Chapter 64: Grain Reserve Warehouse

"Detonator?"

Su Ling suddenly remembered the loud noise she heard before the fire broke out. At that time, she thought something had collapsed.

Geng Hao then said, "We don't seem to have such things in our base."

Sheng Hongye nodded and said, "It must have been intentional."

Su Ling glanced at him and suddenly thought of two people.

Sheng Hongye seemed to have read her thoughts. "It couldn't be them. They don't have that ability."

Su Ling frowned and asked, "Are there other survivors in Lizhou?"

Sheng Hongye nodded. "Lizhou is so big, it's not impossible to have other survivors."

Geng Hao said indignantly, "If there are survivors, we should unite. Why would they bomb our base?"

"Human hearts are unpredictable. We can't rule out the possibility of extreme people like that father and son zombie. We need to be careful in the future."

The three of them returned to the car, and Geng Hao asked again, "Where should we look for food? Brother Sheng, do you have any ideas?"

Sheng Hongye looked south and said, "China is an agricultural country, and every city will have grain reserve warehouses. Given the current situation, we can only look for the city's reserves."

"Is there any specific sign?" Su Ling asked.

In recent years, the international situation has been tense, and grain reserves have become targets for destruction. Therefore, the reserves in each city are hidden. They will only be opened during major disasters, and only those guarding the grain warehouses know the exact locations.

Sheng Hongye shook his head. "No, we can only rely on luck."

Three days passed since they left the base, and they began to search the streets of Lizhou. In the blink of an eye, two hours had passed, but they hadn't found anything.

Geng Hao couldn't help but feel anxious. "Where is the grain warehouse? Why is it so hard to find?"

As soon as he finished speaking, Sheng Hongye stepped on the brake.

"What's wrong?"

Su Ling was a little nervous.

"There's rice on the ground."

Sheng Hongye got out of the car and indeed saw traces of rice, leading to a chimney-shaped building in front.

From the outside, the upper half of the chimney was already damaged by one-third, revealing the steel structure inside. The lower half was twice as thick as the upper part and appeared to be intact. The traces of rice led to this chimney-shaped building.

"We may have found it. Let's go in and take a look."

Sheng Hongye opened the trunk and took out two shotguns, handing one to Geng Hao.

"Give me one too." Su Ling reached out her hand.

Sheng Hongye raised an eyebrow. "You? Are you sure?"

Su Ling nodded confidently and said, "Yes, I learned hunting from my grandfather."

Sheng Hongye liked her confident appearance. If he hadn't seen Su Ling feeling down before, he wouldn't have placed her beside him.

"Alright, just be careful."

Sheng Hongye picked up a shotgun and tossed it to Su Ling.

Su Ling quickly slung the shotgun over her shoulder and smoothly pulled back the bolt.

With her tall figure and a face that was out of the ordinary, she looked heroic and graceful, displaying an air of superiority.

Sheng Hongye couldn't help but give her a thumbs-up.

"All these were confiscated from the farm. For some reason, Liu Yu didn't take them or didn't have time to take them."

"Has the farm been attacked?" Su Ling asked.

Sheng Hongye casually lifted the shotgun and said while walking, "Yes."

Su Ling responded with an "oh" and didn't say anything further.

The group followed the trail of rice grains and as they moved forward, the scattered rice became more abundant.

Geng Hao chuckled and said, "Looks like someone got here ahead of us."

As they spoke, the three of them arrived at the entrance of the building.

The entrance was a large iron door resembling a security door, and it was already open, revealing a pitch-black interior that gave off an ominous feeling.

Sheng Hongye stepped inside first.

"You two, follow me, and try not to make too much noise."

Geng Hao and Su Ling nodded in agreement, then lightened their steps and followed inside.

Not far away, someone holding binoculars was observing the situation across the way.

After a while, that person smirked and vanished into the shadows.

Inside the building, the three of them stood before an iron door full of bars.

Sheng Hongye extended his foot and kicked the door open, but in the darkness, a figure flashed by, and a fast-moving shadow pounced towards them.

Bang! A loud noise rang out.

Sheng Hongye pulled the trigger.

Illuminated by the light from the surroundings, Su Ling immediately saw what was on the ground—it was a zombie dog.

Before the three could react, several more shadows roared and rushed toward them.

Su Ling aimed at one of them, pulled the trigger fiercely, and a few deafening shots later, several zombie dogs all fell to the ground.

Then, they heard the distinct howls of zombies and the chaotic sound of dragging footsteps.

"There are zombies, retreat for now."

The three quickly stepped back as the zombies burst out through the iron door, surprisingly numbering over twenty.

"Run!"

Sheng Hongye shouted, kicked the door shut, and fired two more shots, blowing off the heads of two zombies.

The loud gunfire quickly attracted a large number of zombies. Seeing the zombies getting closer, Su Ling immediately called out, "Geng Hao, use your ability!"

Geng Hao finally remembered his supernatural ability, and immediately produced an arc of electricity.

The zombies convulsed as if dancing on the ground, but these creatures barely felt any pain. A few seconds later, they were back on their feet, chasing after the group once again.

Geng Hao unleashed two consecutive electric arcs. Taking advantage of the zombies' momentary pause, he dashed towards the car.

After driving a considerable distance, the three of them finally caught their breath.

Geng Hao swallowed a mouthful of saliva and said, "There must be food inside. I saw bags of rice stacked like a mountain."

Sheng Hongye nodded and remarked, "This should be a storage warehouse, but it seems there are not just dozens of zombies inside. If we want to get the food, we'll need to plan carefully."

Suddenly, Su Ling thought of a possibility and suggested, "If we bring Professor Bai, perhaps we can get it without alerting the zombies."

Sheng Hongye's lips curled slightly, and for the first time today, his handsome face showed a hint of a smile.

"Telekinesis, that is indeed a method worth trying. But it might not work today. It's already close to noon, and entering later in the afternoon would be riskier. Let's just find something and go back."

Geng Hao immediately proposed, "Then let's go to the residential area; it should be relatively easier."

As it turned out, his suggestion was a good one.

After rummaging through two ruins, the three of them finally found a bag of rice weighing ten kilograms, some canned fish about to expire, three packs of instant noodles, and a few small bags of pickled vegetables. It felt like a treasure trove.

Finally, they would not have to go hungry tonight.

Back at the supermarket, Chen Yu and Han Qiang were already waiting.

Compared to Sheng Hongye's group returning with full loads, the expressions on Er Lei's team were not so good.

"We looked around a few places, but none are suitable for living. Tonight, we can only make do here."

"Then let's make do for one more night, and tomorrow the three of us will find a place to settle."

Sheng Hongye patted Er Lei's shoulder and walked confidently into the supermarket.

Suddenly, they heard the sound of a car behind them and immediately tightened their grip on the shotguns.

In the blink of an eye, a silver-white RV parked at the entrance of the supermarket.

A person wrapped up like a mummy jumped down from the car.
