"Interesting"

Felix stared at his dismembered arm, which was currently wiggling on the floor, causing the blood to ooze out violently everywhere.

He then looked at Viel, who was currently staring at him, his eyes even more colder than his.

"Truly interesting", said Felix with a slight chuckle.

It took a while before the events that just transpired here register to Emi's mind. He finally noticed that Felix was looking behind her. So, she quickly took a glance.

And there, Silbern was still alive, crouching on the ground and trying to call for his mommy.

Infront of him, was Viel, who was just standing there with his arm stretched.

But this was the first time that Emi was seeing Viel with this kind of expression, he had the same gaze as Felix. But the coldness inside of him was further amplified by the color of his eyes, or the lack thereof.

Emi could not help but gulp, he imagined that if Viel was looking at him like that, fear would cloud over her. She has already been feeling it, or perhaps she may have been slacking too much for the past years…

But Viel truly was at another level. Emi quickly shook her head, this was not the time to be comparing themselves.

She placed her full attention on Felix again, and to her surprise, he had a full set of arms again.

Was she just imagining things? But this was quickly disproved as soon as she saw another arm that was still on the floor.

What!? Did he cast a healing spell? But how strong would that be!? Emi's minds were in shambles.

"Felix… who are you?", asked Emi.

It was then that a menacing laugh reverberated in the cave.

"It truly is quite sad", said Felix after he let out the most menacing laugh, "The inhabitants of this world has forgotten us. No matter, they shall soon remember"

Felix started to walk slowly towards Emi, "Because we will rise again. It is just too bad you won't be here to see it, Miss Emilia! KAKAKA!"

As soon as Felix stopped laughing, he rushed towards Emi at a blinding speed. But although Felix was fast, Emi could still see where he was going.

Emi quickly jumped back, avoiding the squealing fingers that threatened to open up her stomach. But even then, Emi felt a slight tinge of pain as her skin was grazed by Felix's nails. Too fast! She hollered as she quickly threw her knives towards Felix.

Felix did not even try to avoid as the two knives pierced through his flesh. Instead, he just continued his attack. Emi was still in the air, making it possible for her to dodge Felix's hand as it grabbed her neck.

"Well, well, well", said Felix as he suspended Emi in the air, "Miss Emilia has truly grown up, maybe I will let you live just yet", he said before he slammed Emi on the ground.

"Ugh!", Emi coughed up blood as her body felt the cave's cold hard and uneven surface smash her back.

"Now stay there, I quite like you, you know. I am sure that Karl likes you too", Felix said as he turned his back away from Emi, "So, stay alive so I can rip you in half in front of him. KAKAKAKA!"

Felix then looked at his finger, and proceeded to lick Emi's blood from it. His whole head shook as he gulped.

"Aah, it has been a while since I have tasted the bloo-"

But before he could finish his words of satisfaction, he felt himself fall as his legs gave out. He completely lost balance as Emi, who was lying on the ground, cut her tendons with another set of her knives.

"Oh", Felix muttered as he raised his eyebrows.

Emi then swiftly stood up, and from behind, she slid the two daggers on her hand around Felix's neck. It caused his blood to gush like a waterfall.

"Damn it, old man Felix… what…", even after Emi watched as Felix slowly dropped to the ground, she still could not fully believe what was happening.

The old man Felix that was always on her side whenever Karl's parents tried to shoo her away? The old man Felix that always helped sneak Karl out of the castle so that the two of them can play adventurer?

Emi felt a thorn on her heart as she saw Felix's eyes slowly losing life. "Damn it, old man…", she voiced out again.

Emi then looked at the fearful looks of the specialists, who were currently shaking on their boots. Emi released a sorrowful sigh.

"Let's leave this place for now", Emi said, "We can't work with a dead body just sitting here"

The scared specialists instantly nodded. The only thing they really wanted to do right now was leave this dark place.

So, without even collecting some of their tools, the specialists started to run back to the lift, all while trying to carefully avoid the dead body on the ground.

Silbern was following them, but he stopped when he noticed that Viel did not come with them.

"Mr. Voice? Let's go!", Silbern shouted as he beckoned for Viel.

"Oi! Mr. Voice, what are you doing? The specialists are waiting for you!", Emi shouted.

"You people go on ahead, I am alright here", Viel said as he smiled for the first time to Emi.

Emi was bewildered at first but, "We'll come back here later, let's have Karl's people clean this mess up first. Ugh, how am I even going to explain this to Karl", she said.

Hearing this, Viel could only scratch his head. He then picked up a small rock and casually threw it at Felix's corpse.

"What… are you doing?"

But it was then that a familiar laugh once again covered the cave. One of the specialists was about to activate the lift, but another one stopped him.

"This…", Emi backed away as she saw Felix's corpse twitch.

She then looked at Silbern, who had still not gotten on the lift. "Silbern, go with the weirdos. We'll try to hold Felix off"

"But-"

"Go! You'll only get in the way!"

Silbern hesitated at first, but still nodded as he ran towards the lift. He also turned his head towards Viel, who gave him a thumbs up.

"Are you ready Mr. Voice?", said Emi as she once again unsheathed two of her daggers.

"No", replied Viel.

"W…what?", Emi muttered.

"You should go with them"

"What are you even saying!?"

"You should go with them", once again Viel repeated.

"But-", before Emi can even talk, she felt an immense pressure cover her entire body as Viel's eyes looked straight at her's, his gaze consuming her entire body.

"You will only get in my way"

As soon as Viel said that, he disappeared from his spot and appeared on top of Felix, slamming Felix's head on the ground.

The whole cavern shook as a crater formed on the ground.

Seeing this, Emi could only click her tongue in frustration, "Fine. Just stay alive, I still haven't gotten my commission for recruiting you", Emi said as she ran towards the lift. Carrying Silbern, who still hasn't reached the lift in the process.

"You hear that, old man? Stay alive", Viel said as his hand was pressing Felix's head to the ground.

"Kakaka! Humans, always too arrogant for their own good", Felix said as he lifted himself up with force, causing Viel to tumble in the air.

Viel floated in the air for a few seconds before gracefully landing on the ground. He then quickly took a glance at Felix.

Felix's eyes were now covered in red. His wrinkly old skin turned pale, almost enough that one can see his veins. His hair, all the way to his mustache, started to fall and bounce off as they slid through his uneven skin.

Seeing this, Viel could not help but shiver as his eyes widened. He quickly took a chunk of rock from the ground.

"Boy, you are worthy to know who I am…what I am. I am a race far superior from you humans, far superior than elves. We are the ones hiding in the shadows"

"While your kind was busy in your petty little war, we were gaining strength. Do you want to know who I am, boy!?", Felix continued.

"I am… a demon!"

The rock that was on Viel's hand fell to the ground. He was about to throw it towards Felix, but when he heard his speech, he could not help but be shocked.

Seeing Viel's fearful expression, Felix laughed. "You have every right to fear me, boy. I am one of the generals of the-"

Before Felix can start his speech again, a menacing laugh spread all over the caves.

This laugh gave Felix an ominous feeling, making his whole body uncomfortable that he almost backed away.

"Demon…you?", as soon as the laughter stopped, a cold voice replaced it.

"The demon inside me…

…seem to disagree with how ugly you are"

"…"

"I do, too"

"…What?"
