Chapter 64 - Delusion (2)
Two quarters of an hour later, while Song Lin and Song Ningxiang waited uneasily, Zang Ya slowly entered, holding An Yun’s hand.
When they heard the noise coming from outside, Song Lin and Song Ningxiang immediately looked toward the door and saw Zang Ya walking in with An Yun being led by him.
Song Lin had met An Yun before at the pet competition. He looked at An Yun and thought he was still very good-looking.
Seeing An Yun again after such a period of time, Song Lin didn’t know if it was his imagination, but he felt that An Yun was even better looking than the last time. His face was pink, his cheeks flushed, and his skin looked as if it could be broken by a simple touch. He seemed to have been well-raised.
After Song Ningxiang saw Zang Ya in front of her, her eyes were quickly drawn to the shuanger behind him. She first noticed An Yun’s appearance, which was beautiful but not overly striking, and there wasn’t much sadness in his eyes—he appeared pampered.
Her gaze wandered around him again, and she realized that the few accessories on his body, even though they were small, were priceless, and his clothes were also carefully selected.
Song Ningxiang watched Zang Ya holding An Yun behind him and suddenly remembered how, in the store yesterday, she had stood there in embarrassment while others bullied her. In contrast, this shuanger stood behind Zang Ya, well-protected by him.
There might not have been much difference between the two, but the key difference was that this shuanger was shielded by someone, allowing him to stand there calmly while she was humiliated in a bright and condescending manner.
At that moment, something took root in Song Ningxiang’s heart, just waiting for the opportunity to break out.
Zang Ya pulled An Yun to sit in the main seat. Looking at Song Lin, who approached, he asked directly, “Why are you here today?”
Song Lin, hearing him speak, hurriedly stepped forward and said, “I came here today to thank Young Master Zang for rescuing my sister yesterday.”
Zang Ya waved his hand dismissively. “This was just a small matter.”
Song Lin insisted, “No, this is not a trivial matter. If she hadn’t met the young master yesterday, I’m afraid no one would have known how much my sister was bullied. I should remember this great kindness.”
After saying that, Song Lin took Song Ningxiang with him and asked her to salute Zang Ya and thank him.
Song Ningxiang saluted Zang Ya and looked up in his direction, only to find that he wasn’t looking at her at all. Instead, he was squeezing the hand of the shuanger next to him and playing with it.
Song Ningxiang’s heart tightened; she pursed her lips, and her lowered eyes darkened.
Next, Song Lin and Song Ningxiang exchanged a few words with Zang Ya. After sending the thank-you gifts, they said goodbye and left.
.
The two of them were sent out by the attendants beside Zang Ya. When they were about to go out, they encountered Song Zheming and Song Wanwan coming in.
When the two parties met, each looked a little unpleasant.
Song Zheming regained his composure first, glanced at the direction from which Song Lin and the others had come, and at the attendants behind them. He said with a smile, “What happened yesterday was all because my sister was too reckless. This is due to the lack of discipline in my family. One day, I will bring my sister to your door to apologize. I hope Brother Song Lin will forgive me.”
While saying this, Song Zheming gestured to Song Wanwan next to him, prompting her to make some gestures.
Song Wanwan, who had been so domineering and lawless yesterday, now wore a drooped face, but she still managed to apologize to Song Ningxiang in a somewhat strong tone.
Song Ningxiang felt a bit flattered and pursed her lips, remaining silent.
Seeing this, Song Zheming didn’t react much. His purpose wasn’t to sincerely apologize to Song Ningxiang. He smiled as he bid farewell to Song Lin and the others and led his sister inside.
After they left, Song Lin turned to the attendants with a smile and then looked at his sister, Song Ningxiang.
“Ningxiang, are you okay?”
Ever since they entered this house and met Zang Ya, his sister, who had originally been very quiet, had become even more silent. Although they had just met the Song siblings again, their apologetic words lacked sincerity, making it clear that they didn’t truly want to apologize.
Song Ningxiang didn’t respond to her brother’s words. Instead, she gazed back at the tall Zang family residence, as if it had taken a lot of effort to climb up a level. Song Wanwan and her brother had likely come over for that person as well. If it weren’t for him and if that siblings weren’t here to apologize, they probably would have left arrogantly upon seeing them.
Suddenly, Song Ningxiang asked, “Brother, do you know who is standing next to Young Master Zang today?”
Song Lin didn’t understand why she was asking this, but he thought about it and said, “I don’t know him. Young Master Zang has no news of getting engaged or married. That person might be just a bed warmer?”
Song Lin stated it so straightforwardly, not seeming to think there was anything wrong, as that was how it was in this era.
Song Ningxiang guessed that the person was probably like that, but then she quickly thought that being with Young Master Zang led to such a comfortable life, even as a bed warmer. He was living a better life than her, the daughter of a wealthy businessman. It was truly disappointing and made her feel a bit uncomfortable.
After getting into the carriage, Song Ningxiang looked at her brother, who was sitting there lost in thought, and suddenly said, “Brother, if you get along well with this Young Master Zang, can you find a way to make me his concubine?”
