Chapter 151: A Desperate Struggle?
The sharp clang of metal echoed through the air as Baishi deflected the now powerless shuriken with a flick of his finger. The shuriken reversed its path and hurtled back toward Danzo.
Even under the protection of Izanagi, Danzo instinctively dodged, leaping back to maintain his distance.
Baishi paid him no further attention.
He turned his focus to Baku, the summon that had been tirelessly pulling air toward itself. Baishi's wings fluttered slightly, halting his approach mid-air as though he were suspended in time. Despite Baku's mighty suction, Baishi remained motionless.
Realizing its efforts were futile, the intelligent beast hesitated. But Baishi was not about to let it retreat.
With another sharp beat of his wings, Baishi accelerated forward. Within seconds, he was beside Baku, delivering a devastating punch to the summon.
The massive creature hurtled through the air, its blood spraying in arcs as it crashed into the ground.
Baishi didn't let up. He appeared before Baku again, cutting off its escape. Another kick launched the creature into the sky.
What followed was a brutal barrage. Baishi moved like a phantom, delivering blow after blow, sending Baku tumbling in different directions. In the blink of an eye, the mighty summon had suffered over a dozen hits, leaving it bloodied and broken.
Danzo watched in confusion.
"Why waste time on Baku when you could attack me?"
For Baishi, it wasn't a waste. While his strikes appeared random, he was secretly planting Flying Thunder God markers on Baku's body. This was not out of fear of the beast's power but to ensure control over its spatial capabilities.
When satisfied with his preparations, Baishi finally abandoned Baku, leaving it gasping and unable to stand.
Though broken and bloodied, the summon remained.
Danzo, despite seeing its condition, did not dismiss it.
Baishi's gaze locked onto Danzo's bandaged right arm.
The bindings were now gone, revealing six Sharingan embedded into the flesh.
"Six eyes on the arm and one in his right socket," Baishi calculated silently. "Seven minutes of Izanagi at most."
As Baishi closed in, Danzo's right eye gleamed with a three-tomoe Sharingan. He dodged Baishi's first attack, then unleashed a genjutsu through eye contact.
Yet, to his surprise, the genjutsu failed to take hold.
Baishi smirked at Danzo's confusion. "Let me return the favor."
A faint glimmer emanated from Baishi's Illusion Ring, drawing Danzo's gaze. His mind faltered for a brief moment.
"Not good!" Danzo thought, immediately attempting to dispel the mental invasion.
But it was too late.
Baishi's wooden spike shot from his palm, piercing Danzo's abdomen.
Baishi refrained from targeting Danzo's heart, instead aiming to test his theories about Izanagi. He approached the dying man, pressing a hand to Danzo's chest to deliver the finishing blow. At the same time, he discreetly planted a Flying Thunder God marker.
Moments later, Danzo's heart stopped, and his body dissolved like a mirage. Izanagi activated, and Danzo reappeared unscathed.
Baishi's eyes gleamed. The marker was still in place.
Activating the Flying Thunder God, Baishi teleported directly to Danzo, his hand wrapping around his throat.
With a sickening crack, Danzo's neck snapped. Once again, his body dissolved, and Izanagi brought him back.
Baishi confirmed his findings with satisfaction.
"If he couldn't erase the marker after seeing it in action, then Izanagi cannot affect it. You're mine, Danzo."
Perhaps Danzo realized the same. His attacks grew wild and desperate—Wind Release techniques interspersed with taijutsu and genjutsu—but none pierced Baishi's impenetrable Chakra Cloak.
Danzo, cornered, unsealed his right arm completely. From the wooden implants, branches began to sprout, forming makeshift weapons to aid his attacks.
Baishi watched calmly.
"Just six Sharingan left. Let's see how much longer you can last."
Time ticked by, and five minutes passed.
Danzo's right arm was down to a single active Sharingan.
As he felt his options dwindling, a voice echoed in his mind: "My lord, the preparations are complete."
Danzo's expression changed. Steadying himself, he turned toward Baku and commanded it to inhale.
Simultaneously, Danzo unleashed Wind Release: Vacuum Wave, combining it with Baku's suction to enhance its power.
To Baishi, it appeared as though Danzo was preparing for one final, desperate move.
