NIS Agent Reincarnated as a Genius Actor

Episode 24 - Hawaii

“Oh my, what should we do? It’s Actor Son Jin-yuk.”

“The person next to us is him, right? He’s a hot high school student actor these days.”

Whispers from flight attendants could be heard in a small voice up front. Yeon-woo was excitedly taking selfies with the flight attendants who were enthusiastic about the boarding of hot actors these days and took his seat in business class.

Although Yeon-woo had personally piloted private planes, military aircraft, and even reconnaissance planes, this was the first time he received such attention from flight attendants.

As soon as they boarded, So-hyeon took out an eye mask and went to sleep. She laid down while rubbing her nose sleepily, making her enthusiasm seem distant. She woke up briefly when the in-flight meal was served and fell asleep again.

On the other side, Ahn Jun-ho had already ordered and was drinking alcohol several times.

“Jun-ho hyung, you’re getting drunk before we even arrive?”

“Ugh, it feels refreshing. Why do I like alcohol so much? Well, I stayed sober during the shoot, so now I have to let loose.”

Time passed, and the aircraft that Yeon-woo and his group were on extended its landing gear and touched down on the airport runway of Daniel K. Inouye Airport.

Finally waking up and stretching, Yeon-woo laughed when he saw So-hyeon getting up.

“You’re afraid of flying?”

“Tch, I sleep when I’m scared.”

The plane had already connected to the airport, and the passengers, tired from the long flight, eagerly got up, wanting to disembark even a minute earlier.

Yeon-woo and his group exited through the connected gate and stood in line for immigration.

“They won’t ask anything complicated, right?”

Min-soo searched for and scrutinized the notorious U.S. immigration process that he had heard about for the first time, as he had never entered the U.S. before.

“Min-soo hyung, since we’re a group, there probably won’t be many questions. Our Korean passport power is strong.”

Min-soo nodded and proceeded through the line, starting with the staff ahead of them. Just as Yeon-woo had predicted, there were no special questions for them.

“Wow, Yeon-woo, you’re good at English too?”

Standing behind Yeon-woo, Ahn Jun-ho marveled at the conversation he saw between Yeon-woo and the immigration officer, where they exchanged a fair amount of words while smiling.

At that moment, as Yeon-woo finished his immigration, Jin-yuk appeared from behind and answered on Yeon-woo’s behalf, engaging with Jun-ho.

“Are you surprised? He is the top student in my school.”

Seeing this, Yeon-woo couldn’t help but smile.

As the group headed out to the departure hall with their suitcases, they were unexpectedly greeted by a small crowd of locals, some of whom held placards to welcome them. Most of these were fans of Jin-yuk, who had gained some recognition internationally, often identified with the words “Your Name”.

Jin-yuk approached the fans who were chanting his name, taking photos and signing autographs as part of the fan service.

“Thank you very much,” he expressed his gratitude.

Watching this scene, Jun-ho lightly patted Yeon-woo’s shoulder.

“We might also have a day when we shoot works that become popular abroad after a few years of activity, right? It’s fascinating. Seeing even overseas fans recognize you, Jin-yuk hyung.”

“Well, with the current trend of Korean content being popular, who knows? Maybe our next work will explode internationally,” Yeon-woo speculated.

Hearing Yeon-woo’s words, Junho chuckled and said, “Could be, you never know.”

After that, following the guide’s instructions, Yeon-woo and the staff members moved to the hotel to unwind. The next morning, after having breakfast and resting in his room, someone knocked on Yeon-woo’s door. When he opened the door, Jin-yuk and Jun-ho were already prepared and standing there.

“Yeon-woo, we’re going to do the shooting I mentioned before. Do you want to come along?”

Shooting… Yeon-woo didn’t particularly enjoy it as a hobby, but he had nothing else to do, so he agreed.

“Sure. What about So-hyeon noona?”

“She said she’s scared of loud noises. She’s probably playing with the writer Choi at the hotel pool.”

Upon hearing that, Yeon-woo suddenly wanted to lie down on a sunbed by the hotel pool and rest lazily, but he decided to go with the plan they had already made.

“Just a moment, let me change clothes quickly.”

Yeon-woo put on comfortable clothes and applied sunscreen all over his body before coming out.

“Did you apply sunscreen well, hyungs? The Hawaiian sun is intense.”

“Oh, I put it on casually.”

Yeon-woo told Jun-ho to properly apply sunscreen to every part of his body, taking care of his laid-back attitude.

“Don’t you know that not applying it properly can lead to trouble? Hyung, your skin is turning as red as the Polish flag. You missed this spot too. Apply it here as well.”

“Oh my, Yeon-woo, you sound just like my father.”

“It’s about skin cancer. Skin cancer.”

Jin-yuk laughed as he saw Jun-ho rubbing his neck and head after getting lectured by Yeon-woo.

They came out to the hotel lobby and met the staff members who were waiting and got into the car to head to Walkway, which was close to Waikiki Beach.

Upon arrival, they reached a shooting range.

“Wow, is this the shooting range? I can already hear gunshots.”

“Ugh, it’s been so long since I finished my reserve duty that I don’t even remember when I last did some shooting.”

“Come this way. We’ll start with a safety briefing before moving on.”

After a brief safety briefing, the group looked at the displayed firearms, each contemplating which gun they wanted to try shooting.

“I’ll go with the Glock 19.”

Without much hesitation, Yeon-woo ordered the familiar handgun he had used a lot in the field.

“Good choice. That’s a great pick.”

The employee praised Yeon-woo’s choice.

Despite its simple appearance, the Glock 19 was lightweight, sturdy, and had good durability. It was adopted and used in many countries, and even Korean presidential security team used it.

“You’re not going to shoot the Rifle? It’s a favorite among skilled shooters.”

“Hmm.”

Yeon-woo pondered while stroking his chin.

“If you want, I can make a recommendation.”

The middle-aged employee who was assisting Yeon-woo offered, as he organized the security glasses, shooting headphones, full-rate carrier, and more that Yeon-woo would be using.

“Do you happen to have the Beretta SC70.’90?”

“Oh, interesting choice. Who knew a Korean guy would order an Italian piece?”

The middle-aged employee placed the ordered Beretta, Glock, bullets, and other items in a hard gun case and then helped Yeon-woo put on the plate carrier.

“Well, this feels quite nostalgic.”

As he wore tactical gear he hadn’t put on in a long time, Yeon-woo’s thoughts intertwined.

“What, Yeon-woo, did you already choose?”

“You were even good at choosing difficult things?”

In response to Jin-yuk’s question, Director Kang Inchan, who had been observing from the side, answered instead.

“Haha, I have a bit of interest in this area…”

In reality, it wasn’t just interest, but rather the fact that he had lived a past life as a person skilled with firearms. However, he scratched his head and offered an excuse to the staff members who were looking at Yeon-woo in an odd way.

Other staff members who were also former reserve members and only knew about guns like the M16 and K2 ultimately chose the firearms recommended by the staff. After another round of safety education, they put on protective gear and entered the shooting range.

“Young-chan, why don’t you come first? Let’s show the strength of the Korean reserve forces.”

Director Kang Inchan tapped the back of Kim Young-chan, a member of the camera crew who had recently completed his military service.

“Yes, director. You can trust me!”

With the assistance of the staff, Young-chan took out bullets from an ammo box, loaded the gun, and started shooting.

Bang!

“Wow.”

Kim Young-chan was surprised by the significant recoil he felt from the small barrel.

Seeing his bewildered expression, the staff members laughed.

Young-chan regained his composure and shot at distant targets.

He fired 15 shots before returning.

Young-chan’s target, which was delivered automatically at a fast speed.

He hit twelve out of fifteen shots, mostly centered on the target.

“This is pretty good shooting. Most ordinary people find it difficult to hit the target with a handgun.”

The shooting range staff member praised Young-chan.

Next, the other staff members, took their turns. Most of them shot similarly, and even Ahn Jun-ho shot fifteen rounds, but his target had only three holes.

He tried to insist that it was because they pierced the same spot again, but no one bought it.

Meanwhile, a middle-aged Caucasian man with brown hair from the side looked at Yeon-woo and his group before sneering.

“Damn, they’re even applauding each other without even hitting close to the center. Asians, if it were them, they’d probably shoot arrows or something like that.”

“Hey, Jimmy. Isn’t that a bit racist? Haha. But It’s amusing that you mentioned shooting arrows.”

“Well, who cares? They probably won’t even understand what I said.”

Upon hearing the words from the side, Yeon-woo looked beyond the bulletproof glass, staring at them discreetly.

Just as he did, Ahn Jun-ho, who had finished shooting and returned coolly, called out to Yeon-woo.

“Euhuhu, there’s another ‘unfit for military service’ here, not just me, Yeon-woo. It’s your turn.”

Yeon-woo took out the gun from the gun case and skillfully loaded the bullets.

Ch-chink! Bang!

Pulling the slide didn’t sound ordinary.

Then, with a perfect posture, Yeon-woo started shooting with arms forming a perfect posture.

Bang!

Bang! Bang!

He started by hitting the bullseye with the first shot and continued with a rapid pace.

“Wow.”

With his mouth agape, and his flawless rapid fire, even the shooting range staff clapped, and the rest of the group admired.

“What’s this, a high school student?”

Yeon-woo, who quickly fired fifteen shots, returned to his group, and soon after, the target sheets arrived.

“Wow, guests. Impressive, right?”

On the target sheet handed to them by a staff member, there was a neatly formed crosshair with bullet holes beautifully centered in the target’s bullseye.

“With this level, you’ll surely have the highest score today.”

“Wow! Yeon-woo is boosting our reputation. Why is he so good at shooting again?”

“Hahaha.”

Yeon-woo didn’t have anything else to say, so he just scratched his head.

The following rifle shooting was no different. While the members of the Korean reserve forces generally had better accuracy compared to typical foreign guests due to their military training, Yeon-woo was undoubtedly the best.

“Unbelievable.”

“Is this your first time at a shooting range? You’re amazing.”

Not only the team members but also the staff were amazed by their almost perfect shooting skills.

“Sir, where did you learn to shoot?”

In response to the staff’s question, Yeon-woo looked at the middle-aged brown-haired man standing beside him and replied.

“No, it’s my first-time shooting. Maybe it’s because Koreans are good at shooting arrows.”

Yeon-woo chuckled and organized the gun case.

The members who had completed their military service held their thumbs up, impressed that they could still perform well even after leaving the military. Yeon-woo and Jun-ho, who hadn’t served in the military, felt a bit bitter thinking about it.

In the afternoon, after a sightseeing tour on a cruise ship, the ‘Summer Promise’ team decided to rest in their hotel rooms. Yeon-woo, feeling the night breeze, decided to take a short walk outside the hotel.

In the distance, a familiar silhouette appeared. Han So-hyeon with her white skin reflecting the light from the convenience store, along with the writer Choi Mi-hyun.

‘Feeling hungry?’

Seeing them outside the hotel, Yeon-woo approached with a pleasant greeting.

However, his eyes caught sight of sturdy young men who seemed to be acquaintances of So-hyeon and Mi-hyu.

‘Could it be, a cliché situation is happening?’

But the situation had much more credibility than Yeon-woo’s thoughts.

Though it was a tourist destination, the fact remained that the safety in this foreign land might not be as good as in Korea. Approaching a pretty woman as beautiful as So-hyeon and Mi-hyu in a foreign, relatively unsafe area could easily be misinterpreted as a threat, even if the intention wasn’t impure.

Yeon-woo crossed the street and approached, speaking to the men in English.

“Hey, mates. What’s going on? I’m part of the group.”

So-hyeon, who was slightly nervous, looked back.

“Yeon-woo!”
