Chapter 163: Resurrections

The Shadowrealm, the Shadowrealm, I'm in the Shadowrealm. It's me, the Jiribilator. What does that word mean? Absolute jack shit. I made it up, baybee! So… guess what I'm doing? That's right… I AM RAISING THE DEAD!!! DEATH, WHERE IS YOUR STING?!?!?!

"You seem oddly cheerful about being able to raise the dead, Madeleine." Mel helps my most recent risen to their feet. It's some sort of fish person… it must be yet another one of the harem members. Oceana's partner has too many actual romantic partners… why can't he give one to Oceana?

"Haha! Why wouldn't I be excited?! Necromancy was one of the few things we weren't allowed to practice back in the Maid School!" The shadow clones bring in another corpse, this one being headless. I think it's the detective… man, what a crushing death.

"This isn't technically necromancy, you know." Mel helps the detective up, handing her over to her shadow clone. I clap, signalling for the next corpse to be revived.

"Eh, close enough."

Mel and I have been doing this for roughly the past two hours. Cookie sure killed a lot, now that I think about it. Well, most of the damage she did has been dealt with. Almost every shadow clone is back, and I'm nearly done with the resurrections… there are a few complications, though.

Mammy is still a gold statue. I have no idea how I'm supposed to revert that. Darky is still a crying mess, even after I returned her demon girlfriend to life. Actually, she's an even worse mess now, crying while hugging her girlfriend's waist. They're knee-deep in tears. Lastly, Cookie seemed to have stolen some bodies I definitely recognised. The time-frozen statues of the lemon tree spirit, that demon that kissed me, and Croen. She must've taken them from the Sacre Pla Vault… but I could've sworn there were more.

"Rich and the insane man who wanted to kill you were also frozen."

"Who's Rich again?"

"The half-dragon merchant with the car."

"Oh, him. Are we inviting him to our wedding?"

"No."

I guess that's that. The shadow clones bring in the last body of a loved one, which just so happens to be Mila. Ooh, pierced in the heart with a wooden stake. What a painful way to go. I tap the ground, creating a shadow clone of Strawberry, ordering it to resurrect the dead prodigy. Her body shines with light, the wounds getting removed, her eyes opening once the light disappears. She gets up, looking at me with curious eyes.

"Later." Mel helps Mila to her feet, gesturing her out of the room I'm resurrecting in and into the common room where all the shadow clones and revived folks are having very cute reunions. "You can question her later. Right now, Madeleine and I have things to talk about."

"Ooh, private meetings. How exciting."

"Not now, Madeleine."

"Geez, fine."

Mila walks out, closing the door behind her. I then signal the shadow clones to return, and they dip into the surrounding darkness of the Shadowrealm. As soon as they're gone, Mel looks at me, starting the talks.

"We need to figure out what to do with the remainders."

"Real quick, can I name them out? Just in case I know what we're talking about."

"Do it, although I feel like you've forgotten."

"So Mammy is one of them, right?'

"Yes."

"Then the time-frozen statues are another."

"Mhmm."

"How many more? Two things?"

"Wow, that's right."
"So the third thing would be how we're getting them home, right?"

"Completely wrong. That's a different objective that doesn't need to be addressed right now."

"Oh… then I guess one of the last two is that." I point at a pile of specific corpses. Mila was only the last of the loved ones like I said. This pile of corpses, though, was one of the former Side Characters that Mel used to be part of… well, except Melina. She's supposedly safe in Sacre Pla.

"Yeah, those guys. Do we revive them?"

"Shouldn't you be the one making that decision?"

"You're right." Mel put her hand under her chin, then promptly came up with an answer. "Sure, they're side characters, but they're also people. Revive them, but immediately kick them out of the Shadowrealm."

"Aye aye, captain!" I summon a couple of Strawberry clones, each resurrecting one of the 11 dead side characters. Before they could recuperate and realise where they were, I stomped by foot, making them get swallowed by the shadows, sending them back to Mendass.

"One last thing, Madeleine."

"Hmm… Strawberry?"

"Yeah."

We both look at the former nurse of the Luminescence Academy, who looked as ragged as the first time we met her. Torn-up clothes, unkempt hair, and the emptiest of eyes. Her Sacred Power sacrifices a bit of her soul with each use, which is why Rika told us to only use shadow clones of her.

"Maybe one of the shadow clones can fix her."

"Maybe…" Mel didn't seem convinced. "Well, we can't really mercy kill her, so I guess we'll postpone finding a way to fix her."

Suddenly, a shadow clone entered the room, a bunch of hands floating around her. Two hands approached me with a notebook with writing on it. I skimmed it, learning that I was needed back in Mendass. I nodded at Oceana (I'm pretty sure that's the one), then grabbed Mel, taking us back to Mendass.

As soon as we popped back into the car, I noticed it was stopped, with the car being less empty. Sherry, our driver, was not in the seat. Mel and I looked through the front window to see Sherry, with her mighty and giant axe in hand, dashing towards a giant rock lobster. I think it's the same one we saw back in Trogen. I know because familiar faces are also on top of the rock lobster. A certain catgirl, her princess bride, and for some reason, an elf with a flagpole. Is this the start of Mimi's harem?

I think for the next ten or so chapters, I'll take it easy with what happens, then after that, we go into complete overdrive, full-blown madness, the real Mendass experience. Yes, a giant rock lobster is indeed taking it easy. Why am I telling y'all this? Because I feel like it.
