Umbra Frontier Online – A Casual Playthrough of the Umbra Witch

Chapter 51: After the Event, Before the Patch

It's been two days since the game's first event.

I took a day off from playing yesterday so that I don't get too addicted to the game.

But now that I've logged into the game again, everything has gone back to normal in Lily Corvo and Jael and his familiar were gone as well.

On the noticeboard of the game, it says that the game will be having a patch update in five days after the end of the event. Meaning three more days until my skills get nerfed as Hikari stated that the devs will most likely configure a lot of things related to me.

I did go pretty hard then. I supposed it would make sense that the things I did would garner attention from the devs.

But I decided to worry about the nerfs until after the patch. As for now, I head to Arialight and booked a room at an inn there. Once I'm alone, I opened my inventory to take a look at the stuff I had bought from the event shop.

First off, I got a nice witch hat from the shop called, Night Talker Hat, which I've replaced my Magi's Insignia hairpin with.

Looking at myself in the mirror, I was amazed by how good and stylish it looked on me.

Nice.

I don't normally care much about fashion. But the hat looked really fitting for me.

Next, is a skill scroll in the event shop which had caught my attention the moment I looked through it. Containing a certain skill called Telekinesis.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
[Skill Scroll - Telekinesis] has been used.
Skill Acquired: [Telekinesis].
Selects a single target to move freely with the user's mind. (Does not work on Players, Bosses and NPCs)
MP Cost: 30 MP (+ 1 MP for each continuous second the user controls the target.)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

And without further ado, it's time to test it out!

"Telekinesis."

I targeted the end table next to the bed in the room and began controlling it. Floating it in the air and moving it left and right and up and down. The speed at which I move it too is by my will.

This is freaking awesome! Why did they make it available from the event shop!? It should be harder to obtain than just that.

Then again... The Skill Scroll was like the second most expensive item in the event shop using the event points, so I guess it'd be pretty hard for everyone to get.

Putting that thought aside, I proceeded to attempt the thing I've been thinking of trying ever since I got the skill scroll.

Placing the end table back where it was and removing the skill's effect from it, I then held my Eye of the Accursed staff horizontally in front of me and casted the skill on it next.

"Telekinesis."

The Eye of the Accursed staff floats before my eyes as I let it go. Then, I turned around, gently placed my butt on its shaft and lifted my feet off the ground.

"Oooh!" I accidentally let out my voice in excitement.

For you see... I am now flying with the power of Telekinesis!

"Oh my goodness! This feels amazing!"

I'm flying. I'm actually flying!

Well technically, I'm levitating now but still, there's no doubt in my mind that I will be flying once I make my staff move.

So let's try it right now!

Taking it slow and steadily, I began to move around in the room, being careful not to bump into the walls or anything else.

I got to try this outside later. I thought. But first, there's something I have to confirm. So I opened my status screen and specifically checked on my MP.

Sure enough, It's not going down.

Telekinesis was supposed to drain one point of MP for each second that passed when I'm controlling something with the skill. However, because technically I'm not moving my feet, I'm technically being stationary right now. Therefore, my Meditation skill is in effect, restoring 1 MP per second. Cancelling out the cost of 1 MP per second from Telekinesis.

Aside from using 30 MP to cast the skill, I can fly indefinitely as I please!

If I can maintain my balance while sitting on my staff, that is. It's kind of difficult to sit up straight on a long magic rod.

But anyways, I hopped off my staff and undo the Telekinesis on it. Checking out the next item I got from the event shop.

It's the most expensive item from the event shop: A Jael plushie.

"Errr......"

Why was this the most expensive item in the event shop?

I mean it's cute. But why...?

Was there something special about it?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Miscellaneous Item: Jael Plushie
There's nothing special about this item. It's... It's just a plushie. Like I don't know who in our company thought this was even a good idea. (I'd say it's Suzuki or Monika.) But honestly, if you bought this thing out of every other better item in the shop using the limited event points, then you're either twelve or just a big dummy.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Or maybe I'm a player who managed to defeat almost every single player in one match and won with more than enough event points to buy out the entire event shop...

Seriously, I'd ask again: Who among the devs wrote the descriptions? And did they seriously just name-drop two of their co-workers' names?

"I'm keeping this thing."

It's definitely worth something thanks to the description.

Now for the next item...

Huh...? There's not much left, is there?

Besides the first three items I checked out, the event shop was also selling a variety of somewhat good weapons as well for the different game classes, including a staff for a Magician like me.

However, while the staff from the event shop has overall better damage output than my Eye of the Accursed staff, the latter is still better because of its special effect while the former doesn't have that sort of thing at all.

And I also can't do anything with the rest of the weapons I had bought. The dagger maybe, but I still prefer using Diego's Magic Buckler so I supposed I'll just sell them all along with the Bloodsoaked equipment set Hikari, Himeji and I acquired from Gaius.

Finally, the rest of the items I'd bought from the event shop were just a big sum of gold, better-quality potions than the ones I'm currently using, and an item that I have never obtained before: Enhancement Runes, to be used on equipment.

They're good, but there's nothing much to elaborate on. Although I’m not sure if I should use the Enhancement Runes now or save them for some other time later…

And so, that's about it I guess...

"Hm? Wait, what's this?"

Just as I was about to close my inventory, I noticed two items in the slots that I was certain were not bought from the event shop.

3 Equipment Selection Box - Holy Magus Set and 5 Umbra Crystals. When did I get this...?

For a second, I pondered. And after a second, I still have no clue.

Oh well. If they're in my inventory, I must've gotten them legitimately somehow.

The Equipment Selection Boxes were obvious as to what they are, so I checked the Umbra Crystals first.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Crafting Material: Umbra Crystal
A unique rock that seems to be as hard as diamond. Due to the aura it emits and its jet-black colour, it is theorised to be related to the Umbra Lords, thus the name. It may be used to create a powerful piece of equipment or a cursed one instead. Either way, you're gonna get jet black armour or clothing which will look totally sick btw.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I see. Maybe I can ask Diego to make me a new staff using this item.

But, putting that thought aside, I opened the 3 Equipment Selection Boxes in my inventory and proceeded to choose my new Holy Magus gears.

I already have a new hat, so I'll pass on getting another one.

A new staff is also a pass, and so is the off-hand.

That leaves the Holy Magus Robes for the "Top" equipment slot, the Holy Magus Stockings for the "Bottom" equipment slot, and the Holy Magus Boots for the "Legs" equipment slot.

...Since when did a pair of stockings become armour now? And why are its stats so good?

Regardless of my feelings, I wore them. The robes and boots too and...

"Oh my god! These are not holy!"

They're the opposite of holy! And even more revealing than my previous outfit!

The devs are definitely trying to draw a line with this sort of gear.

I shouldn't wear these. I shouldn't wear these but... The stats are so gooood!

They are obviously way better than the gear I bought at the equipment store in Lily Corvo.

What's more, I have a 2-set bonus for wearing them which boosts my overall damage by 15% and my overall damage against Undead-type monsters by 30%. They're too good not to pass up on, despite my embarrassment!

At least the Cloak of Romuli is covering my back. I can't imagine walking out in public like this and having a lot of skin exposed.

"Hee.... Huu...." I took some deep breaths. "Hee... Huuu...." And eventually, I calmed down.

I'll just need to show that I'm not embarrassed wearing this sort of outfit and act confidently and proudly until I'm no longer embarrassed by it.

And so, now that everything's done, I left the inn and went outside to try flying on my staff in an open space immediately.

And on that day, many players in the Holy City, Arialight, bore witness to another incredible feat of The Umbra Witch, as they were baffled, watching her flying high up above the city on a staff while dressed in a semi-lewd outfit.

But no matter how much they sharpened their senses and heightened their sights, none of them were able to confirm the colour of Yoru's panties.

And thus, vol 2 begins.
