Chapter 60 - Spaceship
Seeing that Mai Dongzi did not ask any questions and simply boarded the landing craft, sitting properly, Lieutenant Fu seemed like he wanted to say something but eventually did not speak, instead taking a seat in another part of the craft.
The landing craft quickly ascended above the forest, then accelerated further.
In just five minutes, the landing craft’s speed exceeded even the latest rockets from her past life, fast enough to easily escape Shui Lan Star’s gravity.
Inside the landing craft, Mai Dongzi, who was not wearing any protective gear but was strapped in with a seatbelt, initially felt a slight increase in gravity followed by a minor sensation of weightlessness.
Other than that, she experienced no discomfort.
Mai Dongzi watched as Shui Lan Star outside the landing craft grew smaller.
She was gradually leaving Shui Lan Star, unsure of when she would return.
Mai Dongzi pushed aside her myriad thoughts and suddenly remembered the rewards for completing the survival game: ten million credit coins and a piece of land on Shui Lan Star.
Regarding the credit coins, Mai Dongzi was no longer as concerned as she was immediately after her rebirth since her star network account now held over 130 million gold coins.
Additionally, Lieutenant Fu had informed her that Prince Arthur had ordered a renowned mecha manufacturer in the Blue-Black Empire to custom-build a mecha for her.
At the time, Lieutenant Fu had asked whether she wanted the cost of the mecha to be covered by the Xi family or to pay for it herself. Mai Dongzi had unhesitatingly chosen to pay for it herself.
Although the mecha was worth 100 million credit coins, Lieutenant Fu made it clear that she would receive a reward of 100 million credit coins in ten days, reportedly from Prince Arthur for discovering the energy plants.
Moreover, it wouldn’t be a one-time payment; future payments would be made automatically into her account, though the amounts would be smaller, totaling only a few million over a year.
Thus, Mai Dongzi’s main focus was on the piece of land on Shui Lan Star, so she sent an inquiry to the director.
Mai Dongzi initially thought that the production team might be busy preparing for their return and wouldn’t have time to address her inquiry. However, to her surprise, the director responded immediately after she sent her message.
The director’s reply stated that after Prince Arthur officially begins the development of Shui Lan Star next year, he would ensure that a piece of land in the best city is allocated to her.
Accompanying the director’s message was a transfer signal for ten million credit coins.
Mai Dongzi looked at the ten million credit coins deposit message with a bit of frustration. She had inquired about the land on Shui Lan Star, not about receiving credit coins.
According to the contract, the adventurers would only receive their rewards after returning to the Imperial Capital Star, following approval by the relevant personnel from the Huangguo live-streaming platform.
The fact that the director sent her the ten million credit coins now made her wonder if it was a personal advance on his part.
During the latter part of the program, Mai Dongzi had been busy searching for energy plants, and she believed the director was aware of the relevant matters. Otherwise, the live broadcast would not have occasionally shifted focus to other areas, giving her more privacy.
Thus, the director’s prompt transfer of the credit coins was likely due to Prince Arthur and their influence.
Even though it was given to her unexpectedly, and it was rightfully hers, Mai Dongzi was naturally happy to receive it.
The military landing craft was very fast, reaching the location of the space command ship outside the orbit of Water Blue Star in just over ten minutes.
Looking out the window of the landing craft, Mai Dongzi saw a massive starship lit up with countless lights, resembling a giant beast in the darkness of space.
Surrounding the starship were a dozen or so escort ships, each about a third the size of the starship, orbiting around it.
This scene was far more spectacular than anything she had seen in sci-fi films of future interstellar civilizations in her past life.
The landing craft passed the escort ships and flew towards the massive command ship.
Finally, the landing craft docked at an exposed docking platform on the side of the command ship. The platform’s sliding track moved the landing craft into the ship’s hull. After passing through two partition doors, the landing craft finally came to a stop.
The docking area was very large, with walls emitting a white light and very well-lit.
Inside the docking area, several landing crafts of the same model, though varying in size, were docked. The space was empty of people but patrolled by three different types of mechanical soldiers.
As Mai Dongzi followed Lieutenant Fu out of the landing craft, the mechanical soldiers’ eyes immediately flashed red, scanning the two of them up and down before changing to blue.
Lieutenant Fu raised his holographic computer and scanned it in front of the mechanical soldiers. The blue light in the soldiers’ eyes turned to green, and a deep male voice said, “Identity verified.”
Seeing Lieutenant Fu’s gesture, Mai Dongzi followed suit, scanning her own holographic computer in front of another mechanical soldier. The soldier’s blue light also turned to green, and the same tone of voice said, “Identity verified.”
The two mechanical soldiers then turned and walked away, and the wall in front of them slid open, revealing an elevator made entirely of transparent material.
Lieutenant Fu led Mai Dongzi into the elevator, which moved slightly as Mai Dongzi could feel it ascending.
Before entering the elevator, Mai Dongzi saw that it was made of transparent material, but once inside, she saw only white walls, so she had to rely on her sense of direction to judge the elevator’s movement.
“Has my identity been recorded?” Mai Dongzi couldn’t help but ask.
Lieutenant Fu was indeed very taciturn, and Mai Dongzi suspected that he wouldn’t speak unless necessary.
“If your identity information wasn’t recorded in advance, you would definitely fail this checkpoint. For non-staff personnel, recording must be authorized by Prince Arthur. This command ship has many restrictions, Miss Lucy. After I take you to your room, please avoid moving around unless absolutely necessary to prevent any unnecessary trouble. Admiral Chen asked me to tell you that if you need anything, you can contact Admiral Chen directly,” Lieutenant Fu said.
Mai Dongzi nodded in understanding. This was Prince Arthur’s command ship, so strict security was normal. It was already beyond expectation that they were willing to bring her along. If she wandered around outside and made mistakes, it would only be to her own detriment.
However, she couldn’t help but glance at Lieutenant Fu. He had been so taciturn, but now he was speaking at length. It didn’t seem like his usual demeanor.
But in the following time, Lieutenant Fu spoke again, and Mai Dongzi felt she had overthought it.
“This is the VIP area. Prince Arthur also lives on this floor. You can open the door by scanning your holographic computer,” Lieutenant Fu said, leading Mai Dongzi to the door of a room.
Mai Dongzi followed his instructions and scanned her holographic computer on the door sensor. The door opened as expected.
