Chapter 64 - Delusion (1)
An Yun listened to Zang Ya’s inquiry and did not feel guilty at all about being caught. Instead, he walked directly in, smiling at Zang Ya as he said, “Young master, I came to see you about something.”
Zang Ya raised his head to look at An Yun, his eyes lingering on his lips for a few moments before quickly retracting his gaze and focusing on the writing in front of him. He said lightly, “What’s the matter?”
As An Yun approached, Zang Ya guessed that he had something to discuss; otherwise, he would have been playing with the fat cat and wouldn’t have come to see him at all.
An Yun also moved his gaze to the words Zang Ya was writing. He could barely recognize the characters and couldn’t understand all of them. This realization made him more determined to learn to read.
An Yun came to Zang Ya’s side and whispered, “Young master, I just want to ask if the books that enlightened you when you were a child are still here.”
Zang Ya raised his head again, looking at An Yun with some confusion. “They’re here. Why are you asking this? Do you want them?”
An Yun’s mind began to spin rapidly, realizing that if he mentioned that this book was lent to Xiao Cui, and Zang Ya might hesitate to take it out.
So, An Yun smiled, adding a hint of flattery to his tone, “Yes, I want them. I just want to learn to read. I think the books you used must be of the best quality, so I just want to borrow them for my own use.”
Zang Ya turned to look at him and stared for a long time.
Although An Yun was often subjected to Zang Ya’s gaze, the intensity of this stare made him feel a little scared after a while. He shook his shoulders uncomfortably and asked cautiously, “What’s wrong? Is there something wrong with my face?”
Zang Ya, however, withdrew his gaze and instructed the attendant beside him to take down the words he had written and deal with them. Then he took the wet towel that was handed to him and wiped his hands, casually saying, “You have so many stories in your heart. The allusions are quite exciting. I thought you knew how to read.”
When An Yun heard Zang Ya’s words, his heart skipped a beat, and a momentary panic appeared on his face. However, he soon calmed down and replied, “Those stories are just stories, told by others. I listen; as long as I have ears, I don’t need to know how to read.”
Zang Ya threw the towel he used to wipe his hands to the attendant next to him, reached out, took An Yun’s hand, rubbed the back of it, and asked casually, “Really?”
“Yeah, why would I lie to you?!”
An Yun nodded hurriedly, trying hard to show that he was telling the truth. With his big, clear, innocent eyes, he looked somewhat believable.
Zang Ya didn’t know whether he believed it or not, but he led An Yun toward the back room.
Though this was called Zang Ya’s study, An Yun thought it resembled a small library more. The front was a calligraphy room, and the back featured a two-story hollow bookcase filled with books of all kinds.
An Yun had been truly surprised when he first came here, but now he felt calm as he entered.
He let Zang Ya lead him directly to the innermost bookshelf. Zang Ya then let go of his hand, lowered his head, and took out several books from the bottom shelf.
An Yun watched eagerly.
Zang Ya looked through each book, putting a few back before handing the remaining three to An Yun.
“If you want to learn to read, start with these three books. From tomorrow on, I will have Qing Yue spend half an hour every day teaching you. After you finish learning these, we can see if you want to continue learning. However, if you want to learn better, I can hire a tutor from outside to come and teach you.”
An Yun took the book and flipped through it casually. Even if he couldn’t understand the words in this time and space, he could tell that the words in these books were the simplest.
An Yun was already literate, but the characters of this era were completely different from those he had learned, so he had to learn them from scratch. What he needed to do now was simply match the characters of this era with the characters he had learned. There was no need for him to learn more in-depth.
Therefore, after hearing Zang Ya’s suggestion, An Yun quickly shook his head and refused. “No, it’s enough for Qing Yue to teach me. I just want to know how to read.”
Moreover, Zang Ya had brought him here to pick up the books in person and arranged for Qing Yue to teach him. These were excellent arrangements, and An Yun felt that he did not need anything more.
“Thank you, young master.” An Yun hugged the book and sincerely thanked Zang Ya.
Zang Ya looked at the person who had sincerely thanked him. The sunlight shone through the glazed roof of the bookstore, casting a warm halo around him and highlighting An Yun’s image. He looked like a beautiful child who was quiet and well-behaved.
Zang Ya took a step forward, trapping An Yun between his arm and the bookshelf before An Yun realized the danger, and kissed him on the lips.
An Yun struggled slightly but quickly complied.
Ambiguous sounds resounded in the quiet pavilion.
It wasn’t until the clear ringing of the bell came from the door that the people in the pavilion stopped moving.
Zang Ya looked at the shuanger who had gone limp after being kissed by him. He stretched out his hands to straighten An Yun’s clothes, touched his wet eyes, and then slowly walked out while holding his hand.
An Yun followed behind, his beautiful white face and rosy lips now bright red and swollen, clearly showing that he had been kissed hard.
As they arrived at the door, An Yun came to his senses from the ambiguous atmosphere just now when he was blown by the cool breeze outside, but the tips of his ears turned red involuntarily.
“What’s wrong?” Zang Ya didn’t notice An Yun’s little movement; he was looking at the servant who had come to report.
The servant stood at the foot of the steps, lowering his head as he replied, “Young master, Song Lin of the Song family came to visit with his sister, Song Ningxiang. They said they came to thank the young master.”
“Take them to the side hall and wait. I’ll be there in a moment.”
“Yes.”
The servants were ordered to leave.
Zang Ya turned to look at An Yun and asked him, “Do you want to come with me to have a look?”
An Yun thought for a moment and nodded. He had nothing to do in the mansion. Song Lin brought a lot of food, most of which would go into his and Snowball’s stomachs. He still wanted to see what he was like.
