Chapter 60: He’s Just a Lunatic
Su Ling's vision blurred, and she found herself brought to the edge of the table by the man.
Teleportation ability! No wonder she hadn't heard his footsteps earlier.
Though Su Ling felt a bit flustered, she maintained a calm expression on her face, like still water in a pond. Having worked in a hospital for many years, she had encountered all sorts of bizarre and urgent situations, and her composure was strong.
Simultaneously, she understood that fear and screaming wouldn't solve the problem. She immediately gestured to Han Qiang, signaling him not to act rashly.
Using a patient-friendly tone, she said gently, "In this situation, it's challenging for you to survive alone, let alone with your son. Would you be willing to cooperate with us? We can provide food and shelter, which would be much better than staying here."
The man snorted. "Can you provide food for my son?"
Su Ling patiently replied, "We can provide ordinary human food."
Two veins popped on the man's forehead. "What do you mean? Is my son not human? Won't you provide him with food?"
His aggressive stance and words irritated Su Ling, and her voice turned slightly colder.
"He has already turned into a zombie. The zombies outside are likely attracted by him. I hope you can see the reality and stop being delusional."
"What did you say?"
The man tightened his grip on Su Ling's neck.
Professor Bai's face changed instantly, and he quickly said, "Don't get agitated. Let's talk things through. Su Ling, please stop talking."
Su Ling knew that Professor Bai meant well, but if they allowed the man to continue, he might end up hurting someone.
And no matter how he tried to raise him, his son could never become human again.
Of course, she wasn't blindly provoking him either. She had an ace up her sleeve – mental control.
The man was completely infuriated by Su Ling's words and snarled at her.
"You don't know anything, damned woman. It's because of people like you, who look down on others, that society has become hierarchical."
He glared fiercely at them, and the bloodshot in his eyes intensified.
"I worked the dirtiest and most tiring jobs in this city, but received no proper treatment and respect. My son was bullied and mocked at school just because I'm a migrant worker."
"Now, we're finally free. No longer do we have to endure those people's contemptuous gazes. But my son was bitten by a zombie. Tell me, is this world fair? From now on, I will make sure my son gets to eat meat, every single meal. And those who look down on him will become his food."
Hearing his hysterical voice, Su Ling couldn't help but feel a chill down her spine.
But she still forced herself to say, "It's indeed unfair. That's why the Earth has broken the original order and started anew..."
The man interrupted her words and despairingly shouted, "It's too late. My son has turned into a zombie. Starting over won't make him human again. Now, I just want him to live, regardless of the cost."
Suddenly, he smiled at them. "Do you know why I let you in? With all of you here, my son's food for next month is assured."
Han Qiang immediately extended his hand. "You better not force me, or nobody will survive."
The man sneered. "If you want this woman dead, try to make a move."
He pulled Su Ling in front of the little zombie, positioning both himself and the little zombie behind her.
"Sister Su Ling." Han Qiang couldn't help but nervously shout.
Su Ling shook her head at him and spoke softly.
"With so many people in the world, no one knows what miracles may happen. Maybe one day, they will develop a cure to rescue those turned into zombies."
The man snorted, saying, "Even if such a cure exists, it won't be for me."
He coldly scanned the group and continued, "After my son finishes eating all of you, I'll let him devour me. Then, we two will be together forever, hahaha."
The man laughed maniacally but suddenly stopped mid-laugh.
Then, the others saw him slowly loosen his grip on his wrist, and Su Ling quickly slipped out from his open arms.
"This man has gone mad. Let's get out of here."
Su Ling shouted as she ran towards the door.
Her words seemed to bring the man back to his senses.
Han Qiang immediately released a burst of flames at him, but the man had already used his teleportation ability. The flames ended up burning the little zombie.
The little zombie cried out, the man had already grabbed Su Ling and upon hearing his son's cries, he rushed over to put out the fire on him.
In a panic, he said, "Xiao Ye, don't be scared. Dad will protect you well this time. I won't let you get hurt."
Everyone stopped in their tracks. In fact, they had no choice but to stop.
The sounds of scratching and clawing were coming from outside the door, indicating that zombies were blocking the exit.
Chen Yu couldn't help but curse, "What do we do now?"
Su Ling glanced at the window sealed with iron sheets and whispered, "There seems to be no sound from that side. Maybe we can go out that way."
As Su Ling spoke, the man had already extinguished the fire on the little zombie.
He teleported next to Han Qiang. "How dare you burn my son."
Seeing him about to shoot his crossbow, Su Ling immediately controlled him.
But she couldn't speak, so she could only signal to Chen Yu to snatch the crossbow from him.
However, Chen Yu didn't understand her gesture and looked at Su Ling with confusion, then at Han Qiang.
Finally, it was Professor Bai who had a sudden stroke of luck and snatched the crossbow.
Seeing the man offering no resistance, Chen Yu punched him in the temple.
The man fell to the ground, and Su Ling's mental control was also broken by the punch.
The man regained control of his body and immediately teleported next to his son.
With a mad expression, he looked at the group and sneered, "You actually have people who can use mental control but so what? There are zombies outside the door, and none of you will leave here alive."
He reached out and unfastened the iron chains, freeing the little zombie, who immediately rushed towards the group.
The man casually took out a white plastic bucket and poured its contents all over the floor.
A pungent gasoline smell filled the air.
He laughed even more maniacally. "You have fire abilities, right? Come on, burn it! Hurry, burn it!"
Crazy, this man had completely gone insane.
The little zombie also lunged at the group.
The house was small, at most about fifty square meters, and with several adults inside, it felt extremely cramped, leaving no place to escape.
Han Qiang didn't dare to use his fire ability again, and as everyone was about to be killed by this man and his son, a loud engine noise suddenly sounded from outside the window. Then, with a loud bang, the front of a white Land Rover crashed in through the window.
