Chapter 110: Chapter 100 GUNS GUNS GUNS!

The gauntlet warrior's legs felt heavy, sinking as if the ground itself had turned against him. His eyes turned downwards and saw the problem.

Coiling tightly around his boots, the serpentines stopped his attempt at moving away, turning it into a slow, suffocating effort. He could feel them pulling him down, robbing him of his speed, binding him to the earth like a prisoner.

Katley hadn't noticed this. Her attention was focused entirely on trying to regain control over reality. She had overlooked the harmless-looking confetti because reasserting her dominance over the battleground was by far the most important priority.

Meanwhile, the warrior, trapped by those fluttering, colourful chains, wanted to scream-- needed to scream-- His body was shielded, sure. His incredible armour was forged with the mission of resisting the impossible-- For shrugging those with a lot of power and reality-bending spells.

But...

This wasn't magic.

This wasn't something mystical that defied logic nor some chaotic force of the cosmos breaking through his defences.

This was... a gun.

He stared down the barrel of Dante's weapon; each one of his choices began to flashback. All the planetary-shattering blows he'd endured, the otherwordly monsters he bested-- None mattered now. A gun didn't care about metaphysics.

It shot, and it killed... Simple and mechanical.

The warrior's mind raced as time slowed. 'This is how my history ends? I already expected a non-magical gun... I wonder if Katley can salvage something out of me...'

*BANG*

...

...

...

"I am alive...?"

The bullet that Dante shot got intercepted by an energy beam, "GET YOUR LAZY ASS OUT THERE! AND STOP HIDING! Katley's sharp voice snapped through the air as she yanked another artifact from the system, fully recovering control, "DISTANCE!!!"

In the blink of an eye, the warrior was gone, whisked away by her command. A figure materialized with gray Sunday clothes, his shoulders slouched and head tilted in a lazy manner.

"They don't pay me enough for this…" the newcomer mumbled, with an apathetic tone. He stood lazily, with two futuristic guns hanging loosely from his hands. Yet, despite his indifferent demeanor, there was an eerie focus behind his eyes. His fingers twitched over the triggers, and a pale, shimmering aura rippled around him.

Without another word, he flicked his wrist. The barrels of his guns split into five, revealing a deadly set of muzzles. The air around him thickened while his hands blurred as many afterimages of the gun were created.

"Metralleta."

A cataclysmic flood of energy burst from the gun's muzzle like a relentless barrage. Each beam was a streak of light so intense it cut through the air with a sizzle, turning everything into vapor.

The lethal beams converged on Dante's position with relentless precision, disintegrating anything they touched without any mercy.

Dante's eyes narrowed. 'Dangerous...?'

He didn't want to test his resilience against the upcoming storm. With a blink, he teleported out of the way, gleaming into existence far across from the battlefield as the beams scorched the earth where he'd stood just moments before.

He reappeared, already thinking ahead. His eyes darted toward the horizon, 'SNIPER... WHERE?' Dante mused, watching as the remnants of the energy blasts dissipated into the sky. He couldn't close the distance to the sniper... Not yet. Something strange kept pulling him back, as though reality wouldn't let him teleport too far.

Whenever he thought about teleporting to him, his body strained itself to send him to a place that didn't exist. So, for the moment, he had to deal with the troubles in front of him.

Because... Dante stood in the eye of the storm; the frantic attacks of 6 different players flew in and out, brushing past, with their weapons slicing through the air, grazing him, and even breaking pieces of his hair or clothes but never connecting.

His face remained unnervingly blank. Not a flicker of emotion crossed his features as he evaded each frenzied attack with critical precision. Even with the chaos of the combat raging, Dante's eyes never left Katley's lips.

Katley's fingers twitched as she fought to keep control of reality itself. 'eight of us', and yet Dante still pressed them like it was nothing.

She could feel Orion's robotic voice rattle in her skull, "Katley, your plaything... She's somehow localizing me. She hasn't pinpointed my exact coordinates, but if you don't distract her now, I will need more than a body change."

Kate clenched her teeth and shot a reply back. 'You'll be fine. The eight of us are already here. Just stick to the Ace Buster Protocol. We'll see how this plays out.'

Even if she was speaking with someon, the frenzied battle never stopped and out of Dante's shadow, a gloved hand silently reached towards him. It inched closer, with his fingers curling to seize him from behind. But Dante wasn't having any of that; before it could even graze his clothes, a lightbulb illuminated the place.

*POP*

With a sharp, comical pop, the pink girl's shadow disappeared, eradicating the shadow assassin's way of attacking.

Seeing this action, the assassin wasn't deterred. From a nearby rock, he burst forth again, aiming his twin daggers at Dante's exposed back. The strike came in fast, but Dante moved effortlessly in a tight circle, spinning just out of reach so the blades slashed nothing but thin air.

The assassin's form dissolved into ink, splattering the ground. As he disappeared, the shadow beneath the gauntlet warrior warped, twisting unnaturally until a trio of shadowy wolves emerged.

They were jet-black with glowing white eyes. Quickly, they began moving with eerie coordination, positioning themselves in a triangle with the pink girl at the center of it.

"DISTANCE!"
