Toman's Black Cat

Chapter 14: A god-made Cliff

I walked in deep thought with Draken to visit Takemitchy. I barely said more than a few words, and was very surprised I was asked to join Draken in the first place. He's Mikey's friend, his brother really. I tried to politely decline, but ended up getting that "Do it or else" look and immediately put up the white flag.

I didn't really want to go anywhere, least of all wherever I knew Mikey would be.

"You're both idiots, you know." Draken's sudden comment jolted out me out of my thoughts. Literally. Making Draken laugh like a super tall jerk.

So mean.

"I don't know what you're talking about Mr. Skyscraper." I said with a pout.

He laughed again before shaking his head.

"Mikey isn't someone who knows what to do when it comes to feelings."

I hesitated to respond, before simply saying, "I know that now."

Draken let out an irritated groan. "Then get over it. Seriously, both of you are the definition of idiots in love."

"Uh huh, and you wouldn't know anything about that at all when it comes to a certain lady by the name of I dunno, EMMA?!?" My comment made him come to a complete halt, but I huffed and stomped ahead of him.

This whole situation is stupid. Loving someone is stupid because it hurts.

I got to the front of Takemitchy's place as soon as I felt tears threatening to well up. I closed my eyes, took deep breaths, and prepared myself for today.

"Let's go, idiot number 2."

"Draken, you jerk!" I called out as I followed him up the stairs to Takemitchys' room.

The whole scene is much much funnier than reading about it, that's for dang sure. I held back closer to the door quietly, until Draken brought his fist down on the puzzle.

Seeing the tears flow from the poor guy, I actually just felt…

When the chaos between Draken and Takemitchy was going on, hearing a sudden fit of laughter near the door made everyone freeze. Takemitchy complained about Y/n laughing at his pain, but she waved her hands in front of her, trying to calm herself down.

I haven't laughed that hard in so long, but I feel so bad!

My laughter came to an end and I wiped my eyes only to be greeted by the very close face of Yamagishi.

"Y/n! You have such a beautiful laugh! I'm gonna make you laugh all the time so I can hear it."

Once he said this, Akkun smacked him on the back of the head. "Cool it, Yamagishi."

I wanted to laugh again, but came to Yamagishi's defense instead.

"Please don't hit him Akkun. He's a sweetheart for wanting something he doesn't even benefit from. Besides, I could use a ton of more laughter in my life for sure, so I would be more than happy to let you make me laugh. Forever even!" I said with a bright smile.

Yamagishi's face turned a bright shade of pink.

"Gishi, are you sick or something?" I reached out to put my hand to his forehead…

Yamagishi had seen this girl so often, but never in a million years would he have thought she would be so sweet to him. The last time he saw her, he was so happy he could help her. The happiness quadrupled when she said such a simple statement. Hearing her be willing to let him make her laugh forever, he felt himself getting closer to her.

Yamagishi was suddenly yanked back by Akkun and Takuya. I didn't see he did anything wrong, but I suddenly heard shouting outside.

Crap!

I ran down the stairs to see Mikey chuck a bike like it was nothing!?

As Takemitchy stood crying about his broken memories, I understood that. I had to let everything play out the way it was supposed to, but kept an ear out to hear what changed. Since I haven't been around any Toman members, it's been harder to stay informed.

When it got to the moment that Mikey pointed out that Takemitchy had poo in his hair, I just shook my head and turned to go home.

Only to feel a warm hand grab mine and pull me into a sprint down the street to further tease Takemitchy.

We had run so far, but it didn't feel like it had been that much. I held his hand the entire way with a blend of conflicting emotions swirling through me.

"Kenny! I'll meet up with you in a sec!"

"Whatever idiot number one."

Mikey tugged me away to the park. The same park where I confessed to him.

I immediately felt my mood take a nosedive.

"Y/n."

I looked at him only to see him smiling at me.

"Y..yeah?"

"Kenny wasn't wrong. I am an idiot. I didn't know what to say that night.."

I looked away and stared at the grass.

"Did you mean it?"

What?

"What do you mean, 'did I mean it'?" I asked, suddenly feeling my blood run cold.

He looked away for a moment, before turning and facing me completely. He pulled me closer and put one arm around my waist.

I looked into his eyes waiting for him to continue.

"Did you mean it, when you said I'm your first love?"

I felt like I couldn't breathe.

"Do you think I'd lie about it?" I asked through gritted teeth.

"That's not what I meant. I just..you're hiding something, I know you are, but you won't tell me."

With that, I ripped away from his grasp.

Tears running down my face, I didn't break eye contact with him.

"Mikey.." I said through quivering breaths.

*Flashback*

Meeting Hanma for the first time immediately kicked all of my paranoid senses into high gear.

He kept silent for a moment more.

"What do you want?" I asked coldly.

He puffed out a smoke ring. "I just have to deliver a message to you is all."

He walked up to me with a smirk I immediately wanted to slap off his face.

"Very soon, Mikey isn't gonna want you around."

The atmosphere this guy brought felt like it was crushing me.

"I don't know what you're talking about." I turned to walk off.

"Hey babe, don't shoot the messenger. I'm just telling you what I know. Mikey's gonna leave you, although, I heard he never wanted you in the first place."

The nerve of this jerk. I feel so angry. But what's worse is the anger is more at the feeling he might be right.

He threw the used bud on the ground, not bothering to stomp it out, and turned to walk off.

He stopped, to throw one last comment my way.

"Mikey doesn't trust you beautiful. So when you see I'm telling the truth, come to me and I'll take care of you."

*Flashback*

I let out a bitter laugh. "You don't trust me at all do you?"

He didn't answer for a moment before taking a step toward me, but as soon as he did, I took a quick step back.

"I want to trust you. I want…you."

The tears were unbearable at this point.

I looked at the sky for a moment and sighed.

"No, Mikey. You don't."

I turned around and walked away feeling pieces of my heart being left behind.

A little ways away, that black cat watched with delight at how well things seemed to be going. Although, she hasn't given up yet. The fact she wants to however, is definitely a good sign. Just a little more

pushing till this chick falls off a cliff.
