The Main Character Killed The Villain

After pushing all the confused Espers whose attacks weren’t working at all and the panicking guides into the UFO.

I moved to the vicinity of the boss mob, barely visible in the distance, cradled in Hyun Dowoon’s arms. Up close, Shin Haejun was struggling to remove the boss mob’s barrier.

“How powerful are S-class Espers?”

A-class Espers were knocked out without even putting up a fight, and Shin Haejun seemed to be having difficulty conquering it alone. Although I had been to the dungeon alone with Hyun Dowoon before, I had relied too much on my items to really gauge his skills. I couldn’t grasp how amazing S-class Espers really were.

“S-class Espers can literally part the sea and annihilate hundreds of thousands in one shot.”

“Then why are they struggling?”

“It’s not so much struggling… I’m more curious why he’s not actively trying to save him.”

“What?”

Shin Haejun is just carelessly abandoning his guide?

‘He called him his pair guide.’

He turned around when he heard Kim Sehyun was captured. He was going to save him.

‘But why?’

I frowned as I looked at Shin Haejun. Then Hyun Dowoon whispered in my ear.

“S-class bosses are dangerous. Berserk monsters exert 150% of their power. This boss is an undiscovered monster, so it will be even trickier to deal with. And it doesn’t seem to match well with Esper Shin Haejun’s abilities.”

“Then it’s true that he can’t save him because it’s too difficult, right?”

“It’s difficult. But… the Shin Haejun I know is a much more incredible Esper. He’s not the leader of Team 1 for nothing.”

But why is he in this state now…?

The only skill Shin Haejun was using was matter manipulation. Why wasn’t he using other skills?

‘I should throw the elixir first and think later.’

Thinking this, I threw the elixir towards Kim Sehyun, whose lips had turned black.

The elixir bottle flew in an instant, drawing an arc… and pathetically dropped to the ground.

‘No way, Jaeha has no money, low rank, can’t cook, no agility, and can’t even throw a bottle?’

What on earth can he do? How does he expect to navigate this harsh world with just a pretty face!

It’s really stressful. As I stood there with my mouth open, staring at the shattered bottle on the ground, Hyun Dowoon lifted my chin to close my mouth.

“Should I send that to Guide Kim Sehyun?”

“That’s right. I thought I could just throw it, but I just realized I’m not a baseball player.”

I laughed dryly. Then Hyun Dowoon grabbed my hand, pressed it to his cheek, and grinned.

“What’s the problem? You can leave it to your Esper.”

Hyun Dowoon’s face looked so mischievous as he said this that I absentmindedly took out a new elixir.

“I’ll teleport it right in front of him.”

Ah… so he can send objects too. I nodded and opened the elixir cap.

“He doesn’t look like he’s in a state to drink it, so sprinkle it over his head.”

“Understood.”

Hyun Dowoon held the elixir in his hand and immediately teleported it above Kim Sehyun’s head.

The open elixir plummeted downwards. Kim Sehyun spluttered as if he’d been hit with a bucket of water. Still, he managed to drink some of it, and the elixir that entered through his wounds as he was being dragged seemed to take effect, as Kim Sehyun’s lips returned to their pink color.

‘I prevented him from becoming sickly as the author wanted.’

There must be a reason Nine gave that warning. The consequences for me, a mere supporting character, would probably have been disastrous.

That’s why I deliberately gave him the elixir instead of an antidote potion. The elixir, which can completely heal the body to perfect condition with just a single drop, would perfectly heal Kim Sehyun’s condition.

This should count as roughly saving him. Now it’s up to Shin Haejun to handle the rest, but…

‘Why isn’t he moving properly?’

Shin Haejun was using telekinesis with a very indifferent expression. He looked like he was just going through the motions out of duty. He didn’t seem to genuinely want to save Kim Sehyun.

He was always cold and critical towards everyone, but now he seemed particularly upset.

‘He didn’t seem to be in a panic even though he clearly saw Kim Sehyun was poisoned.’

Wouldn’t it be a problem if his only pair guide, with a 98% matching rate no less, died in the dungeon? Why does he have that expression?

Ding!

Just then, the quest reward notification popped up. I needed to check this, but being in Hyun Dowoon’s arms was a problem. It would look completely weird to check my phone in this situation.

‘I need to send Hyun Dowoon over there.’

It’s annoying for my Esper to save someone else’s guide. But we can’t keep throwing elixirs forever, so we need to save him quickly. It would be perfect if I could check my phone at the same time.

‘The only skill Shin Haejun can use is matter manipulation. His charm skill probably won’t work on the boss mob.’

Changing gravity or calling a frost storm would kill Kim Sehyun in one shot, so he couldn’t use those. That means he had to put more effort into matter manipulation, but Shin Haejun was already spreading his power thin trying to change the poison.

“Center Director, could you try attacking with summoning while casting a poison-healing barrier on Shin Haejun and Sehyun? I think it would be better if Shin Haejun could focus on removing the barrier with his telekinesis for detoxification.”

“It’s possible, but I can’t do it while holding you. I need to get closer, but it’s too dangerous for you.”

“Then put me down and go. I can use the elixir I sprinkled on Sehyun infinitely, so I’ll never be affected by the poison. Honestly, even if something attacks me, I’ll heal instantly.”

At my words, Hyun Dowoon’s expression immediately hardened. Then he tightened his arms around me a little more.

“But… hmm. I want to grant your request, but… honestly, I don’t want to. I need to protect you.”

“But… it’s too much for Sehyun to hang on like that for long. Sehyun is still my friend, so…”

I looked up at Hyun Dowoon and let out a deep sigh. Hyun Dowoon’s eyes wavered for a moment.

This was the first proper request I’d made since forming a pair. Finally, Hyun Dowoon stroked my cheek once with eyes dripping with honey and put me down.

“I’ll handle this quickly and come back.”

Then he summoned a small clay doll-shaped monster next to me, ordered it to protect me, and teleported to Shin Haejun’s side.

Finally alone, I tapped the monster once and took out my phone.

: *Let’s save a friend*

Quest Grade: B

You have completed the quest. You will receive a reward!

Reward: Access to plot of Chapter 38 of “How to Be Loved by an S-Class Esper”

The reward is… significant. It seems that what’s happening now is the scene from Chapter 38.

‘If I look at the plot, I can know what will happen next.’

This was as useful a reward as sneaking a peek at the author’s social media. It’s a shame that it’s only possible for one chapter though.

‘Should I try to make a deal with Nine?’

After rolling my eyes for a moment, I whispered softly to my phone.

“Nine, is there any way I could get access to more of the plot?”

Nine gave an unexpected answer to my question.

: My ability is insufficient!

“Your ability is insufficient?”

: The author’s ability is insufficient! The plot keeps flying away! It’s meaningless!

Nine’s face looked very excited as they said the author’s ability was insufficient. And I was satisfied too. My role in making the author’s plot fly away must have been quite significant.

I grinned and immediately pressed the quest reward. A short plot appeared.

※Chapter 38: Due to the protective barrier, Sehyun remains captured by the boss mob and can’t be freed. To save Sehyun, who is slowly dying from poison, Dowoon tells Haejun, whom he usually dislikes, to definitely save Sehyun and moves Haejun inside the barrier.

Haejun, once moved, immediately jumps up to grab Sehyun, then attacks the boss mob by manipulating gravity to repeatedly slam it into the ground and lift it into the sky.

As soon as the boss mob dies, Dowoon worries about Sehyun and casts a healing skill. However, because Sehyun was exposed to the poison for too long, he continues to cough up blood.

‘Come to me instead of the Esper who couldn’t protect you.’

Tears fall from Dowoon’s eyes. Seeing Sehyun breathing faintly, Haejun, suddenly afraid of losing him, hugs Sehyun tightly and begins to regret.

After reading the plot, I looked up to see the two Espers standing in the distance.

This… isn’t it completely off from “slowly dying from poison”? The author must be tearing their hair out right now.

‘Anyway, the flow is similar.’

I watched the unfolding situation for a moment with a “hmm,” and then noticed something strange.

At first, the flow was the same up to the point where Shin Haejun moved inside the protective barrier with Hyun Dowoon’s help. But before Shin Haejun could grab Kim Sehyun inside, suddenly the boss mob started spewing a dark purple mist that anyone could see shouldn’t be touched.

“Argh!”

Kim Sehyun screamed as if in extreme pain.

The mist was an extremely potent poison. Kim Sehyun’s body, which had just been detoxified and healed by the thrown elixir, instantly went limp. This time, not just his lips, but his entire skin turned purple.

‘What, now he’s not poisoned according to the current development…’

Don’t tell me they added a sentence like ‘An even more severe poison mist than before was released, attacking Sehyun.’ Are they trying to make Kim Sehyun as sickly as possible to evoke sympathy?

‘What the..!’

I cursed inwardly as I watched Shin Haejun first take the limp Kim Sehyun out of the barrier. I didn’t want to touch that mist either, so I planned to keep watching the situation for now.

Once Kim Sehyun was out, the unrestricted Shin Haejun unleashed all sorts of chaos, freezing, throwing, and shattering the boss monster with frost storms. It was only because there was a person inside that he couldn’t do anything before, but now I could see that Shin Haejun really was S-class.

‘Maybe because the plot is ruined, the skills seem to have changed too.’

It felt like I was seeing direct evidence of the story changing.

‘Even if there’s an elixir, if the author describes it as a poison that can’t be cured by anything, it won’t be of any use.’

If that’s the case, it would be better to make Hyun Dowoon cure Kim Sehyun’s poison according to the flow of the story. I had already confirmed that while the main trunk of the story doesn’t change, the details change according to my actions. So I was confident that even if my items as an external factor didn’t work, Hyun Dowoon’s skills would be effective.

Anyway, I can’t stand to see Kim Sehyun become sickly from the effects of the poison and go around wreaking havoc.

‘The Love Coins that accumulated earlier… this is what they’re for.’

I might get scolded by Hyun Dowoon, but I decided to approach those two. I couldn’t let Hyun Dowoon only half-heal Kim Sehyun as per the author’s intention.

‘It’s now or never.’

It was time to drastically strengthen my Esper.
