That night, Kiana had a nightmare.
In it, a voice told her everything about her was fake.
She wasn't Kiana Kaslana.
Her identity was fabricated, her lineage artificial, even her name belonged to someone else.
The shrill, piercing voice seemed etched deep within her soul.
With a start, she woke up.
The sky outside was still dimly lit, but Kiana couldn't fall back asleep.
"How could I be fake? So annoying, seriously." She sighed heavily. "Can't sleep now—this is so irritating."
Suddenly, she heard movement outside her room.
Opening the door, she saw Mei preparing breakfast. Clearly, she would head to the training room afterward.
"Mei?"
Kiana couldn't resist walking over and asked, "That smells delicious! You're up early, Mei."
"I've always been waking at this time," Mei smiled warmly. "On the contrary, Kiana, what brings you here so early?"
"I couldn't sleep."
"Another nightmare?"
"Yeah." Kiana nodded honestly.
Her dreams could practically be written as a second life narrative.
Mei comforted her instinctively, "Let me guess, did you dream about Xia Chen again?"
"No, not this time." Kiana shook her head, paused briefly, then shared her dream involving Sirin with Mei.
Of course, she was unaware that she herself is Sirin.
Pouting slightly, Kiana continued, "It's terrifying; that voice kept saying I'm fake. How can I possibly be fake, huh?"
Mei smiled reassuringly, "Perhaps it's just due to exhaustion lately."
"The breakfast is ready. Would you like some, Kiana? Then go back for more rest afterward."
"You're heading to the training room later, Mei?"
"Mm-hmm." Mei nodded.
In recent times, she had grown accustomed to spending long hours at the training room, leaving early and returning late.
Xia Chen's high standards significantly influenced Raiden Mei. Now, hesitance was rarely seen in her demeanor, replaced by increasing assertiveness.
Instantly, Kiana chimed in, "Then I'll come along too."
With a charming smile, she said, "Sometimes, you should also spend time with Mei."
Mei couldn't help but grin; she had become entirely immune to Kiana's playful remarks.
After quickly finishing their breakfast, they headed towards the training ground.
At this hour, Xia Chen hadn't arrived yet, but Fu Hua was already present there.
Kiana remarked casually, "I thought Xia Chen would be one of those always early at the training ground. Surprising he's even later than Mei."
Mei shook her head and replied, "Xia Chen and Class Monitor Fu Hua both emphasized the importance of rhythm."
"It's not about how rigorously a warrior trains; otherwise, Shenzhou wouldn't have the saying 'haste makes waste'." Mei imparted wisdom from Fu Hua's teachings to Kiana.
"Finding your own training rhythm and maintaining a regular routine is crucial. Simply pushing yourself too hard without rest won't make you an exceptional fighter."
Kiana stuck out her tongue, feeling slightly overwhelmed. "Sounds complicated."
However, she agreed with these words. For instance, waking up too early now left her feeling quite tired.
Noticing Kiana's fatigue, Mei whispered, "Find a spot to sit down and rest for a bit. You still have theory classes this morning, Kiana, so no more sleeping during them."
Kiana could only laugh awkwardly.
For her not to fall asleep during theory classes was akin to asking her to resist eating Mei's homemade fried chicken legs—an impossible task.
Mei couldn't help but shake her head, seemingly acknowledging it as too demanding for Kiana.
"I'm going to train now."
"Okay."
Kiana watched Raiden Mei depart.
However, at that moment of separation, a sense of reluctance unexpectedly surfaced within her heart. It felt like losing something incredibly precious. Suddenly, she had the urge to hold onto Mei and keep her by her side, much like a child unwilling to let go of their favorite toy.
Fortunately, she managed to suppress this desire.
"Kiana?"
A voice caught Kiana's attention, making her instinctively cautious.
She saw Xia Chen dressed in his usual training attire, greeting her warmly. "It's rare to see you here at this time. Are you accompanying Raiden Mei today?"
Xia Chen wasn't particularly close with Raiden Mei; they weren't on a first-name basis yet.
As Kiana observed Xia Chen thoughtfully, she experienced an inexplicable sense of familiarity upon seeing him again today. She couldn't quite place it. His presence both frightened her and drew her irresistibly closer. The origin of these conflicting feelings remained a mystery to her.
She couldn't quite pinpoint the source of this familiarity either.
"Kiana?"
Xia Chen called out to her again.
"Oh, sorry." Kiana shook her head, "I didn't get much rest, what were you saying, Xia Chen Teacher?"
"It's nothing, just some small talk."
Pausing briefly, Xia Chen asked, "If you're tired, take a break. I'm going for my workout now."
"Wait."
The words slipped out from Kiana impulsively, and then she immediately regretted it. She wasn't sure why she had called out to him in the first place.
"What is it?"
"Nothing, just make sure you also take care and rest," Kiana managed to stammer, her face flushed red with embarrassment.
It felt utterly humiliating.
Xia Chen shook his head, finding Kiana's behavior somewhat peculiar. Perhaps it was due to lack of sleep causing her to act silly, coincidentally happening when he passed by.
He didn't dwell on it further, but Fu Hua, who was exercising nearby, noticed the situation unfolding. Her mission at Saint Freya Academy was to keep an eye on Kiana.
Earlier, when Kiana claimed to have dreamed about Sirin, Fu Hua reported it to Otto, receiving instructions to continue monitoring her closely.
Hesitating momentarily, Fu Hua approached Kiana with a bottle of water.
"Kiana, would you like some water?" she simply stated, "Drinking water early in the morning is beneficial for your health."
Kiana couldn't help but tease, "Class Monitor, have you started embracing health remedies like the elderly now?"
Fu Hua remained silent.
Then, with a burst of Short Concentrated Force, the bottle of mineral water in her hand exploded.
Startled, Kiana asked, "Class Monitor, are you okay?"
"I'm fine, just haven't fully recovered after exercising," Fu Hua replied benignly.
She quietly wiped her hands dry with a handkerchief and continued, "Kiana, you seem somewhat troubled today. Is everything alright?"
"It's because of those dreams."
Kiana didn't hide the details about dreaming of Sirin from Fu Hua. As they had grown quite close, she openly shared all the specifics of her dream experiences.
Fu Hua took note of this information carefully.
After hesitating briefly, she couldn't resist asking, "Kiana, may I inquire if the Gem of Serenity still has any effects on your body?"
The Singapore incident concluded with Kiana absorbing the Gem of Serenity. If not for Fu Hua mentioning it, Kiana might have even forgotten about its existence.
"Ah, I don't think so." She shook her head, reassuringly saying, "Don't worry, my body feels perfectly fine."
"Good to hear," Fu Hua responded, though her thoughts remained slightly heavy.
