As the number of vacancies at the academy dwindled, I began to worry if Mia would be accepted, so when her name was finally called, my heart sank. She is the only light in my dark life. I will destroy anyone who tries to hurt her.
Mia joins us and the three of us express our joy. She is also happy about it, but soon her joy fades.
Sarah hasn't been chosen yet and I don't think she will. It is too risky to take in a one-eyed orphan without any experience.
As I predicted, Sára was not accepted.

“I don't know Mia. If she was from an influential or noble family she would probably return home, but commoners and orphans like her? They will probably be quietly removed. At my words, Artur clenches his fists until they bleed and his face contorts in self-accusation. As for Ezra, he blames everyone else for it.
When the rejected were given a chance to become part of the church, I was surprised. In the end, Sára was the only chosen bishop, I don't know if it's better or worse for her than being accepted at the academy, but I breathed a sigh of relief, I'm sure it will be better than before.
After the departure of the Bishop, those who were not accepted were taken out of the courtyard and I do not know what happened to them next. The rest of us were divided into six classes based largely on our social status. There were only twenty students in classes A and B but the other four namely C, D, E, F had thirty students each. All four of us became part of Class F.
Soon the division of pupils into classes was finished and the academy attendants took us to the dormitories. Each of us was assigned our own room. Of course, the level of the room was determined by one's status, but I was grateful for even the most basic.
All four of us had rooms on the second floor. In the first, there are various common facilities, such as a dining room or private lounges.
I entered my room. It is a small room with a window, a bed, a table, a chair, a shelf and a wardrobe with several sets of academic uniform. In addition, there is also a door leading to the toilet. There I find a toilet, a bucket, towels and a magical item capable of generating water. I guess most people won't know how it works. This device was not in the toilets we used for the last few days, they were probably toilets for employees unable to use magic.
I place the bucket under the device and, similar to the test, try to sense my mana and move it into a magical object instead of a stone. After a while I succeed and soon the bucket is filled with water. After that, I wash up and change into my academy uniform. It doesn't fit me perfectly, but it's many times more comfortable than the clothes I've been wearing so far.
There are several parchments lying on the table. I will take them and look at their contents. The first is a map of the entire school campus. The second is a map of the academy building, although even with that it will be difficult to find the right place. And finally, the third is the schedule. School rules are written on the others. It really surprises me how much work they put into it, then how often the nobles neglect the commoners.
I'll put the rules aside first before I start studying the academy blueprints. The academy is divided into two parts, the inner and the outer, which surrounds it. The exterior is then divided into twelve separate sections, with various facilities such as the school's battle arena, training facilities or an extreme environment, which I'm not too sure what it is, to be found there.
The courtyard is located in the center of the interior. It is surrounded by the academy building on three sides, south, east and west. Dormitories are located in the east wing. In the western part there are mainly laboratories and indoor training areas. As for study spaces such as classrooms or lecture rooms, they are in the south building.
I put the maps down and leave the room. I will go to one of the common rooms, where there is a bulletin board with the school's notice. I try not to stand out too much. I avoid contact with others and listen to their conversations instead. I will wait for the others to leave and look for the necessary information. Then I go to the dining room.
The dining room is divided into two parts. Ordinary and Luxury. While you pay for the luxury, you can eat for free in the ordinary. It is clear in which part I will eat. I look around for a table. I walk over to the outer one for four and sit down.
There aren't many people in the dining room, but even so, no one pays me too much attention, except for a few nobles in the luxury section, who look at me with disgusted looks. Their gaze on me didn't last long and they plunged back into the conversation.
Not long after, Artur enters the dining room. I wave at him. He notices me and sits down. He is still very bitter and sad. He still couldn't get over Luke's loss. I try to smile at him, but it never works. He understands my attempt and cheers him up and smiles, but I still feel sadness in his smile.
We fall into silence. I look towards the entrance to the dining room and see Mia coming. Artur notices her too and waves to her before I can. She sits down with us and I give her a warm smile. I can only smile at her from the bottom of my heart. Although I'm always a bit nervous around her.
We haven't really spoken since Luke died and I'm sure they still haven't come to terms with it. Luke was the oldest of us and made everyone feel safe. Without him, it will be a much tougher fight for them.
In addition, Sara's departure must have affected them as well. Although I believe she can handle anything, after seeing how much Luke's death affected her, I can't stop worrying about her, and I'm sure others worry a lot more.
