Sorin figured that was pretty self-explanatory. It lines up with strategy and tactics manuals as well as most video games. All the mages, spell casters, warlocks, shamans etc. always have a powerful mind state requirement. From what the system had to do with his spirit exceeding the parameters after it passed the 10 mark, he was feeling pretty confident in his strong mind stat. Here's hoping he will have everything he needed to become able to do what he needed to in order to get home.
Sorin sat there and looked down knowing what was coming. He had read so many cultivation novels and litrpgs when it comes to toxins and refining the body. It is ALWAYS horribly painful and the worst. It always seems like those jerks have immunity to pain. So unrealistic. Sorin had gone through the military gas chamber, OC spray course, and gotten fingertips cut off once and he just knew what was about to happen was going to be much much worse.
"Well time to get a straw and suck it the hell up...." Sorin mumbled to himself as he initiated the body infusion.
Sorin tried to relax everything as nothing ever had positive results when you were tense even when fighting you always want to relax and roll with the punches. Close to a detonation? Relax your jaw and separate your teeth so they don't break. Like with the others nothing happened at first then it hit. It started deep...bone deep. He heard and felt all his bones condense down and break while filling the space. Tendons and ligaments ripped themselves and the muscles condensed pulling the muscles from the bones then all reconnected. The muscles in his neck and back seared and Sorin let out a silent scream and the white-hot pain ripped through him. His vision pinpointed. He released his bowels forcefully and couldn't breathe. His heart hurt horribly, and it forcefully beat every hammer hurt as blood was slammed through what felt like exploding arteries and veins. Then everything slowly began to recede, and the pain lessened and then soothed.
Able to breathe again, Sorin just laid on the floor in his own filth gasping for breath getting his body under control. After a moment, he heard a chair slide back and footsteps coming toward him.
Laxric looked down at him with a cloth over his face.
"Rise, our job is done here. It is time to get you cleaned up, changed, registered, and brought to receiving."
After speaking Laxric took a wide path around Sorin and opened the door heading out. Sorin went to get up, but his body jumped up. The sensation was going to lift something thought to be extremely heavy and it turns out unbelievably light. Sorin slammed into the table and hit the floor shifting the table into the wall. Once again trying to get up he moved more slowly and was successful in getting up. Taking a step his leg jumped up and he felt like he was walking on the moon the way he was jumping.
He managed to get into the hall where Laxric waited impatiently keeping the cloth to his nose. Laxric continued down the hall and eventually came to a door.
In there is a shower, a change of clothes mainly your uniform. You will wear that at all times unless told otherwise by appropriate authority or in your quarters. Violations of the rules as you will be advised of shortly are met with harsh and often violent repercussions.
Sorin nodded started in to head in to ready to get his disgusting clothes off, when Laxric spoke again.
"Your ring. Take it off before you report. Jewelry is unauthorized."
Sorin frowned and turned to Laxric
"No."
Laxric smirked. "Still being stubborn. I'll humor you a bit more. If you do not take that ring off when you report not only will you lose the ring, but the hand it is on with it then get a collar essentially removing your path. You will be little more than an indentured servant."
Anger...pure anger ripped through Sorin.
"I'm no better than a slave now dumb ass. I got nuked in my world, ended up here and conscripted by a government I don't know nor support when all I want is to go home to my wife and son. Now you want to take my ring away?"
Laxric shrugged then walked off and called back as he did.
"You have been warned. You will head the direction I am going now. Do not turn at all you will eventually get to the stairs. Walk all the way to the top and you will know which way to go. Leave all your belongings in there where you shower. If you really want that ring.... hide it in a pocket or something; nobody cares as long as you are not wearing it."
Sorin still fuming walked into what was nothing but a small shower room with a bench. Fuck these people and the horse they rode in on....
