Chapter 23: Brainworm

The brainworm may be one of the strangest Tyranid creatures. They are powerful psychic creatures. The Alien Inquisition speculates that the brainworm is a Tyranid creature transformed by the Queen of Norn using the DNA of the Eldar. The brainworm is the physical channel for the hive consciousness to release psychic power.

Tai Yue checked the battlefield data provided by the various troops of the expeditionary force and quickly locked a large brainworm on the east side of the Aqvalis continent.

He drove the Thunderhawk gunboat across the battlefield and went straight to the destination. Soon after, he found the mission target.

This brainworm uses psychic power to float in the air. Its body length is nearly four meters. Its body size is as extreme as all brainworms. Except for the swollen brain and exposed bloody brain matter, other organs or limbs have shrunk and degenerated, like a curled up small Tyranid creature.

There are also groups of gunworms and knifeworms around it. These Tyranid creatures are obviously strengthened by the psychic power of the brainworm. They no longer have the fear of creatures and attack the four tank armored vehicles of the Nonavore Iron Guard and the infantry-tank coordinated forces composed of the Planetary Defense Force.

Although the counterattack of the Imperial forces caused a large number of Tyranid creatures to fall to the ground, the brain worm injected them with unnatural vitality. These aliens quickly recovered from their wounds and rushed towards the Imperial forces again.

Faced with these strengthened and resilient Tyranid Zerg troops, the infantry-tank coordinated forces were on the verge of defeat at this moment.

Taiyue lowered the flight altitude of the Thunder Eagle gunship and began to bomb the area where the brain worm was located, preparing to eliminate the Tyranid creatures around the brain worm.

The four twin-linked heavy bombs fired in salvo plowed across the ground, and the dense explosions left countless craters on the ground and tore the bodies of a large number of Tyranid creatures.

The brain worm immediately fired white psychic lightning at the Thunder Eagle gunship. Its power was not weaker than the powerful psychic attacks released by the Astartes Think Tank or the Eldar, and it could severely damage armored targets such as armored vehicles.

After the psychic lightning came into contact with the Thunder Eagle gunship, it eventually dissipated in the air. This attack consumed the power of the psychic runes engraved on the Thunder Eagle gunship.

The Thunder Eagle gunship's attack did not stop, and the heavy bombs were fired directly at the brain worm. At the same time, a dazzling blue psychic shield lit up around the brain worm, intercepting and deflecting the heavy bombs fired by the Thunderhawk gunship.

The Tyranid creatures outside the shield continued to be attacked head-on by artillery fire, and a large number of gunworms and knifeworms were torn in half by the violent explosion, with liquid splashing and limbs scattered.

The Thunderhawk gunship hovered over the brain worm and continued to release a storm of heavy bombs. The brain worm's psychic shield showed signs of weakening under the continuous bombardment, and the psychic blue light began to become pale and fragile.

When it was about to kill the brain worm, the Thunderhawk gunship suddenly stopped attacking and hovered in the air.

Taiyue and Jerome immediately jumped down from the Thunderhawk gunship, and the two used psychic bombs to block the psychic power of the brain worm.

The brain worm could not float under the influence of the anti-psychic field generated by the psychic bomb, and fell directly to the ground.

After its psychic power was restricted, it became an ordinary alien, and its limbs had atrophied and degenerated, so it could only crawl on the ground with difficulty.

When Taiyue stepped forward to capture the brainworm alive, the brainworm suddenly emitted a faint orange light and tried to absorb Taiyue's psychic power.

"Psychic leeches are useless to me!"

Taiyue stepped on the swollen brain of the brainworm after saying this. He had activated the metal cells and his body was filled with the negative energy of the subspace like an untouchable.

Jerome then used the phase iron torture device that sealed the psychic energy to tie up the brainworm and carried it into the Thunderhawk gunship.

After completing the mission, the two returned to the Blackstone Fortress and put the captured brainworm into the prison inside the No. 6 anti-psychic turret.
