Chapter 23: Real Estate
Back at the house, Wesley showed Carlos everything. "I can only say that he is very unlucky to have been discovered by you. Come to think of it, he is not young anymore. He will probably retire soon, and the direction of the Assassin Brotherhood depends on what the successor thinks."
"Since it has decayed, let it disappear. When do we leave?"
"Tomorrow, Sloan's funds. I bought three million shares of Stark's stock, and the rest of the money is stored with our recent withdrawals. This is our living expenses. These property rights documents have New York villas and apartments. It seems that Sloan likes New York very much, just like our purpose."
"That's right. Shall we go to New York first?"
"Yes, let's go to New York first and get our home settled. But what about all these firearms?" Wesley asked, looking at the pile of firearms.
"Do you want an army fire in the house?" Carlos asked.
"Naturally, we have to put them in case we can't find them when we need them. But these firearms are too messy. We need high-quality weapons. By the way, my car is still parked nearby. Tomorrow, we will leave in my car and only bring pistols. As for other weapons, we will buy them later."
"Okay, but I have to bring my sniper rifle. You've seen the power of these guns." Carlos didn't want to give up his sniper rifles, but Wesley agreed. Carlos's technique is definitely a killer weapon. With special bullets, long-range sniping is always successful.
Wesley went to his car. There was some dust on it. He began a careful inspection, then started the car and went to wash it. He drove back and put Carlos's six sniper rifles under the back seat. Then he threw his clothes and luggage in the trunk and they got in the car. Wesley drove and the father and son began the long journey.
Turning on the radio and adjusting it to a music channel, the father and son listened to the song all the way to New York. There is no such thing as a household registration and identity card in the United States. Wherever you arrive, you will automatically become a resident here. In the subsequent elections, you need to register with the voters and use your driver's license for the rest.
"Are we going to live in a villa or an apartment?" Carlos asked.
"I don't know. Anyway, we have plenty of time now, don't we? Let's go and take a look. We can live wherever we like, or it's not bad to change places, right?" Wesley was driving and talking with Carlos. They were getting along much better now.
The car drove into New York. It took them two weeks to reach New York and they went straight to a hotel. Now they needed to rest. They were too tired. As for what New York was like, who cared?
After a good night's sleep, Wesley slowly got up the next day. He should have taken a plane. A car cost less than $40,000, and it took two weeks to arrive in New York. It was probably not far from being scrapped. He would sell it directly to the secondhand car market tomorrow.
Carlos woke up much earlier than he did. He had no problem being a top-notch assassin on such a long journey, but Wesley was much worse.
"Are we going to the law firm today?" Carlos called room service in.
"Yes, I don't want to stay in a hotel forever." They had breakfast and then drove to the law firm in a hurry. Sloan's real estate was bought a few years ago. Although the real estate price in Manhattan has always been high, it can't be compared to it a few years ago or now. Of course, you have to pay taxes every year.
"Actually, maybe we should live in another country. The taxation in the United States is too much," Wesley said as he drove.
"Isn't it always like this?" Carlos's words stunned Wesley. China is definitely not like this, but Carlos really doesn't know much about it. He has always been homeless and is not in the mood to study this.
The law firm was next to the New York Supreme Court. The two of them walked in and consulted at the front desk. "Hello, Miss. We're here to deal with property rights. This is the business I handled here a few years ago." Wesley took out a document and handed it over. The front desk looked at it and said, "Please wait a moment." Then he immediately made a call.
Not long after, a middle-aged man walked out and looked at the Gibson father and son dressed in denim pants and leather jackets. However, he did not have to look down on them. This business was run by him back then and the annual tax payment commission was quite a lot.
"Please follow me." The middle-aged man brought the two of them directly to the small reception room, and then the two sides sat down, and he called for three cups of coffee. "My name is Philip, please show the property rights document." Philip doesn't look at people, he just looks at the document and comes with the document.
Wesley handed over all the documents. Philip looked them over and said, "Not bad. There's nothing wrong with the documents. Are you going to make the transfer now?"
There were four properties in total, and Wesley decided to take a look at them first. If he was not satisfied with them, he would sell them directly, or wait a few years for the land prices to rise a little more. He did not need to transfer them to his own name. Now, he just needed a place to live.
"Mr. Philip, we want to take a look and choose a place suitable for my father and me to live. The rest might be sold." Philip's eyes lit up. If they sold well, they would have a commission.
"Of course. Shall we go now? Do you need me to drive?" Phillip is so enthusiastic that Wesley naturally knows that he is a guy who looks at money, but it is really convenient. American lawyers are very useful.
"It's best now. We're driving. Of course, you can also drive your own car. We can follow behind you."
"Okay, no problem at all." Philip took the keys to four properties from the office and then went to get the car.
"Wesley, are we going to sell a few?" Carlos asked.
"Not necessarily. It depends on the situation. Maybe we need to rent it. We can't live in four places, so it depends on the situation." Carlos didn't quite understand, so he just listened to his son.
The two cars were one behind the other. Wesley's car was covered in dust. They had been driving for two weeks. They had not had time to wash their cars since they arrived in New York yesterday. It was obvious that they had driven a long way. The Chevrolet Macro was beautiful in appearance, but it was now covered up.
"The first place here is a high-rise apartment. Don't look at how old this place is, but now an apartment here costs more than 30 million dollars. Next to it is the Stark Industries building." Wesley glanced at the Stark Company building and immediately decided to sell this place. All the buildings around the Battle of New York are unlucky. He doesn't want this place. Even if it will definitely appreciate in the future, there are many bad things.
"Mr. Philip, this property is entrusted to you to sell. I think it shouldn't be a problem to sell it for a good price. For every million dollars sold, your commission will be an additional fifty thousand dollars."
"Thank you very much for your generosity. There is absolutely no problem. There are many people who want to buy this place now. I can gather some big buyers for a simple auction."
