Chapter 79: Locked in
And she was right. GUV is a world government power back on Earth, but their power don't penetrate deeper into the Dungeon Tower as they might have liked. Their new plan now is to find promising potential newbie and support them with their massive resources.
In short, to be recognized by GUV at this moment means you are absolutely above average in power and potential. There are lots of knights, but one thing sets Arin apart. An ability only he possesses.
"Disgusting. You have to shed blood for you to gain your power," his voice had turned harsh and dark. "I will show you the way of getting power!" Discover exclusive tales on m,v l'e|m-p| y r
Arin raised his hands, and his teammates came together; a sudden glow connected them, covering them like a shroud; immediately, Arin was filled with power; the air around him bent, and when he spoke, his voice was strong and boomed without the need to shout. "Trust! My teammates gave me the power of trust!"
And that was the ability. When in need he could convert people's power to his type of power and add to his own. But the catch is that it must be from people who trust him because he would then have to protect those people.
Kaidos paused as he watched his opponent fill up with power, and he smirked inside his helmet. Maybe this fight will be worth it after all. "But your new power gain has an obvious flaw!"
He immediately pushed his legs against the ground and cracked it as he leaped up and forward, above Arin and straight towards his teammates. "I'll just kill them first!"
That was indeed a very obvious flaw in Arin's technique, and Kaidos's fault was thinking that he didn't know that. Or made provision for it.
Arin didn't turn as he executed a technique. "Mind walk!" His body shimmered, and a translucent version of himself came out; it turned, and with a flash, it was on the beastman with its sword swinging down.
Kaidos could do little since he was still in the air; all he could do was thrust forward and meet the reflection attack with his own. The two collided, and Kaidos's sword passed through the reflection but this was where the main attack lay because the reflection exploded with stored mana.
The explosion boomed with shockwave and golden light; it flung Kaidos from the air and smashed him into a pillar, the whole thing collapsed on his head.
"Wow." Jael breath. The whole thing didn't take a minute, and if not for his Iron Awakened eyes, he wouldn't have seen anything. He looked towards Arin, and saw that the knight hadn't moved a muscle. "I feel they are above our rank."
"They are not," Litha grunted. "This is exactly where Codex set Awakeners of the same ranks apart. It's like when you use Hermit as strength. You're able to use two Iron rank powers.
"We are all still Iron rank but the power we can bring out is different." Litha shook her head.
"Is he down now?" Tim asked.
In answer, the rubble moved, and Kaidos stood up; some of the sections of his front armor had been cracked, but it smoothed over as they watched. "So that's how it is. I don't know. I apologize noble knight. I will fight you seriously now."
He stretched out his left hand and a small silver orb appeared. It was one of the life forces he was talking about earlier. "I'll burn one up, time for a boost."
Immediately the life force shriveled up and disappeared. Some part of his armor melted, but it was replaced. Red aura covered his sword and the iron smell of blood rolled over him even thicker. "Let's see."
Kaidos cut the air in front of him, and a ruddy, hellish energy blasted out; it roared out in a whine, and the debris stones in front of him melted with the floor scorched. "Impressive."
Arkin finally turned towards him, his face distorted with anger. "You are even using up the life force for cheap tricks? Disgusting! You kept giving me more reasons to kill you!"
He began to run forward and cleared the distance between the two in a rush. He brought his sword down, and so did Kaidos, and the two clashed with force.
Then they began to fight. Parry and block, each strike made the air tremble and cracked the stone floor. Golden light and ruddy flare filled the air, and if either of them weren't wearing armor, then they would have killed each other.
They locked the sword once again, and Arin gritted his teeth as he was slowly but steadily pushed back. He shook his head and quickly disengaged, drawing back in like a flash to fool his opponent, but Kaidos himself had dodged back.
They stared at each other, the space between them cracking with power. Arin raised his sword and began to move forward once more, but Kaidos didn't meet him as he usually does. Instead, he lifted his sword and smiled.
Power gathered, coiling and uncoiling around his sword, ruddy energy that made the sword heavier in his hand but he lifted it casually as If it weighed nothing. "Let's see how you handle this!"
He cut down, and the unleashed power leaped forward; the energy formed into a wolf that spread its mouth wide. Arin grunted; it was too quick for him to avoid, so he did the only thing he could do – he tried to fight it.
He covered himself in golden light and the two collided with a force that shook the ground. The attack from Kaidos wasn't something that could be taken lightly because it wouldn't go away just once it hit its target; the large wolf's mouth continued to bite down.
"Little shit," Arin grunted because the energy was eating through his own, and Since Kaidos meant to finish this, he had started to advance. "You think you can hold me down with this!"
