Splitting the Heavens

Chapter 1379: Looking for the Way and Coincidental Run In

Chapter 1379: Looking for the Way and Coincidental Run In

“What is your name?” Shang Xia looked at the Martial Dipper Realm expert and asked.

Not daring to raise his head to look at Shang Xia directly, he mumbled cautiously, “True Immortal, I am called Jing Hui and I am at your service!”

“Jing Hui...” Shang Xia chuckled softly. “You’re a smart person... You managed to find a way for all of you to live.”

Jing Hui lowered his body once again, and he knew that Shang Xia had seen through his intentions. His back was drenched in cold sweat.

When the giant palm that contained Seventh Order energy appeared earlier and Zhang Shun controlled their Star Ship from a distance to act as a sacrifice, they not only realized that they had been given up by their sect. They also understood that Zhang Shun had chosen to betray the high-level True Immortal on board.

If those cultivators who were from the Wanyun Association and had grown up in the faction still maintained a shred of loyalty to them, their feelings would be in stark contrast to the high-level Immortal before them. There would only be hatred in the heart of the high-level True Immortal.

Under such circumstances, if any of them were still stupid enough to declare their loyalty to the Wanyun Association in front of Shang Xia, they would probably be blown to bits!

Rather than dying with the crazy fool who wanted to go against Shang Xia earlier, they might as well kill him off first. At the very least, they would still have a chance of living after doing so.

Jing Hui maintained his calm, but the storm raging in his heart couldn’t be hidden from Shang Xia.

Shang Xia didn’t kill him immediately. No matter what, the other party had given up and it wasn’t that he was unwilling to let them live... If they provided him with the knowledge of what he wanted.

Looking at Jing Hui, Shang Xia muttered casually, “Alright, what do you guys plan to do next?”

Jing Hui responded immediately, “True Immortal, even though the Star Ship suffered great damage, if you are able to help us for some time, I will be able to restore a portion of the protective runes that will allow the wreckage to travel through the chaotic space for some time...”

Shang Xia raised an eyebrow slightly and asked, “Are you a Formation Grandmaster?”

Thinking about how Jing Hui had been sent to hand him the inheritance for the Talisman Formation earlier, it wasn’t impossible for him to be one.

However, it wouldn’t be easy to restore the protective runes on the ship!

It seemed as though Jing Hui’s true intent would be to request for a Myriad Tinted Cloud Talisman. That would also mean that he knew of Shang Xia’s identity as a Talisman Grandmaster.

Jing Hui replied quickly, “I know a little about formations... I can be considered a rank two Formation Master, but as the person in charge of the ship, I know a whole lot about it. I took part in the deployment of the formations on the ship before we set off and have been maintaining it for some time...”

Shang Xia nodded. “Bring your men and restore the formation.”

His words pretty much confirmed that he still had a Myriad Tinted Cloud Talisman that could be used to activate the Talisman Formation if required.

Jing Hui was a powerful Martial Dipper Realm expert, and someone like him should be nurtured to become the next True Immortal. However, someone like him had been given up so easily by the experts of the Wanyun Association.

There were barely 20 members who survived the destroyed Star Ship, but with their desire to live, they quickly sprung into action to restore the protection layers on the ship.

Most of the resources on board had been destroyed, but all of them had their personal stash. There were even some smarter ones who grabbed whatever they could before entering the secret chamber back then. Now that they had a chance to live, they quickly put the resources to use.

Shang Xia didn’t interfere with anything they did. He merely watched as they did their jobs, but without his domain ensuring the safety of the wreckage, they wouldn’t have been able to complete the restoration of the protection formation.

It didn’t take long for the preliminary work to be complete. At the very least, from the outside, the countless holes were patched up with the protection barrier. Even the runes around the ship started to shine once again and as someone who had seen how formations work, Shang Xia could tell that everything was proceeding smoothly.

Splitting off a portion to watch how all of them worked, Shang Xia discovered that the entire ship was created from an entire piece of special material. The runes that were on every part of the ship were arranged in a specific order.

As long as they restored a portion of the deck, they would be able to continue strengthening the protection of the ship.

The Star Ship suffered heavy damage and all of them who lived started to search around for any remaining scraps. They were unable to restore a huge portion of the runes, but they were at least able to activate the protection formation again.

Jing Hui returned and reported back to Shang Xia in excitement, “True Immortal, the Myriad Tinted Cloud Talisman Formation has many uses. The main function is to defend, and the formation is usually placed on the main body of the ship. As long as we have the talisman, we will be able to strengthen the protection on a good portion of the ship.”

“Hehe...” Shang Xia chuckled softly and knew what Jing Hui wanted. However, he didn’t mention it. Instead, he activated the last Myriad Tinted Cloud Talisman he had on him before a multicolored light appeared and covered the ship. Shang Xia also retracted his domain.

Not long after, the Star Ship rumbled back to life and started traveling through the chaotic streams of space. The only problem was that it was barely crawling...

“Can we still find our way and travel in the original direction we were going?” Shang Xia looked into the depths of the chaotic streams of space and asked one of the cultivators beside him.

Those who survived were clearly part of the core members of the Wanyun Association. They might not be the strongest, but they were the most important.

With Jing Hui’s instructions, a Martial Extermination Realm expert stumbled out while cowering in fear. In Shang Xia’s eyes, that was the weakest cultivator of the Wanyun Association he had seen among the survivors.

“True Immortal, this Junior Brother Che Qinyue. He is my... he is the Wanyun Association’s Stargazer. However, his studies aren’t complete yet and he is only at the second rank. When we were traveling through the chaotic streams, he was the person guiding us.”

“Oh?” Shang Xia looked at the person and launched. “Alright, there’s no need to worry. Speak your mind.”

Che Qinyue gulped before stuttering, “True Immortal, I... I... I can’t find the direction we came from.”

After he spoke, he quickly explained as though he was afraid he would enrage Shang Xia, “I... I... I am just a rank two disciple who is trying to become a Stargazer. I barely understood the chart the Twin Star Pirates left behind. It’s not a problem to follow them, but after being thrown so far off course, I can’t determine where we are! True Immortal, please forgive me!”

By the time the words left his lips, he felt beads of perspiration dripping down his forehead.

Shang Xia wasn’t surprised at all. It was just a rank two Star Disciple. If he had the ability to find his way through the chaotic streams, that would be really weird.

Then again... Shang Xia managed to prove that outside the Heaven Observation Field, the Stargazer inheritance was pretty much nonexistent.

As a mighty Elysium of an Essence World, the number of True Immortals the Wanyun Association had was nearly half of what the Spirit Luxuriant World produced. Even so, the Stargazer they could nurture was barely of the second rank... Even the Twin Star Pirates needed 2 Stargazers in order to chart a path to a world.

From Shang Xia’s exchange with Gong Zhuo and Zhang Shun in the past, he had already determined that they lacked the inheritance.

Shang Xia stared at the nervous Martial Extermination Realm cultivator and laughed, “What suggestions do you have?”

Shang Xia added, “Please, go ahead and suggest something.”

Che Qinyue revealed an expression that was terrifyingly ugly and eventually sighed, “True Immortal, we can only fly around the streams of chaotic space and try our luck...”

Everyone on board fell silent.

Only a moment later did Jing Hui speak again, “True Immortal, are you able to find out where we were attacked?”

Shang Xia shook his head with a regretful expression, “After shattering the palm, even I don’t know where we were thrown to in the streams of chaotic space. Finding you guys was because I lucked out in the first place.”

Despair filled the hearts of those who heard what he said.

“Let’s just drift around then. All of you should hasten your recovery. Recover as much as possible.” Shang Xia sighed.

After he spoke, he left them to find a cabin that wasn’t as damaged to continue restoring his expended inner qi.

He didn’t have to say anything for the rest on board to understand a True Immortal was able to travel through the chaotic streams if they wanted to, much less a high-level True Immortal as powerful as Shang Xia.

They couldn’t, and they could only rely on the destroyed ship to float about in the chaotic streams. The moment they were unable to find a proper direction, Shang Xia might be too annoyed to keep looking after them. Without his protection, they wouldn’t be able to last much longer.

Shang Xia might not intentionally be eavesdropping on them, but he knew what they were talking about.

He decided to restore his inner qi before caring about anything else.

Deploying a temporary Five Element Spirit Gathering Formation in the cabin, he used 5 top-grade essence crystals that he barely managed to gather that contained the properties of the elements to activate it. 2 of them had been obtained from the Essence Xing World, and that made it clear how difficult it was to activate the formation.

The Myriad Tinted Cloud Talisman Formation was able to prolong the use of the talisman, and with Jing Hui and the others' careful protection, they would be able to fly for some time. The ship was slowly getting restored, but they didn’t know how much they would be able to do before the effects of the Talisman Formation ran out.

If Shang Xia could create another Myriad Tinted Cloud Talisman, he would be able to easily continue protecting the ship. However, Shang Xia clearly didn’t intend to do so as he would rather watch them try to save themselves.

Jing Hui and the others also had their sense of pride. They didn’t think that they would be able to live just because they had a powerful Talisman Grandmaster and high-level True Immortal on board. They restored the ship to the best of their abilities and used every means available to them.

Shang Xia was a lot more satisfied with their performance as the days went by.

...

As Shang Xia walked around the ship to check on the process, he suddenly saw Che Qinyue running out of his cabin and yelling with some desperation, “There... There’s someone! There’s a Star Ship out there!”

He hadn’t finished when a figure appeared in front of him and Jing Hui arrived holding a board he was using to repair the ship. “What did you say?! Say it again! Where is the ship?!”

Che Qinyue was shocked, but Shang Xia also arrived. He stood staring into the depths of chaotic space and other than chaos, he failed to find anything. He tried to extend his divine soul as far as he could, but it was twisted by the streams of chaos.

Jing Hui yelled again, and Che Qinyue finally composed himself. His voice entered Shang Xia’s mind. “I have been observing the space around us and everything was supposed to be completely chaotic. However, I noticed a strange regular pulse coming from the distance...”

“Tell us something we can understand!” Jing Hui interrupted him by snapping in annoyance.

Che Qinyue quickly followed up, “When a Star Ship passes through the streams of chaotic space, they will cause certain fluctuations. They might not be strong, but... Ouch!”

Jing Hui shoved him to the side and ran over to Shang Xia standing at the bow. He suppressed his excitement and mumbled, “True Immortal...”

“Protect the ship.” Shang Xia didn’t need him to finish before he knew what he wanted to say. “I’ll head over to take a look!”

After he spoke, he disappeared from the ship.
