Now That I Have Become a Woman, I Am a Vtuber

Chapter 98

“Whew.”

As I opened the door, the steam that had been trapped in the bathroom billowed out in puffs.

“How are you? Feeling okay?”

“Yeah, I feel refreshed!”

After showering and putting on some of Tenshi’s larger clothes, I felt a bit better.

How long had I been feeling uncomfortable?

“More importantly, it doesn’t look like the rain is going to stop any time soon.”

“Right?”

We stared blankly at the rain pouring outside.

I managed to make it to Tenshi’s House, but it seemed unrealistic to accomplish anything else today.

And thinking back to earlier… ugh, my face felt hot just remembering.

What does it even mean to fall over there?

Thanks to that, all my clothes got dirty, forcing me to rush to Tenshi’s House.

As I awkwardly touched my flushed cheeks from earlier, Tenshi smiled and said,

“It’s okay! That was cute!”

“…Just forget about it.”

I heard her laugh earlier, so I don’t believe her now.

Ugh, next time it rains, I’ll just wait it out quietly.

“By the way, since we’re here, should we order delivery or something?”

It feels a bit strange to suggest something in someone else’s house first, but I thought Tenshi would prefer ordering food in this weather rather than going out.

“Sure! Sounds good!”

Fortunately, Tenshi agreed right away. She even looked a little happy about it.

“Rest on the sofa, Soo-hyun! I’ll take care of the order.”

Maybe Tenshi prefers hanging out at home rather than going out too.

After all, being a VTuber is proof that she likes staying in more than going out.

I picked up the TV remote that was in front of the sofa and watched as Tenshi took out her phone to look at delivery apps.

“Shall we watch something while we eat?”

It would be boring just to eat, right? With the TV being big, it seemed perfect to watch a movie or something.

“Sounds good! Let me pick something!”

Choose something, huh… what should I pick?

While pondering a little, I entered the OTT site connected to the TV using the remote.

Thinking about it, I’ve heard that even the same site slightly differs by country, so I wondered what it would be like in Japan.

With a little excitement, I logged in, but strangely enough, the connected site was in Korean.

“Uh, this is the Korean version?”

“Oh, I watch the Korean version! It helps me study.”

Wow, just how genuine is she about being Korean…

Even without being a VTuber, running a nationalistic YouTube channel could probably support her family for generations!

This makes it easy to decide what to watch.

No matter how decent her Korean is, Tenshi has lived in Japan her whole life.

Watching foreign movies without subtitles would still make it hard to enjoy fully.

What common ground could we find where we could both comfortably eat takeout?

“How about this?”

What I picked was a Japanese romance movie.

Since it had Korean subtitles, both of us could enjoy it easily, making it a choice that would deliver a solid slap to Solomon’s face.

“Oh! Sounds good!”

Fortunately, Tenshi seemed to like the choice and quickly started the movie.

The delivery food would arrive in the middle of watching, I figured.

As the movie started, Tenshi ordered the delivery food after some deliberation.

By the time the food arrived midway through the movie, we were eating, deciding on songs for the year-end live, and chatting about various things, and before I knew it, it was time for me to head back.

Hmm… should I go back now? Or should I just stay and sleep?

With the rain still coming down, I felt increasingly lazy about heading back. Plus, I needed to grab the clothes that had just been washed and dried in Tenshi’s washing machine.

My parents usually complain, but they’re a good couple, so maybe it’s better that I’m not home.

“Tenshi…”

“Huh?”

“Can I sleep over today?”

“Eh—Eh? Sure!”

I needed the host’s permission first, so I asked, and she eagerly nodded.

Nice, since I got the okay, I texted Mrs. Jang that I’d be sleeping at a friend’s house, and soon after, she replied that she understood.

I had prepared to explain the situation, but being allowed so easily was a bit surprising. Aren’t they worried?

Anyway, since I received a confirmation, I guess I can sleep over.

Fortunately, Tenshi’s House was way better than the one-room apartment I lived in, so there’d definitely be enough space for me to rest.

I could lay down a blanket on the floor or sleep together on the big bed in the main room.

After that, I had plenty of time to spare since I was set on sleeping over. As we both lazily spent time, the rain pouring outside gradually ceased.

…It had been pouring like it wouldn’t stop, but just as absurdly, it cleared up quickly, and at that moment, Tenshi suddenly made a suggestion.

“Soo-hyun! The rain stopped, and since you’re staying over anyway, how about having some drinks?”

“Drinks?”

“Yeah! There’s a nice izakaya around here!”

Oh… a local recommended izakaya… I’m not much of a drinker, but something about that sounds really tempting.

“Sure! Let’s go right away.”

So I borrowed an extra outer coat from Tenshi and headed outside.

The streets of Japan at night were completely different from the morning, and in this quiet residential area with hardly any tourists, there were very few people around.

Hmm, this atmosphere is quite nice.

Maybe it’s because the houses are pretty? Walking down these roads gives off a sense of romance.

Perhaps it’s also reminiscent of many scenes from anime that are embedded in my memory.

Anyway, just as Tenshi said, we soon arrived at the izakaya that was really nearby.

It seemed to be somewhat popular; inside the shop, there were a lot of people, but fortunately, we found a few empty seats, so we didn’t have to wait.

“I’ll order some karaage and my favorite sake!”

“Sounds good.”

Since I was a novice, I let Tenshi take charge of the orders.

As we ordered and chatted about various topics, a cheerful-looking owner soon brought our food out, and it looked delicious.

It hadn’t been forever since we had delivery, but seeing the crispy karaage and sake made my mouth water.

“Cheers!”

“Cheers!”

After we toasted with our filled drinking glasses and gulped down the sake, biting into the crispy karaage brought a satisfying thought that I was glad to be traveling.

Is this why one should make friends with locals?

Eating in a local restaurant like this made me feel almost like a Japanese person.

Should I maybe try learning Japanese? Just so I could order correctly when I come here alone later?

With that thought in mind, I resolved to learn Japanese properly, and as I kept sipping on the sake while toasting with Tenshi, I felt the effects of the alcohol kicking in.

But had I gone a little too fast? Tenshi, who had been chattering earlier, now started dozing off.

Although I considered waking her up to head home, since our place was close and we were already out, I thought I’d enjoy my sake solo while Tenshi rested.

“Ah, um—”

Suddenly, three guys in the back spoke to us, though I hadn’t even noticed when they arrived.

One of them, who looked like the leader, was talking, while the other two stood behind him a bit awkwardly, and I immediately had a bad feeling.

Seriously? Having to deal with unwanted attention here too on the first day of my trip?

Is this really happening with Japanese guys this time?

I can’t believe I’m getting approached in a local restaurant by locals!

Well, since I didn’t even know Japanese, I planned to just reject them with gestures as I was about to, but then I overheard their whispers.

“…Hey, do you think she can even speak Japanese?”

“I don’t know, I heard she can speak a little.”

What was that? They’re Korean?

Ugh, those jerks.

Did they really have to make it awkward for everyone at a local restaurant in Japan?

I could somewhat understand what they were saying, but maybe it was because the alcohol was getting to me?

I suddenly felt irritated by those guys.

Seriously? After coming all the way to Japan, and you’re still thinking about hunting for women?

“Um- um?”

At that moment, Tenshi, who had been dozing off, snapped back to reality.

Maybe she hadn’t been that drunk after all? Perhaps she had just been tired.

Now that I look, her cheeks aren’t even that red.

“Um…”

Seemingly realizing they were speaking Korean, she glanced briefly at the guys before looking back at me.

Must be that she wanted me to handle it since we were both Korean.

Hmm… what should I do?

With my mind hazy from the effects of the drink, it was hard to think straight.

“Uh, wait… what’s ‘to join’ in Japanese?”

“Hey idiot, I don’t know either, just tell them you’re drinking sake.”

“If you don’t know, just pull up a translator.”

But these guys are right in front of us…

Whatever, let’s just kick them to the curb since we’re abroad!

What should I say to make me feel better?

I took a moment to think while half-listening to the guys’ conversation, and a line that could shut them up sprang to mind.

Well, to be honest, it wasn’t a good line, but it would definitely be effective.

It was something I normally wouldn’t say, but with the alcohol fueling my courage, I blurted out the words that came to mind.

“Damare-! Chosun-jin!”

That shout instantly dropped the tension in the air.

It’s a phrase I probably should never have used, but hey… I’m Korean, right?

It’s like how Black folks casually use ‘nigga’ with each other.

“Uh, uh?”

Hmm.

Well, from their perspective, this might come off differently.

But do I look like I care?

I was too tipsy to even think that far.
