Reborn in the Post-Apocalyptic World: Building Infrastructure

Chapter 75: Departing with the Troop of Women

Li Xueying's face turned purple in an instant, and she couldn't stop coughing repeatedly.

The memory of Su Ling's unwavering expression as she fired the gun left her in a state of panic.

Struggling to find her voice, she stammered, "Su Ling, I... I was just joking with you."

Su Ling cast a disdainful glance at Li Xueying and briskly pushed her aside.

Clutching her neck and coughing a few more times, Li Xueying's complexion gradually regained its color.

In just a few days, Su Ling's gaze had grown even colder than before.

It carried an icy killing intent that silenced Li Xueying, leaving her cowering in a corner.

Su Ling had no desire to share the same air as her, so she opened the car door and stepped out.

Seeing Su Ling, Wang Pian, who was standing nearby, immediately took a few steps back.

Now, she finally understood that Su Ling was different from the rest of them.

How could a woman like her willingly become a man's toy?

Unfortunately, not every woman could be like Su Ling.

In this post-apocalyptic world, survival forced them to rely on others, even if it meant sacrificing their bodies and dignity for a bite of food.

As she recalled the scenes of being tormented by those people, Wang Pian couldn't help but clench her fists.

Summoning her courage, she said, "Sister, may I follow you?"

Su Ling halted, and Wang Pian immediately knelt down.

With teary eyes, she pleaded, "I'm willing to do anything, as long as I can have something to eat."

The other person also knelt down, remaining silent.

Su Ling's gaze swept over both of them, and she asked, "Are you willing to fight zombies?"

Wang Pian hesitated for a moment before replying, "Yes, I'm willing to learn."

The other person nodded in agreement.

Su Ling helped them up. "Alright, then follow me. You can wait for me in that RV over there."

She pointed to a parked vehicle, and the two of them immediately boarded it.

Amid their conversation, Sheng Hongye emerged from inside.

Clearly, he had overheard Su Ling and Wang Pian's exchange and glanced at the RV, saying, "Let's head back."

Su Ling raised an eyebrow. "You mean... everyone should go back to the storage warehouse?"

Li Xueying was, of course, among the people Su Ling mentioned.

Sheng Hongye seemed to misunderstand her and responded with a simple, "Yes, all of them."

Su Ling's gaze turned cold. "Then give me this food, and I'll take them somewhere else."

Taking a step forward, Sheng Hongye's imposing figure loomed over Su Ling.

In a low and urgent voice, he asked, "Why?"

Su Ling casually put her hands in her pockets and said, "Nothing, I just want a change of scenery."

Now that only Li Xueying remained, Sheng Hongye certainly couldn't send her away.

Yet, Su Ling didn't want to stay with her either; leaving was undoubtedly the best choice.

As Su Ling turned to leave, Sheng Hongye held her back.

He looked into her eyes, speaking with determination, "Give me some time, and I will sort this out."

"No need," Su Ling tilted her mouth, smiling faintly. "I just want to give it a try, to see if I can keep them both alive."

Directly blocking Su Ling's path, Sheng Hongye gazed intently at her. "I know you can, so there's no need for you to engage in this pointless experiment."

Seeing the way Sheng Hongye looked at Su Ling, Li Xueying knew she had lost.

In Sheng Hongye's heart, she was merely the responsibility left by her elder brother, and nothing more.

She also wished she could be like Su Ling, boldly telling Sheng Hongye that she wanted to leave alone.

But unlike Su Ling, she lacked the courage to be indifferent to everything. After biting her lips several times, Li Xueying remained silent.

Su Ling had already moved away from Sheng Hongye.

"This is how it's settled. If we can't survive, I'll come back to find you," Su Ling said before getting into the RV.

Now, Wang Pian finally understood that Su Ling intended to take both her and Luo Xiaobing away.

Unable to contain herself, she asked, "Sister, can we... do that?"

Su Ling chuckled softly, "Why not? We're just as capable as men, with a head and two legs. Why should we always rely on them? As long as you listen to me, I guarantee we can survive just fine."

Hearing Su Ling's words, Wang Pian felt an unprecedented sense of empowerment.

Nodding firmly, she said, "Sister, I promise to listen to you."

Luo Xiaobing remained silent, her once vacant eyes now showing a glimmer of brightness.

Su Ling stepped on the accelerator, driving towards the basement with the food they had retrieved from the RV.

The place was small but well-fortified. Even without Sheng Hongye, they could succeed.

So, that location became Su Ling's top choice.

Geng Hao happened to come out and assumed Su Ling had already returned to the base.

However, he noticed Sheng Hongye looking grimly in the direction Su Ling had left and couldn't help but ask, "Brother Sheng, why did Sister Su Ling leave first?"

Sheng Hongye didn't say a word; he simply got into the car.

"Let's go back."

Stepping on the gas pedal, the car emitted a piercing engine noise.

No one knew what was wrong with Sheng Hongye, and no one dared to ask, so they quietly got into the cars.

On the ground, Wang Yuanhang's thigh was still bleeding, and seeing everyone leaving, he couldn't help but shout, "Don't leave me behind, wait for me!"

But all he got in response was the exhaust fumes from the cars.

As night fell, Wang Yuanhang couldn't help feeling afraid, gripping a stick as thick as a child's arm and struggling to stand up.

Looking at the chaotic base, he broke out in cold sweat on his back.

This place was no longer habitable; they had to find another place to rest.

A flash of inspiration came to his mind as he thought of the two bases they had passed by. He immediately endured the pain and limped in that direction.

Meanwhile, Su Ling had already arrived at the base with Wang Pian and Luo Xiaobing. Perhaps due to their hasty departure, the security door was still open.

Inside, it was in a mess, as if Li Xueying and Su Rou were living in a pigsty, even worse than when Guan Yuxin's group had stayed there.

Su Ling hopped off the car and said to the two of them, "Let's clean up first."

Wang Pian and Luo Xiaobing nodded, immediately entering the house to tidy up.

It was evident they were accustomed to this kind of cleaning, as they worked efficiently.

In a matter of minutes, the place looked much better.

At this moment, Wang Yuanhang also hobbled over.

Seeing the RV, he was startled. Did Sheng Hongye's group also come here?

He hid in the shadows for a while before confirming there were only Su Ling and the two other women inside. A strange smile crept across his face.

Su Ling's gun was already out of bullets, and Wang Pian and Luo Xiaobing had long been scared out of their wits.

There was nothing to fear about these three women.

Having made up his mind, he limped to the door and knocked on it with his stick.

Wang Pian was startled, dropping the cloth in her hand.

Su Ling gestured for them to keep quiet and went to the door, asking, "Who's there?"

Wang Yuanhang smirked and said, "It's me, Wang Yuanhang. In times like these, how could you three delicate beauties handle things on your own? Why not form a team? From now on, the four of us can stick together, what do you say?"

Luo Xiaobing's face turned pale, and her hands also started trembling.

Wang Pian wasn't much better, clenching her fingers tightly, looking at Su Ling for help.

Seeing the emotional trauma the two had suffered due to Wang Yuanhang's torment, Su Ling frowned slightly.

The one who caused the trouble should resolve it!

"Don't be afraid, I'm here," she said.

She walked to the door and suddenly pulled it open.

The tremendous force caused Wang Yuanhang to stumble inside.

That man looked just like a scoundrel, sprawled on the ground, crawling on all fours.
