Major General, a Male Zerg has been found on the battlefield!!

41

In the course of a civilization’s evolution, internal or external threats are inevitable. Although zergs never proactively invaded others’ territories, this didn’t mean they were free from invasion.

Wars were won and lost, and some enemies had once captured zergs in battle. They used zergs as experimental subjects, ultimately developing a method to neutralize the most formidable part of a zerg’s body: their wings.

This special blue liquid, which targeted the nervous system of the wings, once caused significant setbacks for zergs in their battles against invaders.

Over time, this liquid, which could disable zerg wings, began circulating in the black markets of the star systems.

Although the primary ingredients for this liquid were now controlled by the zergs, no successful instances of its production had been reported in recent years.

How had these men obtained it?

The strength in Rhys’s wings began to wane. He tried to retract them back into his body but found that their response was sluggish. “Damn it.”

“Hey, don’t be in such a rush to retract them. Look at how cute this little guy full of strength is.”

The fox-eyed man grabbed the soft wings of the zerg lying on the ground. His tongue, now resembling a snake’s, slithered along the front bones of Rhys’s wings.

He Qin, wrapped in his own mental power, crawled towards the fox-eyed man. Before the man could extend his tongue again, He Qin drew a small knife from his waist and severed the disgusting long tongue.

“Ah!!!” The fox-eyed man’s scream was so loud that it scared the birds in the trees, making them fly away.

“Disgusting creature.” He Qin shook the knife forcefully in the air, causing the severed tongue to fall into the grass.

The freshly cut tongue continued to wriggle due to nerve reflexes, resembling a decapitated snake.

“Damn you, zerg! I’m going to kill you!”

While the enemies were momentarily stunned, He Qin pushed Rhys’s limp wings back to him. “Quick, retract them.” He then drew another small knife from his boot and handed it to Rhys.

Damn, he had relied too much on Enzo. Before leaving, he had given the space ring containing weapons to his female father. Now, all they had were these two small knives.

He Qin glanced at the enemies’ powerful-looking weapons and then at the two small knives he and Rhys held.

He began to assess the surroundings.

The cave entrance was tightly blocked by these men. Forcing their way out would likely result in death or capture.

That route was cut off.

“Squeak.”

A squirrel appeared at his feet, its fluffy tail wrapped around He Qin’s pant leg. When He Qin looked at it, the squirrel ran a few steps towards the forest on the right.

The little creature paused occasionally, looking back at He Qin.

Was it trying to lead them somewhere?

“Guys, let’s get serious. The sooner we finish this, the sooner we get paid.” The man with white pupils hefted a machine gun, and the others followed suit, aiming their weapons at the zerg.

There was no choice but to take a gamble.

With his calf muscles tensed, He Qin quickly pulled Rhys up and ran towards where the squirrel had disappeared.

“That’s five million star coins! Don’t let that zerg escape. Fire!”

With no other options, the zerg had to make a desperate run for it. At this range, simultaneous gunfire would turn them into swiss cheese.

“Bang!” Laser guns and cannons fired simultaneously, the valley echoing with the sound.

Just as in his military training to dodge bombs, He Qin shielded his head with his hands and dragged Rhys to the ground.

Could it be that they were not hit by pure luck?

He looked back in surprise. It turned out Rhys had once again spread his wings, blocking the powerful blasts and shielding them.

But under the influence of that potion, Rhys’s wings had lost their original hardness.

“Ugh,” Rhys groaned in pain, lying on his back.

The laser cannon’s direct hit had fractured the bones in his wings, and blood was streaming down the framework, quickly forming a sizable pool on the ground.

“Rhys, you…” He Qin was alarmed, realizing that the zerg was still carrying young ones. How could he endure such an attack? He Qin hurriedly spread his remaining mental power around Rhys’s abdomen.

“Let’s go.” The weapons in those men’s hands needed to recharge after such a massive attack, giving them a brief window to escape.

He Qin used all his strength to support half of Rhys’s body. Fortunately, his burst of strength was considerable. Even with a person on his shoulders, his speed didn’t decrease.

“Squeak.” The squirrel reappeared out of nowhere, now brazenly standing at He Qin’s feet.

The dense trees blocked out the sun, causing the space pirates to lose their sense of direction. They ended up wandering in circles within the forest. The more anxious they became, the harder it was to find their way out. One man, frustrated, used a laser cannon to cut down several trees, which fell to the ground.

This disturbance angered the valley’s monkey troop. Led by their king, the monkeys scurried through the remaining branches, occasionally throwing stones and pinecones. The monkeys’ strength was considerable, causing the space pirates to run around clutching their heads.

They had gambled correctly; the pirates were now stuck in the forest and unable to pursue them immediately.

“Thank you so much,” He Qin said, patting the squirrel on the head with a smile.

Led by the forest animals, He Qin half-carried Rhys to a cave hidden behind a waterfall.

“Bear with it,” He Qin said, taking off his coat and placing it on the damp rocks. He carefully moved Rhys’s injured wings, trying not to cause further pain.

Wings were an important weapon and a source of pride for zergs. Zergs with injured wings were often advised to retire from the military. He Qin had learned this from the history of the zergs.

While He Qin worried over Rhys’s injuries, Rhys immediately sent a distress signal to the zerg starship.

“The Major General is in trouble?” a zerg exclaimed.

Fortunately, Rhys had been cautious and ordered that there always be zergs on duty aboard the starship.

Receiving the signal, the zerg soldiers quickly assembled without notifying the humans on Earth. In teams, they piloted small spacecraft from the starship toward the signal’s source.

“How do you feel? Besides your wings, is there any discomfort in your abdomen?” He Qin asked, unlike Rhys, who remained calm in such a situation.

After helping the zerg sit down, He Qin started examining Rhys’s body from top to bottom, focusing especially on his most vulnerable area.

“Don’t worry, the egg is fine, but…” Rhys said.

Following the zerg’s gaze, He Qin knelt behind Rhys.

The fractured bones and charred, attacked areas were visible. However, the most troubling issue was the blue and purple lines protruding from the wing roots. It appeared these lines were interfering with the nerve transmissions in Rhys’s wings, rendering him unable to control them.

“Why did you do that?” He Qin asked, referring to Rhys risking the potential loss of his wings to protect him.

“My life isn’t as important as your safety,” Rhys replied.

He Qin felt both touched and angry at the zerg’s response. “Don’t forget, you’re carrying a child.”

“He’s just an unformed egg; he’s certainly not as important as you.” Rhys couldn’t understand why the male zerg was angry. In his education, the safety of the male zerg was always the top priority.

An unhatched egg, whether male or female, couldn’t compare to the importance of an adult male zerg.

“Shh.” He Qin placed his finger on Rhys’s lips.

“Never say again that you’re not important and I am. Rhys, listen carefully to what I’m about to say. In the future, if you encounter danger, you must ensure your own safety first. Rhys, you are my treasure too. If I lost you, what would be the point of living alone in this world?”

“Sorry, Master. I will remember that,” Rhys replied sincerely, unable to resist kissing the back of the male zerg’s hand.

“Don’t move around. I’ll give you some basic treatment.”

“Okay.”

He Qin had been over-relying on his materialized mental power lines recently, and after the recent attack, it was now difficult for him to mobilize his mental power.

As a hero of the Empire, a zerg major general couldn’t be without his wings.

To cut off the potion’s control, He Qin took several deep breaths and exerted all his strength to materialize his mental power lines. He delicately inserted the lines into the nerves connecting the wings and the brain, meticulously extracting the blue potion.

Maintaining such precise control and technique under these extreme conditions was something even a highly trained person like Ryan might not achieve.

“Alright, once we get back and treat the superficial wounds, there shouldn’t be any major problems.” He Qin sighed in relief, wiping the sweat from his forehead with his sleeve.

The consequence of overextending his mental power was a continuous drain on his physical strength.

“Be careful.” Rhys quickly reached out to support the male zerg, preventing He Qin from collapsing to the ground.

As a female zerg, he had failed to prioritize the male zerg’s safety, blindly following the master’s wishes. He couldn’t forgive himself for his repeated negligence. “Master, I’m sorry, it was my carelessness.”

“It’s not your fault.” He Qin ran his fingers through Rhys’s hair. “Instead of discussing whose fault it is, I think the first thing we should do when we get back is to investigate the mastermind behind these men.”

Rhys buried his head in the male zerg’s firm abdomen, inhaling the ginger blossom scent from his master. Only then did his tense nerves begin to relax.

While the space pirates were still wandering in circles in the forest, the zerg soldiers piloted their spacecraft to the top of the valley.

Rhys kept his eyes on the red dot in the clouds. “Master, they’ve arrived.” The soldiers he brought this time were all elite troops, more than capable of handling those men.

The air currents from the spacecraft bent the tree branches towards the ground. The space pirates quickly realized the sound came from zerg spacecraft.

The white-eyed captain waved his hand and told his men, “Retreat.”

It seemed earning those five million star coins wasn’t going to be easy.

Major General Rhys’s wings were much more dazzling than those of ordinary zergs. On the battlefield, they instilled unconditional fear in the enemy. The soldiers saw the major general’s wings from a distance and the male zerg beside him.

“Major General, are you injured?” Most of the soldiers feared Rhys and didn’t dare to approach, only daring to voice their concern quietly.

“Leave one team to search for the enemy. There are five of them, one with a white right eye. Do not underestimate them; they are very strong fighters,” Rhys ordered coldly after ensuring the male xerg was settled.

“Understood.”

“Once you find them, leave one alive; the rest should be killed on the spot.” Anyone who tried to harm his master would pay with their lives.

“Yes, Major General.”
