To the Valkyries of the Immortal Blades, Lady Durandal was undoubtedly their unwavering faith.
Whenever someone challenged the Glorious Knight Moon Essence, barring routine attempts, they would pause their training to observe the battle.
So far, only three individuals have succeeded:
Xia Chen, Rita, and Wendy.
Rita accomplished it on her first try; Xia Chen attempted multiple times, succeeding twice, while Wendy faced numerous failures before finally achieving victory by sheer luck once.
In terms of spectacle, Xia Chen's battles were most thrilling with his relentless, impactful strikes, eliciting cheers from many Valkyries. Naturally, when the Valkyries learned that someone from the Far East Branch was challenging the Glorious Knight, they assumed it must be Xia Chen again.
However, they were surprised by the unfamiliar name:
Kiana Kaslana.
Someone suddenly recalled, "Kiana Kaslana...isn't she Cecilia-sama's daughter?"
The group of Valkyries exchanged glances.
For them, the name Kiana wasn't entirely unknown.
Cecilia Schariac, the former strongest Valkyrie of Schicksal, held a legendary status etched in their memories. Before confronting the Second Honkai Eruption, she bore the fruit of love with Siegfried Kaslana—her child named Kiana Kaslana.
Her name was Kiana Kaslana.
However, ever since Siegfried defected with Kiana, her name had rarely been mentioned. Moreover, Valkyries typically have short careers, so they only pieced together the significance of this name from fragmented tales shared by their seniors.
Listening to others' discussions, Ana couldn't help but feel astonished. "No wonder when I visited Saint Freya Academy before, Senior Theresa told me that Kiana was just a distant branch of the Kaslana family."
She never expected Kiana to hold such a remarkable identity.
Daughter of a hero and Schicksal's traitor.
Fortunately, Rita calmly interjected, "The one sought after by Schicksal is Siegfried Kaslana, not Kiana Kaslana. In fact, Lord Bishop personally arranged for Kiana Kaslana's enrollment at Saint Freya. Please do not jump to conclusions."
It was crucial to clarify this misunderstanding, as it could otherwise tarnish the future reputation of Lady Theresa and disrupt the Lord Bishop's plans.
But...
Rita glanced at Durandal, concern etching her brows.
If Lady Durandal knew about this... how would she reconcile with herself?
Durandal wasn't concerned with Kiana's identity; her focus was singular.
It was to become stronger and combat Honkai.
Thus, regardless of who challenged her on the Memory Battlefield, she would always accept. Even if such battles didn't significantly improve her skills, encouraging the Immortal Blades through these encounters still achieved her goal.
But could it be just a coincidence?
Durandal couldn't shake the feeling that this Kiana seemed familiar somehow.
"Rita, have I met her before somewhere?" She voiced her intuition candidly.
To Durandal, if there was anyone she trusted without reservation, it was Rita.
Rita's expression remained unchanged. "Perhaps you encountered her during the time when Lady Durandal lost her memories. After all, Rita has not been by your side continuously."
"Hmm, true." Durandal nodded.
"Please contact Principal Theresa for me later," she requested. "I'd like to inquire about Kiana's background information."
"Yes, Lady Durandal."
Under the expectant gazes of the Valkyries, the battle commenced.
They weren't surprised by Lady Durandal's immense strength, but they were curious to see if Kiana had inherited the skills of the former Head Valkyrie of Schicksal.
Cecilia was a legend, and now it fell upon Kiana to carry on this legacy of glory. Could she live up to it?
Of course, none of these thoughts crossed Kiana's mind at that moment.
All she felt was an endless wave of pressure bearing down on her.
Although the technical department had significantly weakened the Glorious Knight, Lady Durandal faced their enemy with full force, holding nothing back.
However, while such overwhelming presence might intimidate others, it only spurred Kiana further.
"The way of the Kaslana knights knows no retreat."
"Neko Charm!"
Amidst various complex expressions from the spectators, Kiana engaged her armor's auxiliary functions to steadily close the gap between herself and the Glorious Knight.
Most Valkyries saw this as a self-inflicted challenge, well aware of Lady Durandal's exceptional prowess in close combat.
To their surprise, as Kiana closed the gap with the Glorious Knight, she managed to block its relentless onslaught using hand-to-hand combat techniques.
It's important to note that the Mark-III Valkyrie Armor is lightweight, designed for adaptability but lacking in defensive capabilities. As such, A- and B-rank Valkyries typically rely on firearms as their primary weapon.
Despite some limitations, guns allow them to maintain distance from enemies.
Yet here was Kiana enduring the Glorious Knight's attacks head-on, showcasing her remarkable physical prowess.
"How should I put this? She truly lives up to being Cecilia-sama's daughter," Alvitr chimed in, echoing Susannah's sentiment.
At this point, Kiana had yet to achieve any notable feats, so her perceived glory was attributed solely to her mother's legacy.
Not just these two, even Ana likely thought the same way.
However, Wendy saw it differently. She could sense Kiana's resilience—a quality not inherited from one's parents.
Unaware of the murmurs around her, Kiana engaged the Glorious Knight using what Himeko deemed "utterly unstructured" Marksmanship Arts, holding her own briefly against the formidable opponent.
But only briefly.
Despite Kiana's impressive talent, her firearm lacked the power to easily pierce through the Glorious Knight's sturdy shield.
And once it activated its Phantom Module, she would be completely defeated.
"Seriously?" Defeated, Kiana grumbled. "The Fourth-Gen Valkyrie Armor is just too overpowered—it's practically an A-rank Valkyrie on its own."
On the sidelines, Theresa shook her head. "The armor may be powerful, but correspondingly, the Valkyrie wielding it must bear that burden as well. Thus, the armor itself can be seen merely as an extension of the user's strength."
"When am I finally going to get Moonlight?"
"It'll still be quite some time—at least until you become an A-rank Valkyrie... And your theory grades need to pass muster, too," added Theresa.
Kiana sighed helplessly. Passing theory grades...
It felt like a more daunting task than defeating the Glorious Knight in the Memory Battlefield.
"Auntie, isn't there any compromise?"
Emerging from the Memory Battlefield, Kiana clung to Theresa's arm and whined.
Mei approached them from the side.
"Kiana, did you get hurt?"
"Nah, there's no danger of that on the Memory Battlefield."
She quickly abandoned Theresa and turned to Mei. "Next time, I'll definitely defeat Durandal!"
From the side, Bronya chimed in matter-of-factly, "Bronya suggests Kiana set her sights lower—for example, lasting five minutes against Durandal."
Kiana fell silent.
"You're such a buzzkill, Bronya," she grumbled, a hint of confusion lingering in her eyes.
The Glorious Knight Durandal... It carried a familiar aura.
