In The Abyss As A Toon Character

Chapter 111: Chapter 101 A pariah gone awry

The world did as she told, erasing their distance and pulling back the confused players toward Katley. Missiles screeched above, looming over, but before they could strike, the ground beneath them erupted with sharp, monstrous teeth.

The place where the players had stood moments ago was engulfed by the giant maw of an abyssal creature, swallowing the missiles and everything that existed not leaving even the ground.

The lines Dante had drawn during his dodges, all those small lines and abstract doodles, that didn't carry any seemingly plausible meaning, had suddenly leaped to life in the middle of the combat.

One of the Limit breakers mumbled, "Are you sure we can go with 'Bird on a Cage'? Because this..." His eyes focused on the heart-shaped iris that fixed on him in the dust. "Thing... Doesn't seem that will fall to our basic strategies."

Dante, having the advantage, produced an old-fashioned camera. He aimed it at the group, then *FLASH* a harsh white light burned their retinas and sensors. A photo appeared in Dante's hands, and without hesitation, he tore it in half.

The air screamed in agony as reality shattered, fracturing into little seams, cutting everything in its path where Dante had torn the photo apart.

Orion's voice buzzed in Katley's ear again, "Katley, I'm switching to heavy artillery. Half my light rounds are useless, and the other half barely scratches her. What the hell did you drag me into?"

Katley barely found time to reply, her attacks had to be coordinated with everyone else so they weren't useless, "She's geetting tired and I just found her by sheer coincidence-" Not letting her even write the full message, the pink girl was already in front of her face, ignoring the others.

She knew that breaking any concept to protect herself was useless, so she continued to be a pester, "Position!"

Instead of trying to get away, she instinctively pulled the brawler and assassin back toward her, with a third new figure appearing beside them. It was something amorphous, a mass of white goo that quickly tried to adhere to the two fighters.

Inside Dante, something old, something primal, stirred. "P R O B L E M A T I C," a rasping idea, clawed its way into the core of his soul, violently scraping the edges of his mind with an urgency that felt savage.

Dante's expression contorted, his face twisted as a void of hate overtook him, his features liquified into total darkness; his entire being seemed to merge into a single black humanoid form with a nightmarish mouth-- A blood-red, vicious smile stretched across the darkness that had once been his face.

He tossed his real gun aside, raising his left hand like a gun. His two main fingers pointed toward the goo, and as it started to extend its tendrils, Dante's red smile twisted, widening with a sick, dreadful delight. "SMILE!"

Then, with a flick of his fingers, *BANG*

A crimson mist.

That's the only thing that was left in the place.

Each and every one of the limit breakers reorganized their thoughts at such a sight. All of them instinctively took a step backward away from the girl and neared Katley.

...

Somewhere in their minds, the thought repeated with grim clarity, 'She was dead. Katley was here, but... she was dead.'

Dante's hate mask shattered as he choked, breaking his throat in an attempt to vomit a black, inky substance. Dante made sure to eliminate the new threat. His senses told him that whatever it was capable of was dangerous, and the best course was to spend a big chunk of his energy to instantly kill it.

Katley's team, though still ready to attack, had all come to the same chilling conclusion "This pink-haired demon was more than your average aspect. She was deciding NOT to kill not because she couldn't but rather that thing didn't want to spend much energy, it wanted to be sure it COULD kill everyone."

Katley's loss was already a big loss; if anyone else died, then it might not be so much of a problem, but 1 of the 2 symbionts died. Her thoughts churned as she thought about what to do with this new information, 'FUCK! She probably can only do it a few times, which means this aspect can at least instantly kill 3 of us.'

Katley constantly erases her death to evade any problem. But erasing death is excessively costly; she is already overstraining herself to the point where some of her passives are activating, and having to erase everyone's death is simply screaming to be killed.

Wait... Didn't she already erase death once?

That was an exception; she temporarily erased the death of Exa (The katana guy) until he could regenerate by himself, but erasing everyone's death was something that, unless the world would shatter into pieces, was ALWAYS out of the question.

Katley yelled loudly, grabbing everyone's attention, who was already getting into a new formation. "CHANGE OF PLANS!" Her voice still echoed loudly, but she wasn't screaming anymore, "Initate 'mirror image' for the next minute, after that change to 'Ace buster' EVEN if it's quite costly."

"Instant death!" Katley's ability could use words that used up to more than 2 words, but they had to be A CONCEPT or make sense; she could be as detailed as a big white curly bichon frise near the age of 4 with a golden necklace and black eyes.

That specific type of dog will stop existing temporarily, so her ability has great potential only if the user knows the right way to use it or words.

"Space, Resistance, Direction, Balance, Pressure, temperature, Light, Smell." She coughed blood and forced herself to finish with, "Sound..." The stress from erasing so many concepts in such a rush and such a large quantity began to tax her. Yet, she needed to ensure no one else died, even if that meant completely sacrificing her offensive capabilities.

Authors note:

Aren't the limit breaker getting a lot of bullshit done?

I mean, maybe because of how you are meeting a limit breaker, but they are the assassins you call when normal assassins don't work.

This is the equivalent of calling the SWAT team WHEN NORMAL SWAT TEAMS CAN'T HANDLE A SITUATION.

Even the love version has constant problems with this group.

And the hate one decided to join one to evade any trouble.

Also, fun fact!

Limit breakers were gonna be called Hyenas (Dante's fight against them is similar to a lion fighting a bunch of hyenas)
