My Movie Queen: Chapter 108

Vanessa watched as Yanna peacefully drifted off to sleep, unaware of the secret she had almost revealed. Shaking her head, Vanessa didn't dwell on it too much. Instead, she sent a message to her cousin and manager to let them know she had returned. With careful movements, Vanessa lifted the blanket and settled down beside Yanna.

When Yanna woke up in the morning, she felt a weight on her chest. Slowly opening her eyes, she found Vanessa lying innocently on her chest. It dawned on Yanna that Vanessa had arrived late last night, but due to her drunken state, she hadn't thought about whether Vanessa had eaten or not. Yanna had almost spilled her secret and allowed Vanessa to take care of her like a child. However, Yanna didn't want to reveal her secret while under the influence of alcohol.

Yanna hugged Vanessa gently and carefully moved her to the side, ensuring her comfort before getting up to wash herself. It didn't take long for Yanna to freshen up. She grabbed her phone and headed to the kitchen to prepare breakfast.

After setting the meal on the table, Yanna checked the time. It was almost 9 in the morning. Just as she was about to turn around, Vanessa surprised her by hugging her from behind.

"Good morning, honey," Yanna greeted, turning around to embrace Vanessa and planting a gentle kiss on her forehead.

"Good morning," Vanessa replied, her voice muffled and clearly still sleepy.

"You can sleep more after eating," Yanna said with an affectionate smile.

"No, I want to stay by your side. I'll just sleep on your lap later. Do you have any appointments today?" Vanessa asked as Yanna guided her to a chair.

"Yeah, I just checked the news and Set is currently trending. There are rumors about his affair with his manager, which the media has caught wind of. His affair with the president has also come to light, along with evidence of him mistreating newcomers in the entertainment industry. Since my name is associated with him, the company has asked me to come in."

"Your plan is still working then, which is a good thing. The company probably wants to hear your opinion as one of the victims. However, with all these scandals, you should expect that members of his family or other people might be there. And if news about Set hasn't been blocked yet, more people will likely try to contact those who might be the mastermind," Vanessa remarked, taking a sip of the creamy mushroom soup.

"Yeah, but they won't find out," Yanna replied confidently.

"But what if Arnold tell the secret?" Vanessa asked casually, already considering the possibility of silencing him.

Yanna paused upon hearing Vanessa's question before continuing to eat. "If he can't keep his mouth shut, he'll only be causing himself more trouble. Even if he drags my name into it, no one will believe him."

"Why is that?" Vanessa inquired.

"The evidence of our communication has already been destroyed. He had saved some information about our meeting, but fortunately, I didn't trust him at the time. So I asked Maya to hack into his phone. He wanted to use it as a scapegoat if our plan failed, but it seems he had a change of heart or something happened that made him alter the plan."

"What about the evidence?" Vanessa pressed.

"He deleted it. I had Maya monitor if Arnold was going to forward it to someone else, but he deleted it before our plan could be put into action. By then, he must have already decided to change the plan," Yanna explained.

"He did the right thing. Maybe, like you, he didn't trust anyone. But something must have happened to make him take matters into his own hands," Vanessa mused.

"Yeah," Yanna agreed, her mood slightly shifting.

By this point, Vanessa could sense the change in Yanna's demeanor. "By the way, you mentioned something last night."

Yanna's thoughts abruptly halted upon hearing Vanessa bring up the previous night. Vanessa, noticing that she had successfully diverted the topic, smirked and continued, "Last night... you said you loved me from the beginning, even before we met."

Embarrassment flushed Yanna's ears as she stammered, "Did I really... say that?"

"Yes, which actually makes me curious-" Vanessa began, but Yanna interrupted.

"Honey, you should eat more. You only had the soup and didn't eat anything else."

"Don't change the subject," Vanessa playfully protested, but she still reached for the egg roll Yanna had placed on her plate.

"I'm not changing the subject, honey," Yanna replied, unable to meet Vanessa's gaze.

Vanessa regarded Yanna with a skeptical gaze, fully aware of her embarrassment. She simply wanted to revel in it for a little while longer. "But you cut me off," Vanessa pouted.

"Okay, honey, my bad. I won't do it again next time," Yanna smoothly coaxed Vanessa, her voice tinged with a hint of remorse. She extended a delicate hand, her fingers lightly brushing against Vanessa's arm. "How 'bout you try this homemade ginger tea I whipped up?"

Intrigued by the mention of the ginger tea, Vanessa's mischievous thoughts faded away, replaced by curiosity. She found herself drawn to the steaming cup, the warm aroma of ginger wafting through the air, mingling with the faint scent of vanilla.

As Vanessa took a sip of the tea, a comforting warmth spread through her body. The spicy flavor of the ginger danced on her taste buds, complemented by a subtle sweetness that added depth to the brew.

Yanna noticed Vanessa's interest in the tea and seized the opportunity to strike up a conversation. "You just came back earlier. Do you have any appointments later?"

Vanessa pondered for a moment before nodding. "Yes, I do. That's why I was thinking, have you called your assistant and bodyguard to pick you up later?"

With a slight furrow of her brow, Yanna looked at Vanessa, a hint of confusion in her eyes, as Vanessa continued to enjoy her breakfast.

"Why?" Yanna asked, her curiosity piqued. "I mean, I don't mind, but... will it be okay?"

Vanessa wiped her lips with a napkin, signaling the end of her meal, before responding. "Don't worry, it will be fine. Now that your name is being dragged again, what happened to you before surely has already surfaced too. All the preparation we did before came into fruition, so you need a bodyguard now for safety . There must be a lot of reporters waiting for you at the company."
