V2Ch-15- Breaking Raina’s Mind
Focusing my mind, I will my Qi to reverse all the changes that were made and pull out slowly to prevent any damage.
The Qi took a while to respond but eventually followed my command and started to retreat from its position.
By the time it finally pulled away from her spinal cord, I saw a flash of light and felt Yuki's body go limp.
My Qi was then violently ripped out as it was connected to my hand when Yukis started falling towards the ground.
The Qi structure I had made was now exposed to the world and was quickly disappearing.
Letting it dissipate completely, I lunge to the side so I can catch her and prevent her from hitting the ground.
Catching her, I lifted her up in the same princess carry as I used to carry that boy from back then.
Turning around to walk back to the house, I come face to face with all the gardeners staring at Yuki in my arms.
The way they looked at her reminded me of when I did the test that the sect wanted and all the elders staring at me.
Giving a huff in annoyance, I ignore them and start walking forward.
Passing by them, I overhear a few of them talking to each other, saying, "Was that what I think it was?"
"It must be some illusion technique."
"You're right. There's no way it could have been that."
Realizing that I probably did something crazy again, I sped up and tried to get to the house as quickly as possible.
By the time I got to the wall of the courtyard, I felt like there was a pack of hungry wolves staring directly at me.
Entering the courtyard, I closed the door with my tail and walked over to the house.
Entering the house I did the same thing with my tail and walked down one of the halls where the spare rooms were placed.
Going into the room at the end of the hall, I see that it looks like it has not been lived in, with only a small amount of stuff placed around the room.
The entire room was spotless, with everything in its proper place, and the bed was picture-perfect as well.
Placing Yuki on the bed I then slowly walked out of the room and closed the door behind me with my tail once more.
This was becoming a very convenient new use of my tail.
Walking down the hallway, I exited into the main room of the house, which was set up as the living room with a stairway that led to the second floor along the far wall.
Sitting in one of the chairs was Raina, who, at the moment of seeing me walk out of the hallway, motioned for me to sit across from her.
My tail, which was slowly swaying behind me all of a sudden, went ridged, pointing straight out behind me upon seeing this.
That was the same look of when my father wanted to tell me I screwed up massively.
Raina then repeated the motion upon seeing my hesitation, showing me that I had no way out.
Cautiously walking over, I sat down on the chair that Raina motioned to.
Looking at Raina, who was sitting there with her posture completely straight, her legs crossed, her tail on her lap, and her ears pointing straight up while she was watching every movement I made.
I was already starting to feel some figurative pressure emanating from her.
I would not be surprised if she had been some sort of CEO in her past life.
This went on in silence for what felt like hours but was probably only around a few minutes as I tried to sink back into my chair and disappear.
I was eventually spared the silence but not the pressure as she asked, "Do you know what that golden light means?"
Not knowing anything about it except for it being related to my technique, I shake my head in response and say, "I only know that it is something that happens when you complete the first stage of Gaia's awakening."
My words caused Raina to look at me like I had grown a second head before asking, "What do you mean? This didn't happen when you completed the first stage."
Raina's words caused me to become confused, so I explained, "It did happen when I finished the stage when cultivating in the room we were staying in at the Xia mansion."
She then seemed to pause and consider my words for a moment before a look of enlightenment crossed her face, and she asked, "So, that was the light that woke me up that day?"
Thinking for a second and trying to remember what happened that morning, I started nodding rapidly in response before Raina spoke again, saying, "Regardless, that golden light signifies a perfect cultivation base that is usually called the blessing of heaven and has not been seen for the last few thousand years. It is even said that the last person to ascend to the primordial level was the last person to invoke this phenomenon. So you should understand the gravity of the spectacle you just caused, right?"
Nodding to show my understanding I then stopped and tilted my head to the side and asked in confusion, "But the golden light does not signify that someone is guaranteed to reach the primordial realm. So why is it something so dangerous?"
Raina shook her head at my question with a smile briefly appearing on her face before saying, "Because of the possibility it could. Also, if the golden light does not mean that you have a guaranteed entry into the primordial realm, then what does it signify?"
Nodding at her answer to my question, I then explained to her the reason as there was no need to hide it because she could just ask Yuki to show her the technique whenever she wanted and the lie would instantly be exposed. "The light is signifying the first change made to the body being completed."
Raina's ears then did the same thing that I do when I get confused, but without her tilting her head and asking me, "And what is the change that gets made to the body?"
Answering for the same reasons as last time, I said, "The change made to the body is supposed to increase a person's Qi-gathering and law comprehension speed. This means that, theoretically, when someone cultivates the technique to completion, their body would become the equivalent of a high-grade spiritual root reinforcing what a cultivator could do."
After I finished explaining, all movements that Raina made completely stopped before she asked if what I said was true.
I nodded while clarifying that the last part of my answer was purely theoretical and had no definitive answers as I had not tested this yet.
Raina then just sat there stunned for a few moments, not even daring to make a move. It was only when I said that the technique could never display its full power without being cultivated with its sister Qi-Gathering technique that she came out of it.
She then asked why it would need to be practiced with its sister technique, so I then explained to her for a third time, "Because not only does the first stage of the Sol's awakening technique cause all of the meridians in the body to go up one level. However, it also causes new collateral meridians to be formed to support those new higher-level meridians. This means that a practitioner of Sol's awakening technique has over ten times the meridians of a normal cultivator of their respective race.
It also uses every type of law and Qi to make them, thus completing the full cycle and making it to where, theoretically, someone without any spiritual root can cultivate like one of those heavenly geniuses as they're usually called."
Raina's ears and tail started twitching after she heard my words, and I could not help but want to laugh a little. However, I held myself back, as doing so would have serious consequences.
When the twitching stopped, Raina shook her head again before changing the subject and asking, "What did you do earlier with that weird Qi construct in your hand, and why did Yuki fall unconscious after she completed the first stage of the technique?"
Having expected this question, I quickly answered, "That Qi construct was something I used to temporarily block the pain signals sent from the nerves to the brain, and when I removed that block, I felt a brief flash of energy in her spinal cord. So she was probably knocked unconscious due to the build-up of pain that she was prevented from feeling."
Raina looked impressed after hearing what I said and asked, "You must have a lot of Qi with good control over it then. By the way, which spell did you use to do that?"
Knowing this question was coming and not having a good answer for it, I started to think of a way to get around it when the words of my father rang through my mind, reminding me that liers can never be trusted, so I said truthfully, "I didn't use a spell. I kind of just did it?"
Raina froze again for a few seconds before shouting at a volume that caused me to go deaf for a minute, asking, "WHAT?!"
