Episode 25 - Variety Show
Seeing Yeon-woo suddenly appear from behind in the troublesome situation, the two of them were taken aback and their expressions turned sour.
“Cosa intendi?” (What are you saying?)
Ah, are these Italians? They must have been the ones who shot the Italian gun today.
Soon after, fluent Italian flowed from Yeon-woo’s mouth again.
When Yeon-woo worked in the overseas department, he spent the second-longest time in Italy, right after the Middle East.
“Gentlemen, these people are my team members. Look for another opportunity.”
Unlike dramas or novels, most issues in tourist destinations can be solved with gentle conversations since incidents involving public safety are rare. However, even if the problem didn’t escalate physically, it would be virtually impossible for ordinary people to deal with Yeon-woo.
Upon hearing Yeon-woo’s polite yet firm words, the men extended their hands in a peaceful gesture, acknowledging the situation and walked away.
“Yeon-woo!”
With a terrified expression, Han So-hyeon and Choi Mi-hyu joined in unison.
Yeon-woo smiled as he looked at them.
Despite being a famous actress, Han So-hyeon was quite easy-going in personality. While Hawaii was relatively well-known as a tourist spot, going out at night was risky behavior regardless of gender.
“Although the area around the hotel is relatively safe, it’s nighttime. What brought you two out without others?”
So-hyeon held up the bag she was carrying.
“Hehe, I was curious about American snacks. But it turns out there are a lot of Japanese snacks.”
Even though it’s less than the mainland U.S. in terms of distance, Hawaii sells a lot of Japanese products due to the high number of Japanese tourists.
“Want to join me on this shopping trip? Or do you want to take a stroll by the beach in front of the hotel?”
“Let’s take a stroll! Even though you’re minors, you’re still guys.”
At Choi’s words, Yeon-woo smiled slightly. In his past life, when Yeon-woo was responsible for security, it was common for him to protect key figures designated as priority targets by terrorists in war zones where explosions were a daily occurrence. However, So-hyeon and Choi Mi-hyu, who were currently receiving first-class personal protection, didn’t seem to realize that. As they walked along the beach in front of the hotel, the two chatted casually about the incident from earlier.
So-hyeon and Choi Mi-hyu continued chattering about the earlier incident as they walked along the beach in front of the hotel.
“By the way, what language was that? How many languages do you speak?”
“It was Italian.”
“You know Italian too? You’re really amazing!”
“Anywar, those were Italian men, right? They seemed quite handsome.”
At Choi Mi-hyu’s words, Yeon-woo felt a bead of sweat forming.
‘Did I distrub on Choi Mi-hyu’s chance? Haha.’
Choi Mi-hyu is in her early 40s, but he’s still single.
“But I was scared.”
“Yeah, I was scared too. So-hyeon.”
And a small remark from writer Choi Mi-hyu.
“But, they were handsome.”
Pretending not to hear, Yeon-woo wiped the sweat off his forehead and looked out at the beach with effort.

Meanwhile, at the same time, Prosecutor Han Hae-woon of the Busan District Prosecutors’ Office is searching for a woman named ‘ Jeong Hye Min ‘ in his memory.
She wasn’t a criminal or a public servant with a record in the database, and it seemed she hadn’t been involved in any job searches.
“Since the person named Team Leader Jeon Su-hwan is a real person, this woman must be real too.”
These days, I haven’t been investigating Jeon Su-hwan and have been looking into other individuals, so I’ve been able to forget about this case without any pressure from above.
“The child in the memory is probably the daughter of a woman named Jeong Hye Min, so I should search in that direction.”
Han Hae-woon thought that it might be faster to search that way rather than relying solely on her face and name.
He gradually narrowed down the scope of the investigation.

After enjoying a dream-like vacation in Hawaii, it’s already been a month since they returned to Korea.
Yeon-woo’s route to school, where there used to be chaos as soon as he got out of his father’s car, has changed. Perhaps everyone has become accustomed to senior celebrities as they no longer swarm around him.
Dring.
During lunchtime, Yeon-woo’s phone rang.
“Hmm? Is it Team leader Jeong?”
He’s usually the one who coordinates shooting and casting schedules at the company.
“A cameo offer? Hello?”
He answered the call, thinking it might be the cameo that Director Kim Han-soo mentioned earlier.
[ Yeon-woo, it’s been a while.]
“Yes, Team Leader. Is everything okay?”
He hadn’t talked to Team Leader Jeong since the end of shooting for ‘Summer Promise’ three months ago.
[I’m always the same. Haha. Yeon-woo, I called because of a casting offer that came in.]
“You mean the cameo offer from Director Kim Han-soo?”
[Hmm? Is there talk of a cameo? I haven’t heard anything about that yet, but it’s for a variety show on JNBC.]
In summary, due to the popularity of ‘Summer Promise’ airing on JNBC, the broadcasting station felt unsatisfied after it ended, so they planned a healing variety show with four lead actors staying in a remote village cottage for four weeks.
Originally, Yeon-woo’s agency was going to decline due to scheduling issues, but since they could adjust to weekend shooting for four weeks, they contacted Yeon-woo to ask for his opinion.
“With those conditions, I think I can participate too. It won’t affect my school attendance either.”
[Really? Then I’ll proceed with that understanding. Mr. Yeon-woo.]
“It’s your first variety show.”
After ending the call, Yeon-woo heard Seong-sik muttering behind him.
“Yeon-woo, going on a variety show?”
“Yeah, it’s for a healing variety show.”
“Wow, going on a variety show! The fan cafe will go crazy.”
Yeongwoo rubbed his chin in response to Seong-sik’s words.
“Hmm, I wonder if I can do well since I’m not an entertaining person.”
“Hey, in variety shows with actors, all you need to do is show your face and be energetic.”
Yeon-woo also nodded as he listened to Seong-sik’s words.
It probably won’t be as hilarious as a slapstick S-comedy. That’s why it’s a healing variety show.
Tittering.

After school, while studying at home, Yeon-woo opened his vibrating phone.
He usually thought it was a notification from the usual chat group, but today it was from a different group.
‘Summer Promise’ Cast Chat (4)
Han So-hyeon: Did everyone agree?
Son Jin-yuk: You mean the variety show? I said yes.
Ahn Jun-ho: Me too.
Han So-hyeon: Not for promotion, but after the drama ends, it’s a different experience to do a variety show, right?
Ahn Jun-ho: It must mean our drama was loved that much, right? Yay!
Son Jin-yuk: Yeon-woo, are you busy studying? Come out, Yeon-woo summoned #RyuYeon-woo
Yeon-woo checked the content and typed with a smile.
Ryu Yeon-woo: I accepted too. My first variety show, feeling excited.
Han So-hyeon: Wow! We’re a complete group!
Ahn Jun-ho: The first shooting is next weekend, right? Wow. We’re starting right away without any break.
Son Jin-yuk: The airing might coincide with the third week of shooting? Variety shows are different from dramas.
After that, several messages were exchanged, but Yeon-woo concentrated on his studies as he thought he should make the most of his time for shooting.
Although his new youthful mind was sharp and quick, it was difficult to relax when dealing with the drastically changed curriculum.
Days passed as he continued to balance studying and exercising, and soon the first day of variety show shooting arrived.
Beginning of Part One.
“Is this recording?”
Yeon-woo turned on the camcorder he received by delivery at the broadcasting station and began self-recording.
“Hello, I’m Ryu Yeon-woo. Nice to meet you.”
Facing the camcorder with still sleepy eyes, he waved his hand.
“Today is the first morning of the ‘Summer’s Table’ shooting. I’ve just woken up myself.”
Yeon-woo opened his suitcase and packed various things.
“I’m packing my stuff.”
He decided to narrate his actions since he felt like he should say something.
After that, he packed his belongings diligently and, holding the camcorder, walked out of the front door.
In the elevator, he looked at the camcorder and spoke to himself.
“Should I have said more? It seems boring.”
Ding
Upon reaching the first floor, Yeon-woo got out of the elevator and headed towards Min-soo’s car that was waiting for him.
“Hello, Min-soo hyung. It’s been a month.”
“Yeah, it has. Have you been well? What’s that camera?”
Smiling, Min-soo pointed at the camera Yeon-woo was holding.
“Ah, would you like to say hi? I don’t know if I’m doing it right. It’s a self-cam.”
When Yeon-woo tried to film Min-soo with the camera, he got startled and stiffened.
“Ah, hello.”
Min-soo shook his hand stiffly like a robot and greeted.
“Let’s stop here and turn it on again later.”
End of Part One.
Soon Min-soo’s car arrived in Gunsan and Yeon-woo check the camera again. He met the waiting production team and Son Jin-yuk.
“Jin-yuk hyung!”
“Yeon-woo is here.”
So-hyeon and Jun-ho had already entered the front boat.
“Are we going to the island?”
Jin-yuk looked at PD Lee Kyung-shik.
Without revealing much, the shooting had begun with only an explanation of the production intent.
While other actors had a pre-meeting, today was Yeon-woo’s first meeting with the team due to his school attendance.
“We’re now entering the island of Gaeyado. It’s a peaceful fishing village with about 300 households.”
“Do we get meals?”
PD smiled and chuckled at Yeon-woo’s question.
“Yeon-woo, what’s the title of our show?”
“Summer’s Table, right?”
He handed Yeon-woo a fish guidebook.
“These are the types of fish caught in Gaeyado. If you win the game against the production team, you’ll have a chance to use the only supermarket on Gaeyado. But for the most part, you’ll have to fend for yourself.”
Looking at the fish guidebook he received, Yeon-woo noticed Jin-yuk’s embarrassed expression.
“I got completely scammed here. Director, you said it’s a healing variety show for us. Now we have to catch fish? So it’s a killing variety show.”
Seeing Son Jin-yuk’s exaggeration, laughter spread among the production staff.
“Yeon-woo, have you gone fishing before?”
Yeon-woo recalled the fishing he had done when he was waiting on a military ship in the waters off Somalia for food supplies during pirate raids.
He had to throw dynamite or fire artillery to catch the fish that floated up due to the shock. Well, he did catch fish, so it’s still fishing, right…?
“Yes, I’ve tried something similar.”
Upon hearing Yeon-woo’s answer, the production staff outside the camera seemed busy editing.
“The boat has arrived. Please board.”
Yeon-woo and the production team boarded the boat that connected Gaeyado and the harbor.
