.
But now he had a major problem. His breathing became heavier... He isn't the only one who managed to assert a hit at that critical point.
The adrenaline that had kept him going during the fight slowly subsided, leaving him feeling drained and depleted.
Daniel started to feel more dizzy, with his mind clouding, becoming difficult to focus. The swordsman could only mutter a low "Fuck... "
Authors note:
First of all, I hope you enjoyed the chapter. It took me a whopping 6 hours to make this chapter. (1 hour searching synonyms and words)
Second of all:
FRANATIC CHAPTERS!!! HELL YEAH!!!
The next 4 chapters are going to be PURE INTENSE RAW FIGHTS. (AND I'M GOING TO UPLOAD A CHAPTER FOR 4 DAYS STRAIGHT! if nothing goes wrong...)
In my opinion:
James's fight is going to be the best, and in 2nd place is Thalassa. (I'm between Su Yuan and Daniel's fight being the worst out of the 4, but JUST MY OPINION)
ALSO!
If you can try to share this fan-fic, The Idea is so silly that if he has enough patience, he might read one of the most bizarre (in a good way... I hope) shits on this platform.
ALSO a not-so-funny meme for my friend Gabriel: (Gabriel, click on this comment.)
