Chapter 117: Some Morning Exercise
_____
It was perfectly normal for Stephen to be stunned. The title of godfather carried significant weight in the West. Acknowledging a godfather meant placing that person's position above your own. The godfather is a figure of deep respect, offering protection and benefits, but in return, you must serve the godfather and follow his guidance in many matters. Ultimately, it signifies profound respect.
Stephen remained silent for a long time after hearing Wong's explanation. Wong observed him and smiled.
"I can tell you don't like this idea," Wong remarked.
"No," Stephen shook his head, disagreeing.
"Oh?" Wong was now curious.
Stephen looked up, finally speaking in a calm, deliberate tone. "My future was given to me by Lorien. When I saw the coldness and warmth of the world, it was the hope that Lorien offered me. After my accident, when no one else cared about me, Lorien was the first to visit me in the hospital. Even after I recovered, his attitude remained unchanged; he treated me exactly the same as before. From that moment on, I understood something."
He paused for a second, reflecting, before continuing.
"The warmest thing in this world... is hope. And that hope... was given to me by Lorien. I accept him as my godfather!"
When Stephen finished, it was now Wong's turn to be stunned. He hadn't expected such a deep, innate connection between the two.
Meanwhile, late at night, in the master bedroom on the top floor of the North Building, Lorien rested with two Gwens, one on each side. They had finally fallen asleep after being exhausted from their earlier activities, but Lorien remained wide awake, lost in thought.
As the saying goes, "One mountain cannot accommodate three tigers, unless it's one male and two females." So, here they were, fitting just fine. Both Gwens, influenced by the Tiger Charm, had different personalities—one cheerful, the other introverted—but they both shared the same feelings toward Lorien. They loved him equally.
Lorien was pondering if this situation was permanent. Could Gwen differentiate between her split selves, and could she distinguish between their individual desires? If only she could, he thought, the experience would be even more fascinating. He wasn't sure if that was possible, but he intended to find out. What if it worked? Still, regardless of that, both versions of Gwen were amazing, and Lorien liked them both. He wasn't the type to grow tired of one and favor the other. That was his line—he wouldn't cross it.
In the dark bedroom, Lorien stared at the ceiling, deep in thought. For some reason, sleep rarely came to him at this hour. He needed time to relax his mind.
"Click~~"
Suddenly, the door to the master bedroom opened gently. A black energy wrapped around the lock, ensuring there was no noise. A small figure floated in, shrouded in darkness, before quietly closing the door again.
Lorien knew immediately who it was—it was little Hela. Without needing to move, Lorien used his ability to communicate with her telepathically.
"Little Hela, what are you doing?"
"Shh~~" Hela hushed him, signaling him to stay quiet.
The darkness surrounding her vanished, and even in the dim light, Lorien could see a large expanse of pale skin. At that moment, a song came to his mind, but there was no way to escape. His legs were pinned down by one Gwen, and his arms were tightly hugged by the other. He couldn't move an inch!
If anyone was in a position to move, it was only Hela.
"Go back!" Lorien's thoughts echoed sternly to her.
But Hela simply pouted, shaking her head defiantly. She covered her footsteps with divine power, making no sound as she moved. Even if she jumped, there would be no noise.
Hela tiptoed over to where Lorien would have to lower his head to see her, subtly moving his hands and feet. Lorien froze. He couldn't recall what happened after that, except for Hela's last words echoing in his mind:
"Shake, shake, shake, shake to Bifrost."
The next day, when Lorien woke up, Gwen had already gone to school on her own. Lorien used his ability to scan the surroundings. Hela was sleeping soundly, wrapped in a blanket on the thick rug in the living room.
"Ah..." Lorien let out a long sigh, unsure of what to say. He had been the one initiating everything before, but this time, it was his turn to stop. It started quietly, but soon Hela became more and more wild. If Lorien hadn't used his abilities to seal off all of Gwen's senses, things could have ended badly.
"Never mind." He sighed again and stretched, finally coming to terms with the situation. After all, it had been enjoyable. Why stress so much about it?
Hela was mischievous, sure, but Lorien planned to deal with that soon enough. Once he had the time, he would put her in her place and remind her who the real boss was.
"Get up!" Lorien threw off the quilt and headed straight for a hot shower. As the water cascaded down from his head, the steam filled the room. But despite the warmth, his frustration only grew. It was hard to believe he had been outplayed by a loli.
"Dammit," he muttered, still feeling the sting of it. After drying his hair, he stomped over to Hela, picked her up, and dragged her back. "Get up and do some morning exercises!"
By 9:00 AM, Lorien was seated in his office, sipping on some milk tea. "Sluuurp," he reclined on his chair, rehydrating. He tossed the empty cup into the trash and stretched with satisfaction.
"Ah, that's better." Lorien felt both physically and mentally at peace after giving Hela a tough lesson earlier that morning. As for Hela, she lay sprawled on the floor like a helpless little turtle, her hair in disarray. She'd have to shower later.
"Hmm, hmm," Lorien hummed to himself cheerfully, casually fishing while playing games and browsing the news.
Headlines flashed across the screen:
[Famous entrepreneur, philanthropist, and genius scientist Iron Man Tony Stark officially announces that he will no longer be in charge of Stark Industries, leaving it in the hands of CEO Pepper Potts!]
[New York's largest Citibank was robbed by unidentified terrorists last night, but instead of taking any gold, they chose to distribute it among the citizens!]
[Ms. Spider and Scarlet Witch no longer seen collaborating. Is there a rift between them? Stay tuned to find out!]
Reading the news, Lorien couldn't help but shake his head. The world always seemed full of surprises. There was even a rumor that Wanda and Gwen had a falling out.
"What a joke," Lorien said with a chuckle. "How come I didn't know about this supposed conflict?"
He wondered for a moment if everything around him was just a façade.
Time flew by as he continued fishing, and soon enough, it was noon.
Knock, knock.
"Come in," Lorien called out in response to the knock on his office door.
In walked Natasha Romanoff, looking slightly different from usual. Her hair was dyed red, styled in soft waves, and she was wearing a bold shade of lipstick that made her look even more alluring. She wore a leather vest and blue skinny jeans, giving off a badass vibe—like a Harley-riding rebel. She looked incredibly cool.
Lorien's gaze drifted up and down, and Natasha noticed, smiling as she walked in front of him, giving him time to admire her. After a few spins, Lorien nodded in approval.
"Gwen's definitely going to love your look when she sees it," Lorien remarked. "It's really cool."
"Really? That's great to hear!" Natasha replied, her eyes twinkling. "Maybe next time I see her, I'll take her shopping for a matching outfit."
Her idea was promising.
