“Painful truths”
-------------------------
Evileye POV
They flew over the capital that had been engulfed in flames, since Momon was not a magic caster and therefore not able fly he was being supported by Nabe and her. Even though they were slower than usually they had made good ground and penetrated deep inside the enemy
territory, in fact they had come so far that they had even been able to observe some fighting from above, which had prompted Momon to plunge down to help the frightened and disorganized city guards who were helplessly trying to stop the advancing demons.
She lowered her gaze to the back of the black warrior's head, since he had told them his story he had been
unnaturally quiet and although according to her knowledge he hadn't always been a big talker this was something extreme. The last time she had heard him speak was when he had encouraged the freighted city guards that he had saved from the demons, at that moment, as he spoke she had seen the man, NO, the hero he had portrait when he had saved her from Jaldabaoth. But now there was little to be seen from that man, and she wondered if perhaps it was the story that had affected him so much.
Everyone saw that great Hero in Momon, this unmovable wall, this savior that they could rely on, she had seen Momon like this as well, but know that she had heard his story she understood. He wasn't a hero, not because he lacked strength like Climb, not because he lacked goodwill like her, no, he had almost all the qualities a hero needed. There was only one thing he lacked, she realized, the one thing that had been taken from him in that fateful night, the one thing that stopped him from being the hero she knew he was.
Conviction
By destroying his purpose the female vampire had taken everything from him, Not only had she broken him, she had also taken away any possibility of escape. Through the death of his family she had rewritten his beliefs, he was now no longer a protector but an avenger, the destruction of the village not only reinforced this but left him no other choice. Apart from his desire for revenge there was nothing left, everyone he knew except Nabe was dead. The village was destroyed, his family was dead, he was no longer required. There was nothing left to protect or love and that left him with only one choice.
Revenge
"Fly lower, I saw something on the square" a deep voice interrupted her thoughts
They lowered their altitude and cautiously flew to the place he mentioned. In fact, at the spot pointed out by Momon, one could see a figure dressed in red, standing in the middle of the square without a care and in an arrogant posture. It was Jadabaoth, without a doubt, because even with the modest distance between them, she could feel the raw power that he seemed to radiate and that had previously frightened her so much. Of course, it was different now that Momon was at her side giving her courage
And yet... even with all that there was a small voice of doubt in her head wondering if Momon had a chance against Jaldabaoth and the mysterious vampire Momon mentioned. One she had no doubt about but against two opponents of similar strength that remained to be seen.
"Oh, sir Momon what a delightful surprise, you have made it" said the demon, making an elegant bow
"Enough games where is she Jaldabaoth?" Momon demanded with a harsh tone.
"So harsh, is that how you great everybody these days? And I thought you were a gentleman" Jaldabaoth said with false disappointment in his voice.
"But since it is true that you came here for her and not for me, I will forgive you" The demon spoke as if he was giving Momon a gift
"That's ridiculous, as if we should be grateful to you for anything. Also, where are my friends? You promised they would be here." someone shouted, and it took her a few seconds to realize it had been her.
"Such a noisy girl, It seems you still haven't learned to be quiet in case I have a conversation with someone else but just as I said before I have no idea the only person that could know that right now is..."
CRASH
As if out of nowhere, the ground exploded in front of them, the stone broke and dust was thrown up, blocking their view.
~Helloooooo~ a child's voice, as clear as a bell, echoed through the night, causing Momon to stiffen immediately
Slowly the dust began to settle, and the view became clearer. With careful, shy steps a small figure emerged from the cover of the dust screen. Small feet covered in dark brown leather sandals were the first thing she saw. As she began to look up, she noticed the tasteful dark violet dress that even she, who used to be a princess, could only look at with envy. The platinum blonde, almost white hair falling in two innocent braids over her shoulder only enhanced the beauty that the dress took away from her. Add to that pale skin like the full moon in the dark night, and you could have considered her perfect.
Perfect? But there were also her eyes, ohh her eyes, bright red, even more intense than her own. When she looked into those eyes and saw that raw innocence in them, all she wanted to do was run over and pinch her cheek and she probably would have done that if she hadn't been interrupted.
~Ihihihihihihihi, oh Momon it has been such a...~
ARGGGGGGGGHHHHH a loud scream interrupted the little girls greeting
Astonishment flashed across her gentle face, which the next moment turned to anger as she looked at her left arm, still covered in a cloud of dust.
~Silence~ The girl ordered in a tone that was probably meant to sound commanding
UHRRRRRRRR whimpered the person hidden by the cloud of dust
The dust around her hand slowly cleared and revealed a man. He was probably an adventurer, as you could see from his clothes, but now instead of the warrior who was supposed to defend humanity, he only looked like a battered wreck. And who could have blamed him? Around his neck you could see some strangulation marks, one leg was torn off and the arm she was holding was bent several times at a strange angle.
~Shut your mouth, or would you like me to twist your arm even tighter? Or wait, what if I tear out your tongue? Mmmmm, but this way you could probably still scream...~ the girl asked with a sadistic smile on her face
“Elisabeth” the black warrior interrupted her murmur
~Mmm? Oh Momon, you cameeeee, you really came, just for meeeeeee. Ahahahahahaha, and I feared you would never come, I even thought that I had to destroy something other you loved just because you took so long, buuuuuuut you are hereeeeee~ The little girl celebrated and shook her arms, eliciting a few screams from the man she was holding by the hand
"What" asked the black warrior and clearly showed the anger in his voice
~And you even found out my name, ehehe, who told you? I am reaaaaally curious you know, we really have a lot to catch up to...~
"What do you mean" the black warrior interrupted her once again with more steel in his voice
~Ehh~ the little child seemed to ask
"What do you mean? You have taken everything from me, my village, my family my child, and you say you want to take even more from me? Have you not taken enough? Why must you..."
RITSCH
AAAAAARG
Splash
A small projectile had whizzed through the air and burst on Momon's black armor, a dark red liquid began to slowly flow down the armor and screams from the man who Elisabeth had been holding in her hand and who had now lost another part of his body rang out through the night.
AAAAAAAAAAHHHHH
AHHHHHHHHH
ARGHHHHHHHH
Slash
Another cut, with her arm and the man's head fell lifeless to the ground along with the body.
~Booooooring~ declared the little girl
~Both of you, he couldn't stop screaming, and you couldn't stop talking. You asked how I could have made you suffer more, and I will answer you. Killing your little girlfriend Nabe would definitely have been painful, but compared to your wife, it's nothing, right? So what could top your wife's death? The answer is very simple, I don't have to top it, the truth is often more painful than a lie, and your wife's death is a lie after all, her body was not found.~ The vampire girl giggled sweetly, licking the remains of the adventure's blood from her thumb.
"So you want to give me hope that my wife isn't dead to cause me more pain? Ridiculous as if I would believe that" Momon asked bewildered.
~Ohhh noooooooo, your wife is indeed dead~ giggled Elisabeth and grinned victoriously at him
"Then..."
~But you know what? I was not the one that killed her, it was not even one of my subordinates that did it~ the girl mocked.
"Tell me then, I am confident it will not shake me" Momon replied
~Haa, suit yourself, it's a win-win for me anyway. The person that killed her...~ Elisabeth started grinning widely.
~...was you~
