The calm
[Night time]
The sun had set and the commotiom at the capital had settled, with the army having been forced to retreat thanks to the efforts of blue rose and other adventurers who wished to aid the kingdom in its time of need.
Although the current king was not happy about that fact, after all it meant his sister still lived and she was a threat to him and his rule and partly because he wanted to set an example, that defiance meant death and he cannot do that when his army fails to deliver on that promise.
"What's taking you so long?!! It's just a bunch of adventurer peasants standing in the way!!"
Babro shouted as he grabbed the nearest object and threw it at a wall causing it to shatter upon impact.
Currently they were in the king's work related chambers and Barbro was seated behind a desk and before him was a bunch of nobles standing there stoically.
"My king, calm yourself even if they are peasants they're still adventures and we don't need to waste resources before the real battle"
Bulloupe advised and received nods from the nobles present. Although he does have to give the princess some credit, he didn't think she could get a decent resistance in such a small time frame, it hasn't even been a full day yet, not to mention that the peasants will probably join in should the former royal army be delayed in its arrival back.ll
having heaed the Marquis' words Babro reigned in his anger, heaved a sigh and spoke.
"What you say makes sense, Marquis. This is just a minor inconvenience, once I eliminate my father everything should fall into Place"
He said and began to relax on his chair, Killing the king should legitimise his seat on the throne by birth right, he was meant to rule so the throne belonged to him but he can focus on killing his siblings afterwards.
"Indeed my king, everything will go as you want it, I will personally ensure it"
The king hummed in agreement with the Marquis before dismissing everyone in the room, leaving him by his lonesome.
Having exited the room Bulloupe gave the other nobles a nod, a signal telling them that he has everything under control, the only problem would be Count Lytton, who's position as one of the six great nobles is necessary but the man himself was against Babro as king.
No doubt Urovana and Pespea will share that sentiment but Blumrush will support Babro, this left Raeven as the unknown although Bulloupe suspects he'll be against it but with some convincing things should be fine, after he is quite the opportunist.
'Hopefully, that thing is out of the picture'
He thought to himself as he and the other nobles parted ways. The marquis hopes that Fluder Paradyne has kept his promise, otherwise Arthur won't be lenient. This marks the second time they sent someone after him and luckily for them Arthur has not been informed that there are people who tried to have him killed.
The Marquis' body shivered at the thought of being face to face with Arthur's ire once again, chills ran through him as he vividly recalled the first time, there was no doubt he was dead should Arthur survive his encounter with Fluder Paradyne.
'Its fine, Fluder is among the strongest mages in this world, with sixth tier level magic at his back and call.'
He assured himself, doing his best to not panic over the idea of Fluder failing
...
Meanwhile the Re-estize kingdom was going through a possible civil war, news of Arthur's power was spreading throughout the continent, many spectators from varying nations had keen interest on the yearly wars between the empire and the kingdom as such there were many sides that had seen what Arthur had done to the Baharuth army.
Currently within a dimly lit hallway of the slane theocracy's main cathedral, there was a young woman leaning against the wall, her hair was black and white respectively on each side. She was short and slim and held an incredible ethereal beauty.
In her hands was a Rubix cube that only had one side complete much to the young woman's displeasure, a trial from the six great God was always challenging yet this puzzle was impossible and it seemed like a practice in futility.
Steps echoed through the hallway as another individual walked in, a pleasure to hear as it distracted her from the frustrating puzzle, turning her head upwards, she looked at the man, the captain of the slane theocracy's black scripture.
"you're back already?"
She asked, her voice sounding a bit bored and uninterested.
"we were called back but we were already returning since we found no signs of what we were looking for"
"oh? Here I thought I might actually get to see some action"
"You speak as if we couldn't handle a dragon lord without you"
The captain responded and the extra seat of the black scripture merely gave him a deadpan stare to which he sighed, her confidence in her strength was justified but he wished that she had more faith in the team.
"do you have any idea why we were called back? All I was told was that it was an emergency"
He asked, the task that the scripture had been assigned was going to the resurrection location of the catastrophe dragon lord and quickly dispatch said dragon lord before it could regain its power after resurrecting but unfortunately when they arrived at the given place there was no dragon and it seemed they were a bit early as they saw no signs of it having resurrected.
"beats me, however before the meeting was called I did over hear Astrologer screaming about something eradicating an army, she reported to the cardinals and that's why I'm here"
"is that why you're standing here, eavesdropping?"
"I can hardly hear anything from here, any closer and the cardinals will know someone's listening in on the them"
She clarified with shrug of her shoulders, she didn't really need to hear what was being talked about as she was certain they would debrief everyone on the matter but having overheard Astrologer, she couldn't help but be curious, after all the possibility of someone stronger than her existing was never impossible.
"so what do you think this something that destroyed an army is?"
He asked and she simply shrugged her shoulders.
"doesn't matter what it is, if it's a living being then my objective would be clear"
She said as she rubbed her stomach affectionately, it was a simple equation, really. The strong coupling with strong equals stronger children, she truly believed that's what she needed to defeat her bastard of a father and she was willing to go to any lengths for that.
Hearing her words the captain could only shake his head and sigh, she was certainly an amusing individual, although she can't blame her for wanting revenge against the Elf king.
"I see, then I suppose we'll have to wait for the cardinals to tell us, let me have a try at that"
"Humph! Good luck, this thing's impossible"
She said and tossed him the Rubix cube.
"I think that's the point of the trial, to grapple with the impossible and try our best to conquer it even if it seems futile to do so"
He explained as he began to work on the cube and the Extra seat, couldn't help but think about what he just said before speaking.
"the six sure are wise"
....
[Baharuth Empire]
Arthur looked at the ceiling of the unfamiliar bed chamber, it was night time and he was supposed to be asleep, however he couldn't sleep as he had something to think about or rather he was trying to figure something out.
The lights were still on so he could see clearly in the room as such, He turned his head towards his blade, Excalibur and stretched out his hand, a golden hue outlined his hand as he pulled the blade into his hand similar to telekinesis.
"Ruler's authority"
He uttered to himself, back when he destroyed the Baharuth army he felt like could do something but didn't have the time to properly try it.
"A new skill, but how?"
He questioned, at first he thought his past self had been dumb by wishing for, well not useless but somewhat underpowered skills however it became obvious to him that wasn't the case, he noticed this when he suddenly gained [Blut vene] in his fight against Zero.
"Do I need to awaken them based on my desires or do they just awaken randomly?"
He asked, if this was a result of a wish that his past self had wanted, then that either meant he awakened random powers at random times or the power awakened based on his desire or needs.
He was inclined to believe the latter, after all during his fight with Zero, he needed a defense and awakened blut vene, and now he has resolved himself to become a king and thus awakened Ruler's authority.
"Holy shit! If that's the case, that mothefucker was a genuis then"
He shouted as he suddenly sat up at realisation, after all if he awakened power or skills based on his needs and desires then there's a lot of potential there, although he wondered if in order to awaken a power he has to be in a life or death situation or can he awakened a power by simply wanting it bad enough.
If it's the latter then he can't practically awaken any power he wants, even if it's the former it's still useful as fuck, a new found excitement filled his heart as a smile was plastered on his face.
"guess we'll have to find out."
He said before getting off the bed, he needs to test things out and get a handle on how these powers actually manifest.
"although even if they do manifest through my desire, they might not manifest simply because I want them, maybe the desire needs to be something I actually need"
He said to himself as he began to think thoroughly, it seemed that he might not sleep today due to this.
