Chapter 10: Chapter 10 - Prime's Past
"Prime..." Prince Hendrix was worried about him. Prime's head was hurting and he preferred to get up. Prince Hendrix helped him to sit. "What happened to you? I was worried about you. Is there something wrong?"
Prime shook his head and grabbed back his hands from the prince. "I think I need to go home."
"Let me take you home."
He refused. "I need to go back alone. I need to rest." He got up and his body was weak.
"Let me take you now." The prince carried him and went to the safe and shortcut to get out of the Kingdom. They had a ride on a horse and he made sure that his face was hidden to avoid an encounter with the enemy.
The birds were chirping and the clouds were thick and gray. "What's happening?" He rushed to the poor guy's small house and made sure the place was hot. "Let me get a pile of wood and make a bonfire."
"There's no need to do that. I can manage it now. Trust me." Prime got up but with his weak body, he couldn't.
Prince Hendrix didn't listen. He forced himself to get a pile of wood. He wanted to help him to recover his health immediately.
After making a bonfire, he made sure that Prime was getting enough food. He made a hot soup and a hot tea.
"This smells not good." He was talking to himself and he poured some into the bowl.
"Just take this and you'll be good."
Prime sat and tasted the bitterness of the hot soup. "It's hot and not smells good. I wanted to" He vomited in front of the prince.
"What did you do? How unlucky I am today?" He put him back on the bed and put off his clothes. It revealed again his fine muscles, which made Prime's eyesight clear. He shut her eyes and pretended that she didn't see anything.
The prince noticed that and it made him realize that he should investigate his identity. He wanted to prove the poor guy's identity wasn't real. He was thinking about discovering the truth. He was thinking about why this poor guy was living alone and had no parents or siblings to live with. He was clever about this, but his thoughts and heart were arguing.
He went to the poor guy's small wardrobe and found a few garments. He checked all of Prime's things and discovered that he was poor. "What happened to him?"
Princess Zakia was thankful that she thought about the possibility that the prince would investigate the small house. She put a few things inside the small cabinet and she stored a few foods to eat. She blamed herself for her carelessness. She was hoping that she would recover quickly and stop the prince from investigating. She didn't want to be called a deceiver this time as her body was weak.
"I hate this." She was whispering to herself and hoping that he would call his attention. "What do you want to know?"
The prince stopped looking for her things.
"Nothing. Just something to eat." He lied to her.
She forced herself to get up and made herself comfortable in his eyes. "I feel fine now." She started to look for carrots and onion leaves. She looked for corn and boiled it in high heat to be cooked. She chopped the onion leaves, carrots, and cabbage. She put it all in the other boiling water and went the boiled corn was chilled, she scraped all of its parts and mixed it in the first ingredients.
"This is real food. Do you know how I stored this? This is for three days and I haven't looked for food yesterday." She put the hot soup into the bowl and asked the prince to sit.
The prince was doubting her cooking skills and when he took a sip, his eyes widened. "It's delicious. How did you learn this?"
"I know how to cook when I was a kid. I was living alone here." She took a sip while the prince was busy roaming his eyes around the corner of the small house.
"Do you have parents?"
"I think you shouldn't ask me about that. It's complicated." She looked upset that was why the prince started being silent. He was thinking about being careful in asking questions for Prime. At first, he suspected his identity, but now knowing the truth, he was convinced that Prime was living alone and had never been the same with the person he knew with captivating eyes.
"What do you want to know?" Prime broke the ice as he was adamant to ask first.
"Nothing. I respect your privacy and I think I was getting out of the line. I apologize for that."
"You know, you're the prince who is humble."
He chuckled and told him, "Thank you, but I am not. I am doing my best to get what I want."
"Do you mean persistent?" He raised a brow and smirked.
"Yes, being persistent in doing a thing will make you succeed. Even if I fail, I will always look on the brighter side than the darker side."
"I agree. I think we have things in common."
The bond between the two went on and on and they became closer as time passed by. The weather was getting tough. The lightning and the thunder were making Prime tremble. "I need to rest, but..."
"Are you afraid of something?" The prince was straightforward. He didn't want to ask, he wanted to know the truth behind his trembling body. "I am here, Prime."
She started panicking, her eyes were closed and her body was shaking. "Look into my eyes, Prime. Look into my eyes." He moved against his body, caressing his head, and repeated, "Look into my eyes. I'm here."
The rain was getting loud and the wind was blowing slowly, but strongly.
"I am afraid of being alone here."
The prince told him to be calm and he was making him feel his comfort. "Look into my eyes." She didn't. That was why he covered his ears and made him look into his eyes.
"Are you still afraid?"
Prime's heart was beating rapidly. It was getting louder when he realized that he was close to the prince. He was telling his heart not to get louder, preventing the prince from noticing it. He realized that his hazel eyes were round. It was making him fascinated by what his hazel eyes were telling him not to be afraid.
