LUNA’S SECRET

Luna spent the rest of the day luxuriating on her bed happy to not have to work, she even slept for a while before she decided to go see her new work place, and familiarize herself with the environment, Erica was still somewhere in the pack house probably in the guest area and Luna blushed imagining what she would be doing with her new mate.

Almost instantly her thought flashed back to when her bare bosom was on Marcus chest and she colored prettily, detesting herself for thinking of Marcus in that way when less than a month ago she was in love with and flirting with her best friend Theron Caius , sharing with him their first and last kiss, refusing to analyze the situation too deeply, her thoughts vied to other details. When she and Alpha Marcus had left the kitchen together after telling off her bully , Alpha Marcus eyes didn't even meet her face once as he strolled into what she assumed would be his office and slammed the door shut with a click.

After getting lost severally too afraid to ask for direction she finally found the pack clinic it was how you would expect it to be extremely sterile and clutter free, it was painted white, empty beds lines the room and in another room lay a shelf that contained different medications, syringes, drips.

She saw a handsome woman woman pouring over what seemed to be patient file, so absorbed was she in her work that she didn't even notice Luna until she greeted her. "Good afternoon Madam, I am Lauretta Olgen, Alpha Marcus assigned me to work here as your assistant.

"Oh yes, the alpha already spoke to me about it but you don't start until tomorrow ?". Her pause emphasized a silent question, what are you doing here ?. Luna quickly filled her in."I wanted to come see my new work place and familiarize myself with the environment. The woman has stopped reading her note and her attention was fixated wholly on Luna, There was a brief silence were both women appraised each other.

Then Evangeline Howard continued, "you said your Lauretta right ? ".

"Yes, welcome onboard Lauretta, do you have any medical knowledge? When Lauretta looked at her blankly, she decided to emphasize more what I mean is that have you ever worked in the healthcare field like given injections , bed baths, drips?"

"No Madam". 

"Stop this madam nonsense, just call me Evangeline or Dr Evangeline if you please".

Luna felt calling the much older woman by her name was , well it didn't just sit right with her so she decided to just stick to just calling her doctor. "

"No doctor , the kind of healing that was practiced in my pack was traditionally healing and sometimes the use of prayers and incantations". Evangeline looked at Luna as if she had suddenly sprouted two heads, "which pack did you say you come from again?".

"Red moon pack doctor".

Evangeline said nothing and filed the information away for safe keeping to report to the alpha later, She was beginning to fear Luna was not who she claimed to be , but the girl didn't seem to be evil, so she wondered why she was lying and keeping secretes. Evangeline knew for sure that the red moon pack was very advanced in both technological and medical advancement just like their pack was and didn't depend on ancient believes.

You should have a sit Lauretta, "thank you doctor". Luna muttered sitting in one of the pristine sits feeling awkward as Evangeline's knowing brown eyes peered into her soul.

"The last time I saw you , you had fainted and I prescribed some medications and drips for you". 

Luna colored in mortification, hoping the woman didn't see her in that state of undress in Marcus bed , she would really think the worse of it. "I got better and I removed the drips myself and left as I had to go prepare for work". 

"Lauretta , you should always priories your health above all else" Your vitals need to be checked to ascertain your fitness to resume work tomorrow, I cannot have you disrupting the hospital by having a fainting fit, just because you refused to rest". Evangeline checked Lauretta's vitals and it seemed stable enough for her to start light work around the hospital. 

The rest of the training Lauretta would need , she would have to teach her or the other healthcare assistants could help her. Luna slowly took in the woman bustling around and prescribing drugs for her,she was about 5"4 , Petite, with an air of grace, her hair was a Silver-gray, braided down her back. Her Warm brown, filled with wisdom, skin was dusky and weathered with age and experience.

She handed Luna some blood medication and then went back to work, Luna quietly got up to retired back to her room but Evangeline stopped her " I noticed you still have poison in your system ". Luna's heart hammered in her chest, she was too afraid to breathe, did that happen before or during the rogue attack". Evangelines's piercing gaze didn't leave her face for a moment.

Luna's mind went momentarily blank as she panicked, she opened her mouth and lied , I cannot remember, even those words sounded hollow to her on ears but Evangeline seemed to buy it, temporary amnesia do happen when somebody suffers extreme traumatic experience. 

If you do remember anything or you want to talk about it, you always have a listening ear here, Luna thanked her and almost bolted out of the room after lingering for a while so as not to appear too eager to get away.She didn't breath properly until she was half way back to her room, were she ran into Erica who was hurrying towards the direction of her room.

She looked happy and she radiantly glowed like a woman who was in love , and well taken care off. Erica pulled her into a hug, when she released her, she inquired about her health and Luna informed her that she was better. Erica apologized for not being able to come sooner and confided in her that she snuck out after her husband went for the meeting that Alpha Marcus announced.
