Chapter 67: Goblin Armor
Lone Eye and the others exchanged a tacit look and continued to chat about everything and nothing.
“Shiba, come with us. What’s the point of staying in the city guard?” Iron Head seemed to have a good impression of Yi Shiba and was reluctant to let him go.
“What’s the point of following you guys?” Yi Shiba felt depressed, took a big gulp of alcohol, and although he was only in his twenties, he looked older than his years.
“Follow us…” Iron Head was about to say something but was stopped by a look from Lie Feng, and quickly changed his tune. “Follow us and drink, have money rolling in. Although we lick our blades, we’re like brothers, living and dying together.”
Yi Shiba’s cold expression violently fluctuated at the last words of ‘like brothers, living and dying together.’ After a while, he sneered, “Living together is fine, but dying together? Who in this world would die with me? When glory is upon me, brothers are everywhere, but when I’m in despair, where are they? They all avoid me like the plague and kick me when I’m down.”
Yi Shiba seemed to recall some painful memories, his eyes filled with endless pain. He slammed down his glass and turned to leave the bar.
Iron Head wanted to call out to him but was stopped by Lie Feng.
“Iron Head, forget it. This kid won’t change his mind because of your words,” Lie Feng said. He was older and more experienced than Iron Head and wouldn’t easily trust someone.
“I don’t know why, but I feel like I get along with this kid,” Iron Head chuckled.
“Iron Head, are you interested in men?” Lone Eye looked disgusted.
“Get lost. You’re the one interested in men,” Iron Head retorted with a laugh.
Lie Feng seemed to have thought of something and said, “Two years ago, there was a camp explosion incident in the Blade Army of the Saint Yana Alliance. It was said that someone rebelled and many soldiers were executed. This Yi Shiba may be involved in this incident.”
Just then, a bunny girl squeezed past them, wearing the bar’s standard cool attire. Her breasts were exposed, with a few faint handprints still visible on them, most likely from being groped.
“Respected heroes, my boss invites you,” the bunny girl seemed to favor Lie Feng, who had a rougher look. She placed a hand on his shoulder, with her breasts pressed against his back.
Others nearby looked surprised when they heard that the boss had invited them. The bar’s owner, Qingmu, was one of the eight Star Generals of Starfall. He was quite mysterious and rarely seen.
Lie Feng and his companions were led to the backyard of the bar, where they met Qingmu in an elegant hall. Qingmu was a human male in his early thirties, with a calm temperament and a peaceful gaze.
“I just want to ask you one thing. As long as you answer in detail, I will reward you generously,” Qingmu said, pulling out a large bag and opening it to reveal a bag full of glittering gold coins in front of the three men.
The eyes of the three men widened at the sight of the bag full of gold coins. Lie Feng, Iron Head and Lone Eye were staring straight ahead, their mouths watering.
Seeing their expressions, Qingmu smiled in satisfaction and asked, “I heard you encountered the Viscount, Qi Bei Nord’s team, on the way. When and where did you meet them?”
“Three days ago, we met them in a sheltered valley on the way,” Lie Feng replied, but his gaze remained fixed on the bag of gold coins.
“Did you really see three elf girls with Qi Bei Nord?” Qingmu asked again, with a hint of anxiety in his eyes.
“It’s not a lie. Those three elf girls were so beautiful and had different professions. They were unforgettable at first sight,” Iron Head said.
“Were they being forced?” Qingmu asked anxiously, his expression no longer as calm, and his gaze became sharp.
“It doesn’t seem like it. They were laughing and joking with Qi Bei and looked very intimate,” Lone Eye replied.
Qingmu frowned, seemingly lost in thought.
“Hey, hey, we answered your questions. What about the bag of gold coins?” Lie Feng looked at the bag of gold coins greedily.
Qingmu waved his hand, and the bag of gold coins flew into Lie Feng’s arms. Then he said indifferently, “You may leave now.”
As Lie Feng and his two companions were led out, Qingmu called two ordinary-looking men and ordered, “Keep an eye on these three and find out their identities.”
………
Qi Bei had been staring at the glass box in front of him for some time now. Inside were the armor and jade disc left behind by the Goblin civilization. However, the Blood Wolf King had mentioned something about a deadly curse on them, so Qi Bei had to be cautious.
He knew a little about the Goblin civilization from ancient books. This civilization existed millions of years ago.
At that time, the theory of magic and battle qi had not yet appeared, and the ancestors of many races were still living in caves and eating raw meat. However, goblins had already established a massive underground empire.
It was unimaginable to build such a world underground.
The goblin civilization was somewhat similar to the Earth civilization of Qi Bei’s past life, both of which ignored the evolution of their bodies and relied on external objects to develop.
For example, the Goth Princess’s Energy Tube, if it were perfect, would have the power of a Senior Mage’s attack magic, without consuming her own energy, and would fire much faster.
It was also said that those of the ancient Goblin civilization could fly and move through the sky and underground by relying on external objects.
“This armor from the peak of the Goblin civilization, I don’t know what its purpose is. If it can be impenetrable to swords and spears, and also exempt from magic attacks, if it can be mass-produced and equipped by an army, which force in the world can resist it?”
With a “snap,” Qi Bei slapped his thigh and laughed, “How could I forget? The Witch God was absorbed by the Dread Seal which merged with my Dragon Seal back then. If this box really has some magic, maybe it can be absorbed too.”
Qi Bei opened his palm and with a thought, the Dragon Seal in his palm emitted a dazzling golden light. He slowly approached the glass box.
Suddenly, a faint mist appeared on the glass box, but unlike the Witch God’s phantom, it dissipated in the air like ice and snow as soon as it appeared.
It really works!
When there was no more mist emanating from the box, Qi Bei concealed the Dragon Seal in his palm, lightly placed his hand on the box, and with a little force, the lid popped open.
Qi Bei took out the broken jade disc with ten fragments and placed it aside before taking out the armor from inside.
“It’s so light.” Qi Bei was surprised in his heart as he held the armor in his hand, which felt as if there was nothing. But it made sense, considering the size of a goblin’s body; even walking in heavy armor would be difficult.
Qi Bei examined the armor back and forth and found that there were five inset holes on the chest and back of the armor. He had an idea, took out a few magic crystals from his spatial ring, and randomly inserted ten of them into the holes.
However, the armor did not react at all.
At this moment, Qi Bei noticed that the inset holes on the armor were different colors and had three thin but clear lines inscribed outside the holes.
