In The Abyss As A Toon Character

Chapter 32: Chapter 27 The Aftermath of the Pegasus' Actions

The oppressive atmosphere hung heavy with a sense of impending doom. The players had already faced many life-and-death situations before, but this time was different. It wasn't a fight... If that monster were to wake up, this would be a one-sided massacre.

The thought of it filled them with overwhelming dread, making them feel like little insects watching how their insignificant life was about to end by accident. This profound feeling didn't only extend to their enemies., Dante's friends were also ensnared by it.

In the deafening silence that followed, Daniel was the first to snap out of the shock. He already knew it was his friend, so he didn't hesitate. Even so, the shock stunned him.

The enemy stood still, rooted in place. They barely managed to get in a defensive position. Losing two of their strongest members crippled their morale. One had the incredible ability to stop time, and the other was their main battle mage.

Covering his hands and legs with all the aura possible, Daniel urgently rushed to their position. He must kill someone before the shock wore off. If not, This battle will be a 4v6 that doesn't look too favorable for them.

Despite knowing that using all his aura would cripple him in the long run, it was the most effective action right now. What's the point of caring about your future if you can't even survive this day.

With the impending threat in front of him, the enemy's senses returned, and he barely managed to raise his sword to defend himself.

As soon as they clashed, the enemy's sword fell from his hands, clattering to the ground.

Daniel quickly tried to impale him, but just as he was about to strike, the enemy recovered with lightning-fast reflexes. Dodging the attack and going for his blade.

As the enemy gripped his sword, Suddenly a robotic appeared out of nowhere and bit his leg.

The robot had a color palette similar to Thalassa's, the only difference being that it was cat-sized.

Thalassa's metallic voice echoed, "Gotcha," as the mechanism inside the robotic cat activated, discharging a massive torrent of volts inside the target.

The enemy player fell charcoaled and incapacitated to the floor. Dante capitalized on this, cutting his head with a swift strike.

The cat had come out of nowhere, and everyone wondered where it had come from.

To understand this, you first need to understand Thalassa. Her ability is 'Electrokinesis,' but being a robot allows her to harness it completely differently from normal living beings made of flesh and bones.

After unlocking this ability, Thalassa changed her body to be more compatible with her electrokinetic powers. Her metallic frame was replaced and now is designed to utilize her electrokinetic powers to their fullest potential.

With the main threat eliminated, Thalassa and Daniel's target changed. The robotic cat's mouth opened, revealing a cannon aimed at the more weak-looking player.

The cannon shot a laser beam that followed its trajectory until it was stopped by a shield made of darkness.

A curtain of dust settled with the impact. Using it as a distraction, Daniel reorganized, informing his friends of what happened.

"4v5... Our probabilities still are low," he stated, glancing over Thalassa's. He wasn't so surprised about the robot recovering. He was actually surprised that she wasn't the first.

Unlike the others, Thalassa didn't go into a state of shock. Thanks to her robot physiology, she temporarily suppressed her emotions and feelings.

However, the problem was that her senses got overwhelmed, and she needed time to recover. After recovering, she stood still, silently observing how Daniel sprinted to the enemy's position.

The robot decided to fake being in shock, hunting for an opportunity. They might be paralyzed, but any sensorial input might wake them up. Even a corned rat will bite back.

The dust curtain completely disappeared. With the first 5 seconds passed, everyone regained their composure and got in position. Even if it was terrifying, they were still players who had months of experience. The shock ended as just a minor setback.

Su Yuan decided to fortify their position by setting string traps, creating a designated "safer zone" beside Dante.

As for James, he is already tired from prior battles. Before he joined them, he had to run away from a group of players. Despite his fatigue, he has enough strength to deter any attacker.

With the odds against them, Daniel decided to take a risky plan. In the group chat, he quickly wrote, "Since we don't know that much our teamwork isn't going to be the best, So let's divide this fights into 1v1's instead of a team fight."

Knowing they were at a disadvantage, Thalassa asked, "Who is going to take a 2v1?"

...

No one responded in the chat. This turned into a 4v5, so someone will have to take care of 2 enemies simultaneously.

After seeing no one volunteer, she made up her mind. "Then I'll take it... Acordding to my estimations I have the more chances of surviving."

James chimed in with his support, "Gladly, try to stall for time if the situation is bad."

Su Yuan asked, "But how are we gonna turn this into 1v1's?"

James, confident in his abilities, responded, "Leave that to me, My mana reserves are back I just drank another mana potion." He took a pause, worriedly muttering at himself, "At this point, I'll get 'Mana saturation syndrome.'" ending with a small sigh.

With the plan in place, he took a deep breath, beginning the incantation, "Grand Finale... The Great Gate of Kiev,"

As he spoke the arcane words, a symphony of musical notes erupted from James's back. The flurry of musical notes started to circle around him, and then the orchestra started... A majestic tone filled the air, evoking a sense of grandeur in everyone. Its fast and lively tempo, complemented by the robust brass section, gave it a powerful, resonant quality.

If a musical prodigy with a keen ear was nearby, he would recognize that this piece is being played on an E-flat major, but that didn't matter.

With the maestro ready, the spell was triggered, and a towering fortress materialized around them, separating everyone into different rooms. The only way to leave their assigned room was to defeat the gate's guardian. Which at this moment, Dante's friends were the guardians.

Authors note:

Why did an experienced player get a shock? Well, that's because of what the motherfucker almost did.

Dante almost did a "With this treasure I summon."

Simply put, he was going to transform into an upgraded version of that character in exchange for his life and blah blah.

He couldn't for two main reasons.

NO.1: He won't die this soon. NO. 2, HE LACKED EVERYTHING TO UNLOCK IT.

FF:

Most of the names James will use are going to be ACTUAL classical pieces. (only a few pieces will be fake.)
