Sorin had no idea what an infusion meant, so naturally he asked the only other person available.
"Laxric what will happen during infusion?"
Laxric paused his drinking and set his cup down.
"That is where your body, mind, and spirit get up to universal minimum or more. It's going to be....uncomfortable for you. In summary, massive amounts of system aether will flood your system."
Sorin nodded and selected Spirit first and immediately he began to feel full then over full then it felt as if his skin was stretching painfully but as he looked down he saw no outward signs but the stretching continued and became painful. Spikes of stretching pains shot through his body as he began to feel like raw hide stretched over a drum. Then just when he felt like he was about to break, everything stopped.
He gasped and realized that not only had he stopped breathing but had closed his eyes. As he opened them everything was the same but somehow different. Everything was sharper somehow almost like looking through freshly cleaned glass after having it dirty for a while. Everything seemed more clear. Sorin stood up slowly and began stretching hoping to relieve the discomfort, but even after stretching the feeling just would not subside. At the upper right hand of his vision he saw a blinking bubble. He focused on it and the screen popped up.
Congratulations!

Sorin sat there and looked at the screen for a few minutes just absorbing. He had so many questions. He looked up at Laxric who was now reading a book completely unconcerned with the life altering events happening to Sorin.
"Laxric, what does AP stand for?"
Laxric set the book on the table pages down and looked at Sorin.
"Aether Points. Yes, ask the follow up questions that are no doubt coming."
Sorin becoming irritated hating the tone the dude was taking.
"Are you paid to be here or forced to be here or what is your deal?" Sorin snapped.
Raising an eyebrow Laxric let out a breath.
"I am forced to be here by order of the academy as part of my graduation requirement. You have annoyed me as all of those who come from other universes for the most part because you always think whatever you know is going to work here in this universe and it NEVER does. How many integratees do you think have tried to fight me in the 2 lunar cycles I've done this? Too many. Then you do it too so now I have to answer your questions as you slowly remove your head from your ass in your new reality."
Sorin nodded along and puffed out his cheeks in surprise.
"Didn't expect an honest answer if I'm also to be honest. However, I do have more questions. Do you know what the conversion rate is? AP to say I don't know a joule where I'm from or horsepower?"
Laxric pulled the pad closer to himself and swiped a few times and scrolled for a line.
"An aether point is equal to.... huh....1 horsepower or 746 joules. If you go off your horsepower, it's an easy conversion for you. I don't know what type of military training you have but do not volunteer information about yourself. The Empire is a warrior society. Information such as strength and capacity are very nice things to have on an opponent. Unless you are making a point of showing you have literally nothing to fear from someone."
Sorin tilted his head back and forth in a "makes sense" gesture.
"Operational security....."
Laxric squinted a bit.
"What's that?"
"It's a way in the military where I am from, we politely tell people to keep their mouths shut with need-to-know information." Sorin said as he looked back to his HUD.
"What is the rating about?" Sorin asked his next question.
"Every single point in your rating is your standard humanoid. So, if you rating is 1 out of 10 then you are the equivalent of the average human from your home world without any aether infusion. Once you achieve 10 in the first tier you will pass that tier and move to the next tier. Each tier will multiply the capacity and quality of aether in you. The higher your tier, the more powerful you become. For example, at my tier of 4 you can't even scratch me with your measly 1 and I can't hardly scratch someone at tier 5 and so one. Someone at tier 5 could slap you and splatter you across the wall."
Gathering his courage, he selected mind not looking forward to the body infusion.
As with the spirit, nothing happened at first and then it was like someone unplugged his senses. All five went down and he began to panic. Couldn't feel, hear, see, taste, and smell anything then his feeling came back, and his head felt like it was about to split open. His sense of smell was more precise and could identify different things quicker such as his own unique scent.
It wasn't an unpleasant smell, and it reminded him of a cross between his dad and his son. Then taste came back, and he could taste the copper and he felt the pain in his mouth too as he realized he bit his tongue a bit. Then hearing and sight came back together. He began processing information what seemed so much faster. Connections and strategic thinking. He took in everything faster and noticed things much quicker.
Laxric was watching and threw a spoon his way. It looked as though the spoon was thrown in slower motion than usual. Sorin causally reached up and didn't catch it per say, but just grabbed it mid-flight. "What a strange sensation." Sorin thought to himself as he chuckled through the raging headache.
Once again, the blue light was blinking in the corner of his vision and Sorin focused on it.
