Chapter 80: Spell Crafter

"So the way the dungeon works is that it's the tomb of a necromancer so we have to fight our way through the actual undead hordes."

While tearing through the undead Ezekiel was explaining how to complete it.

"The area is filled with shadow mana and life mana in certain places which i think caused the moss to start forming there, now the larger pockets of moss make great hiding places for undead too."

He pointed out one large pocket of moss that he quickly incinerated with shadowfire whoch made the hiding skeleton rise up with firy tk try to strike.

"These skeletons are only ambush attackers and they aren't pretty strong, probably all of their power went into agility or something but be careful because a good critical hit can kill you depending on your vitality."

He used his wing shrouded in mana to slap away the strike, when Alexander saw this he was astonished by how fluid the motion was and not even a single scratch was left on the wing.

'Dang... why didn't I ever think about using the wings like that? I've been using my shield for guarding but with enough mana you could make an unbreakable barrier..."

He was using a gold quality shield which did it's job incredibly well but when one infused an item with mana to block a strike it was limited to the surface area of that object.

'Damn sometimes it sucks learning new things just because I played a different race.'

Once they reached the door Ezekiel stretched and approached.

"Get ready, since we're only farming xp I'm putting the wrong code in so it kills us and we can start over at a faster pace."

The celestial player rushed forward to block his path.

"Hey! Hey hey hey now maybe we can check out the boss? I haven't been able to fight a nightmare difficulty dungeon boss yet and I'd like to see it."

He looked at his new partner in confusion and shrugged.

"Then we have to get the rest of the team, the code is written down but we have to guard against dangers the spell circle sends our way."

When he heard this point Alexander stepped away with a nod as he knew from his past that dungeons had their own unique ways of making it hard to get to the boss. Discover more content at m,v l'e|m-p| y r

When the mana struck him iy actually took him a second to die since his vitality had been increased so far that the initial damage wasn't instant death.

'If i help them beat this dungeon then not only do I have a chance to get a connection to the War God's clan before they grow to large to care about me but I also get a connection to this mage.'

Having his name in the first nightmare dungeon defeat announcement was a problem but these benefits would be very good.

He also knew from experience that the rewards for completing the nightmare difficulty for the first time were incredibly good.

From his past he remembered many things even if he couldn't get all of the exact details, once the final worlds first difficulty was completed it would be minor achievements that would not be announced.

Unique gear would be obtained from certain significant achievements like creating the first items of each quality above gold, gaining the first mythical achievements were what he truly wanted but he knew he would not be successful in most of them, one or two would suffice.

Something that the players would take a long time to learn was that achievements had grades similar to skills and other similar things.

Novice achievements would typically give a title or something similar.

Apprentice achievements were more difficult to obtain and would often give skills as well as titles.

Experienced achievements would typically involve being the first to achieve a difficult task and these were the first achievements that gave out unique rewards, though they did not have additional rewards.

The master achievements were the most important to the average player as these held significant weight for world fame like completing dungeons and creating items.

Those achievements would give unique rewards and the additional rewards that could have significant impact on a player's development.

Legendary achievements would normally grant unique rewards and a significant title, he suspected that killing the pope would be such an achievement.

Finally the supreme achievements were achievements that could impact the entire world, destroying a city or becoming the ruler of a kingdom was a supreme achievement.

Finally mythical achievements were those that garnered the attention of the gods.

The only individual he had known that had publicly revealed their mythical achievement was an artisan that had created an item of the diamond quality, she had obtained the favor of the goddess of fire for her skill which had done many things.

She had reported that she had gained an immunity defensive skill as well as a skill that made her gain total control over fire.

Such things were the dreams of players at the time.

'I wonder who managed to get the legendary achievement for creating their first unique spell... lucky bastard.'

Outside of the dungeon players were being rewarded for doing more than simply killing creatures and bringing the bodies back.

It had only taken eight in game days but exploration was being done now.

Players were given the chance to start creating a path that did not simply involve the experience grind as many went to create potions to reduce their spending, others chose to pursue blacksmithing to try to forge powerful gear without having to fight for it.

Players who were sent to aid certain areas were even starting to learn the skills that they should have learned in the starting village, the rush to gain experience and explore the world outside of those tiny villages now seemed foolish to many players.

The greatest benefit was the larger number of players that began to call out for people to come learn skills that were meant to help mages.

It started with a few mages in every city learning about the existence of skills from mages that they worked under, the astonished looks of these poor mages when they realized the otherworlders had no clue about simple skills like mana sense and mana control had made them unable to think.

The mages even went further upon learning the otherworlders did not have mana cores, some reacted with astonishment and others reacted with anger at the ineptitude.

The result was a mass influx in mana usage across the world as players began to cultivate in the millions at a time.

This was the beginning of the exponential growth of this world's mana supply and the next time the server shut down the players would return to significant changes.

Ezekiel had managed to find his friends and after introducing Thanatos they took time to explain what they had begun to develop for a strategy.

While they were talking he was given a sudden inspiration to try a title he had mostly ignored.

'If I can make a spell to actually tear the boss's shield apart we could get this done even faster but what would be a good spell to make?'

'Not the best description but I think it works....'

He began to imagine how his spells functioned, the sharp mana projectiles, the explosive power, the decaying effects of shadow and void mana.

He knew that to destroy the shield faster he would have to make a spell that could bring the damage over time effects out to the greatest level possible.

That was when he gained sudden inspiration like a lightning bolt striking his mind.

In the past there was a certain kind of insulation that people used which had to be removed from homes when it was discovered to be very harmful to human health.

Amongst the reasons was the fact that this insulation was made of microscopic shards of glass that could penetrate the skin and be inhaled.

This then reminded him of another detail from the creature in the old games he had modeled his frenzy wing spell off of.

For that creature the hairs on its wings would be suspended in the air as fine particles along with the scales that contained something that made creatures go into... well a frenzy.

If he combined the concept of the microscopic needle shards and the haze of the creature that made them float and affect the creatures that came into contact... he could create an incredible effect with it.

He chose to activate the spell and pictured a projectile like an orb but filled with these shards of microscopic mana needles that would be released by the force of the bomb and begin slowly shredding the shields that enemies held.
