Chapter 167: Exchange Group
Breaking through to the realm of an Earth-grade warrior, the most notable change is that patterns appear on the condensed qi pills. These patterns cause a qualitative transformation in the pill, greatly enhancing their attacking power. However, it was evident that Qi Bei had four pills, but they were smooth without any patterns.
Swish!
Just then, the ghost beside him seemed to have noticed something. A chilling divine sense penetrated Qi Bei’s body, circled around his middle dantian, and then withdrew.
What is this kid cultivating? I’ve never heard of anyone being able to cultivate a space capable of containing energy below. Moreover, that golden energy can even melt my divine sense. The ghost pondered in its mind.
Qi Bei opened his eyes and asked, “What’s going on with me? Do you know?”
“Let me explain. The human body’s network is divided into nine grids, each capable of containing a qi cyclone or a condensed qi pill or… well, something like that. But your body doesn’t have those grids. It’s unheard of. So, even though you’ve condensed the fourth pill, you still haven’t broken through,” the ghost’s tone also sounded quite peculiar.
“Grids huh… Why can’t I see them when I use my mental perception?” Qi Bei asked.
“Of course, you can’t see them,” the ghost said.
“Then what should I do?” Qi Bei asked with a wry smile.
“Well, I don’t know either,” the ghost replied.
Qi Bei touched his nose. Before reaching the King-grade realm, his qi cyclones were supposed to be condensed into pill form when there were nine of them, right?
However, what he didn’t know was that before the transformation into pills, he actually had ten qi cyclones, not nine.
It was precisely that tenth cyclone that broke the constant pattern, causing the grids in Qi Bei’s body to disappear and making him someone who transcended the rules. But now, Qi Bei didn’t know any of this, nor did he understand what it meant.
Soon, he stopped thinking about it. If even this ancient relic like the ghost didn’t know, his overthinking wouldn’t be of any use.
“Swallow this.” The ghost tossed a black pill to Qi Bei and spoke up.
Qi Bei reached out and took it. The pill emitted a sour and putrid odor, making it difficult to swallow. However, if he didn’t eat it, the ghost would probably take direct action.
Pinching his nose, Qi Bei swallowed the pill, only to find that despite the foul smell, it melted in his mouth and had a surprisingly sweet taste.
In an instant, a shiver ran through Qi Bei’s body, caused by a circle of black flames that suddenly burst out from his body. However, the dragon seal on Qi Bei’s palm ignited with a radiant glow, unleashing a torrent of golden light that swiftly consumed the black flames, flowing back into the seal.
The ghost seemed stunned, as if something unexpected had happened on Qi Bei’s body.
“How could this be…” it hoarsely muttered.
Qi Bei, on the other hand, didn’t feel anything special. It was just that the golden flame-like stream at the tail of the dragon image within the dragon seal seemed to have grown stronger.
“Well, well!” the ghost muttered to itself, but Qi Bei was completely confused, having no idea what was going on with the ghost.
“Do you have something to tell me?” Qi Bei asked.
“Nothing,” the ghost denied. Then it threw a spatial ring to Qi Bei and said, “There are some things inside. Take a look when you go back, and come find me tomorrow.”
“I wanted to ask you something… hey…” Qi Bei had just opened his mouth when he was abruptly sent flying by a tremendous force.
When he regained his senses, he found himself outside the abandoned building.
“What on earth is going on?” Qi Bei grumbled. He rushed back in again but discovered that the entrance to the secret passage and the dead female student from the academy had disappeared without a trace.
Qi Bei furrowed his brow. He didn’t like this feeling of being completely clueless, as if someone was manipulating everything.
Back in his room at the inn, Qi Bei took out the items from the spatial ring. Inside was a set of attire and an identification badge from the Sunset Royal Battle Qi Academy.
“Shi Liumang, the dead rascal… What the hell? They want this young master to take his place?” Qi Bei rolled his eyes as he read the name and introduction on the identification badge.
Shi Liumang, an orphan from the Shi family town in the Falling Sunset Kingdom, was admitted to the Falling Sunset Academy due to his talent. He had a solitary personality and no friends.
“Why would they want me to take his place and become a student at the Sunset Royal Academy? What is the old man up to with the grand ceremony just two months away…?” Qi Bei wondered in his heart.
The next day, Qi Bei put on the uniform of the Sunset Royal Academy and wore the magical mask given to him by the ghost.
Looking at his disguised self in the mirror, Qi Bei shook his head. The reflection of Shi Liumang in the mirror had a pale complexion, messy hair, and average facial features that blended into the crowd, the type of person who would be easily overlooked.
With his identification badge, Qi Bei confidently entered the academy and arrived at the elegant courtyard where the dean, Mo Fang, resided.
With unanswered doubts in his heart and a slightly discontented mood, Qi Bei kicked open the courtyard door without hesitation.
Just then, a beautiful woman dressed in a fiery red robe flew out from inside the room, her face full of anger, and she immediately threw a fireball at Qi Bei.
But Qi Bei paid no attention to the fireball and simply slapped it back at an even faster speed.
The woman was surprised, and she pointed her wand forward, causing the fireball to dissipate in the air.
“Which class are you from? How dare you intrude into the dean’s residence?” the woman angrily shouted but didn’t make another move.
“And who are you? The dean’s wife?” Qi Bei asked.
“You…” The woman’s face turned pale with anger. She brandished her wand and swiftly began reciting an incantation.
However, at that moment, a gentle force intervened, disrupting the rhythm of the woman’s spell.
“Ziyu, let him in,” a voice from inside said, sounding old.
“Dad, you should kick this rascal student out of the academy,” Mo Ziyu grumbled.
“You’re right. My surname is Shi, and my name is Liumang,” Qi Bei paused as he passed by Mo Ziyu and said with a mischievous smile. ((TL: liú máng in chinese means ‘hoodlum’ or ‘rascal’))
Mo Ziyu naturally thought that Qi Bei was mocking her. If she weren’t afraid of her father’s authority, she would definitely teach him a lesson.
Qi Bei walked straight into the study and saw a refined old man sitting inside. With his keen eyes, if he didn’t know in advance, he wouldn’t be able to tell that there was anything abnormal about this Dean Mo.
Seeing Qi Bei staring at him with a suspicious gaze, Dean Mo’s face was momentarily covered in a layer of white smoke, but it quickly returned to normal.
“I want to know why I was arranged to become a student in the academy,” Qi Bei asked.
“In a few days, the academy will form an exchange group to go to the Golden Leaf Empire, and you will be one of them,” Dean Mo replied.
“Why go through all this trouble?” Qi Bei asked. This was more than just a simple trouble.
“Just do as you’re told,” Dean Mo clearly didn’t want to explain.
Qi Bei sneered inwardly and said, “If you don’t explain clearly, I will leave the Sunset Royal City immediately.”
“Fine, let me tell you this. All members of your Nord family are under the surveillance of the Temple. They already have some evidence, and if an order is given, your family will be completely wiped out,” Dean Mo said calmly.
Qi Bei remained silent for a moment before speaking, “Are you saying that our Nord family belongs to the dark faction?”
“No, although I belong to the dark faction, I don’t control your family and don’t want any relationship with your family. You need to understand the risks I’m taking right now. I can only say this much, you don’t need to ask any further. If you want to leave, please do,” Dean Mo said.
