My Movie Queen: Chapter 133
"I thought they wanted you to marry Oliver?" Yanna asked, after listening to Vanessa's explanation.
"They did," Vanessa admitted, "If I hadn't met you, I might have actually married him. He really likes me, and my parents like him. Maybe I would have become a hopeless heroine, but thanks to you, I saw and realized something I didn't notice before."
Yanna smiled. "What's your decision?"
"I want to enter the company and introduce you as my wife, but I'm worried about the effects of our relationship becoming public, especially now that your career is progressing so well." This was something Vanessa had been worrying about, knowing her parents and others were waiting for her to make a mistake to cause trouble.
Yanna fell silent, pondering the situation. It wasn't the perfect time to go public, even though she wouldn't mind. It could lead to unwanted public scrutiny, gossip, and backlash to their careers. With all these potential problems, Yanna still had a few ideas.
"How about we announce it to the public ourselves?" Yanna suggested.
Vanessa was surprised. "What are you talking about?"
"Instead of keeping it lowkey and waiting for our fans to discover our relationship, or worse, for unwanted people to find out, it's better to hear it from us."
This time, it was Vanessa who fell silent. She wanted to join her family company and lead it, rather than letting others take over. She also wanted to use its power and influence to protect Yanna. But if she agreed to Yanna's suggestion, it might backfire on Yanna's career, which was something she wanted to protect.
Yanna reached out and gently nudged Vanessa, waking her from her thoughts. "Honey?"
"I think we can't do that for the time being," Vanessa replied.
"Why?"
"I'm learning business, not only to lead what's supposed to be mine in the future, but also because I want to be the person who can protect you behind the scenes. I know you can handle any trouble if you put your mind to it, but I want to be the first person you can ask for help, the first person you can think of when you need something, and always be the person beside you." Vanessa couldn't think of a solution right now, so she could only explain to avoid any misunderstanding.
Yanna appreciated Vanessa's thoughtfulness and love. She also wanted to protect Vanessa from harm and support her in everything she wanted. "I understand, thank you honey. How about this, while you're not yet setting your foot in the company, why don't you focus on the small business you set up before?"
"But what if Oliver's mother makes a sudden move? Even though Oliver is already at Mirayuki's hand, his mother is different."
"That's more reason for you to make your company grow. Don't rush, honey. This way, you can apply what you learned. It will be a good starting point. Also, think about it, if you can manage to make it big, doesn't that prove your strength as the leader? Something your parents have never thought about."
Vanessa listened carefully and thought about what Mirayuki had said. Yanna had a clever and quick mind and had potential in business.
Vanessa smiled, finally stopping worrying about the company. "Mirayuki said you have potential in business, so how about you help me manage the company for the time being? Let's follow your suggestion, and in the future, I promise you don't have to work hard."
"You believe her?" Yanna asked, raising an eyebrow. At the same time, Vanessa's last words echoed in her mind.
"Even if she didn't say it, I know you better than her. How can I not know that you can?"
"Hmm..." Yanna pretended to think, closing her eyes and holding her chin.
Vanessa, knowing Yanna was just playing with her, patiently waited, watching Yanna with a wide smile.
"Fine, you're my wife, so I will help. BUT, your promise, you must remember that."
Vanessa chuckled and hugged Yanna. "I promise!"
Yanna looked at her wife, who was beaming. She whispered, "Baby, shall we go to sleep now?"
Vanessa blushed, understanding what Yanna meant. "Okay, let's sleep now." Vanessa quickly covered herself with the blanket, distancing herself from Yanna.
"Come on now, baby, why are you so covered and running away?"
"Sleep, we still have work tomorrow."
