Twin Soul

Book 3: Chapter 9 (5/9)

Noe’s Wind Walker didn’t transmit the last message when Noe said “Lucas, end him”. But Kain could sense a powerful presence appeared behind him. Even before Kain could turn around, Finwe had already activated [Thunder Step] spell, and used his long sword to parry the sword slashes from Lucas, the Summoner Warrior, who was trying to assassinate Kain from behind. Just two sword slashes, Finwe could feel the big physical strength gap between him and Lucas as Lucas cut both of his hands off then cut his head off immediately after. Finwe sacrificed his life allowing Kain to use his Magical Ice Spear and blocked Lucas’s third and fourth sword slashes on time. Lucas was about to attack Kain again but then he immediately stopped and looked around at his surroundings.

Lucas thought to himself, “Killing that Birdy seems to be too easy. My mind must have fallen into his magic spell.” Lucas threw his swords away, slapped himself in the face, then closed his eyes, and refocused his mind.

Opening his eyes again, Lucas saw a big thundering wave in a half-moon shape released from Finwe's longsword toward him. Still having his swords in his hands, Lucas blocked the thundering half-moon shape wave created by Finwe’s [Moon Wave] spell and successfully absorbed it into his swords. Lucas then slashes his swords at Finwe to release the split thundering half-moon shape waves back toward him. Finwe easily deflected both thundering waves using just his longsword since the original effect of his [Moon Wave] spell was split into half and half which reduced its power dramatically.

Needless to say, Finwe was amazed as he carefully observed the swords' black auras that were actively releasing from Lucas's swords and thought to himself, "Such amazing weapons!"

The reason Lucas could have figured out his mind had fallen to a magic spell was that Finwe casted [Delusion World] spell instead of [Duplicity] spell due to time requirement. [Duplicity] spell required longer time chanting while [Delusion World] spell could be cast in almost an instant.

Staring into Lucas’s eyes, Finwe holstered his longsword and said nothing. Lucas didn’t know why Finwe would do that until he saw Kain conjuring Lazela and commanded her to attack him. Lucas pointed one of his swords at Finwe and angrily stated, “Birdy, I demanded you to fight me. A Wind Walker was nowhere near enough to excite me.”

Finwe shook his head and simply answered, “You are just a minion. Killing you would mean nothing since you can just revive yourself repeatedly. I'd rather use my time to go after your boss, the Necromancer.”

Just when Lucas was about to say something else, Lazela finished chanting for [Wind Immersion] spell and immediately casted it to transform herself into a Wind Elemental Monster. Receiving just one powerful punch from Lazela and Lucas was blown at least fifty feet away. The evil spirits that were helping Lucas fly were struggling to hold him back or else he would have been blown much further away.

After recognizing Lazela wasn't as weak as he thought, Lucas smiled and confidently said, “Not bad. I didn’t know that the Conjurer Mage boy had such a powerful creature under his command. Birdy, I will kill this Wind Walker first and then move my attention toward you right after.”

Even though Lucas couldn’t create any more evil spirits because he had already reached the maximum amount of evil spirits he could create daily. Lucas was confident that killing Lazela wouldn’t be any difficulty for him. The massive army of evil spirits he created was fighting against the mighty Demon Army of the Thirteenth Gate. No doubt the army of evil spirits would lose, but it gave Lucas enough time to carry out the sneak attack against Kain. Despite it being a failed mission, nothing had gone to waste. All Lucas had to do was die and then revive himself using the [Reanimate] spell connected to Noe’s mana pool. Lucas would then gain back the ability to summon other massive evil spirits at the same time or slowly summon evil spirits to assist him in battle only when needed. Still, Lucas wasn’t the type of minion who was always dependent on his/her master’s mana pool for revival. For Lucas, dying is a shame and he would try the best he could to stay alive unless his enemies could somehow overwhelm and kill him.

Finwe turned to look at Kain and shook his head without saying anything. Even though Lazela wasn't weak, both Kain and Finwe knew she would be no match to Lucas. However, despite Lazela couldn’t revive herself, Kain could easily conjure her back to the battlefield if needed. She alone was enough to hold Lucas so Kain wouldn't have to conjure more creatures to help her out.

Noe wasn't disappointed when he saw Lucas's sneak attacks failed because Finwe used his Delusion Magic on time to temporarily stop him. Still didn’t sure if Finwe was no longer Kain’s Soul-bound Creature, Noe turned his head toward Anwyn and mockingly said to provoke her, “Anwyn Richir, I didn’t expect a mighty Devil Overlord could be turned into a conjured creature. I should visit you after this battle is over. I will make you become one of my conjurable creatures as well.”

Anwyn was about to explain that she was Kain’s Soul-bound Creature, not Finwe. But Kain stopped her on time by tapping into the permanent abyss link chained between them signaling Anwyn to keep her mouth shut. It’s better to have Noe believed Finwe was his Soul-bound Creature instead. It would be impossible for Noe to defeat Anwyn using his astral form while it was possible for him to defeat Finwe during his daily use of [Astral Projection] ability if he managed to find him in the realm of Thunder Eagles. Even though Kain didn't think he was going to lose to Noe. But just in case if he dies and becomes Noe's minion, Kain didn’t want to see Finwe turned into a conjured creature that serves Noe Clerico or any other Conjurer Mages beside him.

The [Ice Solidification] spell created by Gisella was very powerful, but still wasn't strong enough to completely freeze Anwyn as she released a fiery aura that quickly melted all the ice that formed on her body.

After the [Ice Solidification] spell expired, Kain and Finwe flew closer to Anwyn then Kain softly asked, “Anwyn, do you think that you can defeat that Demigod God Mage?”

Anwyn was still stunned after learning how strong a God Mage could be, but that didn’t mean she would lose to her. After all, Anwyn Richir was the current Devil Overlord who ruled over ten thousand Devils living on the Devils' planet. Even the strongest Archangel of the Heaven Realm, Michael, couldn't defeat her in a one versus one battle.
