Chapter 66: Setting The Trap
“Fire Wolf, you’re crazy, let us out!”
“This is outrageous. We’re going to report to the Blood Wolf King to have you eliminated and imprisoned for life in the Valley of Ten Thousand Insects.”
“Your Majesty…”
The Earth Wolf, Gold Wolf, and Wind Wolf all howled loudly, their faces full of anger.
“Stop it, let’s just admit defeat. If Fire Wolf dares to do this, it’s either because His Majesty ordered him to, or he is already dead at his hands.” The Water Wolf stopped the other three Wolf Generals and reluctantly said, “Obviously, the Blood Wolf King had no reason to treat us like this, so it must be the second reason.”
“Water Wolf, you truly are the strategist among us five Wolf Generals. No wonder Blood Wolf King valued you so much. Now that I am the Wolf King, as long as you obediently do things for me, your position will not change.” Fire Wolf said.
Upon hearing that Fire Wolf had killed the Blood Wolf King, the Earth Wolf, Gold Wolf, and Wind Wolf all exploded with rage, cursing loudly.
“It seems you still haven’t realized the situation. You only have two choices: first, pledge allegiance to me, or second, die!” Fire Wolf’s smile disappeared, and a fierce glint appeared in his eyes. Now, whoever obstructed him, or rather, obstructed his Lord, would die.
The Earth Wolf, Gold Wolf, and Wind Wolf fell silent, realizing their current situation. Their lives were now in the hands of this person they had once looked down on.
Meanwhile, the Water Wolf looked towards Qi Bei, who sat not far away with a serious expression. After scanning the surrounding Black-Armored soldiers, he gave a bitter smile and said, “We are willing to pledge allegiance to the Lord Viscount, Qi Bei Nord. Please spare our lives.”
Qi Bei was somewhat surprised as he looked at the refined-looking Water Wolf. This lad’s mind worked fast and he should be a good assistant.
The other three Wolf Generals looked at Qi Bei in shock. This was the little noble in their minds that they had previously dismissed, yet their life and death were now in his hands?!
Overnight, he killed the Blood Wolf King, supported Fire Wolf to take over, and now controlled the four Wolf Generals. Blood Wolf King’s great power was now easily in his grasp. This was too terrifying.
“Are you really willing to pledge allegiance?” Qi Bei stood up and asked lightly.
“I, Water Wolf, am willing to pledge allegiance.” The Water Wolf was the first to bow down, his head buried in his hands, performing the highest etiquette of the Wolf Tribe.
“We are also willing to pledge allegiance.” The other three Wolf Generals followed suit and bowed down.
Qi Bei laughed heartily, then injected his golden internal energy into their bodies, controlling them completely.
Qi Bei made his first move in West Spirit City, a perfect palace coup.
………
At night, it was very dark, the wind and snow were still raging in the northwest and showing no signs of stopping.
Three burly men, Lie Feng, Iron Head, and Lone Eye, walked into a bar called Adventurer’s Paradise, their shoulders touching each other.
As soon as they entered, a warm atmosphere greeted them, and the cold on their bodies disappeared in an instant.
Adventure Paradise was divided into upper and lower floors, and every seat was filled. Many demi-human fox and bunny waitresses, with innocent or charming looks, shuttled back and forth, serving guests various drinks. Their breasts and hips were occasionally groped, but they only grumbled a little and seemed to be used to it.
The three men were all big guys, emitting a strong aura of death. Experienced adventurers were very wary of this kind of aura and generally would not provoke these desperadoes with blood on their hands. Therefore, the three of them smoothly squeezed into the large bar counter.
“What can I get for you, three warriors?” The bartender on the counter asked with an affable smile.
“Three pints of black wheat beer,” Lone Eye said. Soon, three pints of beer were placed in front of them.
“The glasses are too small. Bring us your largest glasses,” Lone Eye banged the counter.
The bartender turned around and brought over three skull-sized glasses, causing astonishment among the surrounding customers.
One pint of black wheat beer was poured into each glass, filling it up perfectly.
The three men drank and soon started chatting randomly with spittle flying everywhere. Most of what they said were legendary stories, which made people around them listen with great interest and occasionally interjected with jokes, creating a lively atmosphere.
“Drinking beer with such large glasses is enjoyable, but it’s not as thrilling as drinking from a human head,” Lie Feng spouted his beer and shook his head.
“Drinking from a human head? Big guy, you’re bragging,” someone laughed.
Lie Feng laughed and said, “Kid, you’re still too young. Use a freshly cut-off human head, scoop out the brain inside, pour liquor into it, and then drink it while it’s still warm, along with the blood. That’s the real thrill.”
As he spoke, Lie Feng licked his lips, with a look of reminiscence on his face.
Lie Feng’s expression and vivid storytelling made some people’s faces turn pale, and the liquor in their glasses seemed to take on a slightly bloody hue.
“Have you really drunk like that?” Lone Eye had been wandering around for years and had never heard of such a thing.
“He has,” suddenly a voice rang out.
The three turned to see a young man who appeared cold and tough answering them.
“It’s you,” Iron Head exclaimed. The young man was none other than the city guard who had confronted them at the city gate. Du Shou had called him Yi Shiba.
“How did you know?” someone asked.
“Because I’ve drunk it too,” Yi Shiba responded coldly.
Lie Feng’s eyes narrowed. In the army, the Head Cup is a drink reserved only for soldiers who had killed enemy generals and taken their heads.
“Since we’re comrades, let’s have a drink together,” Lie Feng invited.
Yi Shiba didn’t refuse and came over to sit with Lie Feng and the others.
Suddenly someone mentioned Qi Bei, the new lord who was about to take over West Spirit City, and they began discussing whether he would actually dare to come.
Iron Head and Lone Eye exchanged a look and Lone Eye spoke up. “You guys are talking about Qi Bei Nord. I escorted a caravan that ran into him on the way here. He’s almost here, and you’re still guessing if he’ll come?”
“Really? What does Qi Bei Nord look like, and how many men did he bring?” someone asked.
“Heh, Qi Bei is handsome, absolutely capable of enchanting women from 8 to 80 years old. And he must have at least a thousand men and horses,” Lone Eye said.
“Ha ha ha, you’re right, I saw him too. That boy is really good-looking, and he’s surrounded by three pure elven beauties. He’s not afraid of being drained dry at night. What a fortunate guy,” Iron Head chimed in, a lecherous look on his face.
At that moment, the bartender seemed to be interested too and asked, “Are they really pure elves? What do they look like?”
“Beautiful, very beautiful!” Iron Head exclaimed, rubbing his bald head.
“They’re also three different professions: an elven warrior, an elven archer, and an elven mage. They’re completely devoted to Qi Bei,” Lone Eye continued.
The bartender’s eyes lit up, and he called someone else to take his place. He then quietly left the bar and went to a courtyard behind it.
