Chapter 41. Chazz it Up!!
Chazz grunted while taking Blast’s attack to his chest. “With that I end my turn, your move!” Jayden cheered along with plenty of the academy. Chazz glanced at his life points on his Duel Disk, and his hand. He looked at his cards with a frown. It was trash from what I could tell. He didn’t look happy with what he could do next. He finally bit the bullet, and drew his card. “I Draw!” He yelled with a frown. He then stared at the card in his hand. His gaze turned into surprise, then happiness. I saw a smirk creep up on his face as he gave me a glance.
“First! I’m going to activate my trap card, Ojama Delta Wear!!” Everyone in the crowd murmured with confusion. “He’s using what!?” Especially his brothers. “That little slacker is just asking for us to cut him out!” “He’s useless!” They both yelled under their breaths as everyone watched Chazz with confusion. “This allows me to bring back my Ojama Yellow that you just destroyed last turn!” With that Chazz’s Yellow Ojama was placed on the field in defense position. “Thanks for coming back for me boss!” He yelled in his aggravating voice.

“Now, I’ll use Ojamagic, to get Ojama Black, and Ojama Green from my deck to my hand!” Jayden was confused about the new, strange cards that Chazz was using, and looked to be at a loss for words which was a first. “You see Jayden, even the weakest cards can become powerful when I wield them!!” Chazz was chuckling while about to showcase everything in this move. “Now, I’ll use polymerization! Go Ojama’s! Fuse, and form Ojama King!!” All of his Ojama’s merged together, and a gigantic egg-like creature stood in the center of the field. Everyone was silently shocked as they stared at it.

He was placed in attack position, helping to add to the confusion everyone was feeling. “Now, since he was summoned, up to three of your unoccupied monster zones are now blocked!” Suddenly large red X’s were on the field stopping Jayden from placing monsters there. “But It’s not like it matters anyway, since I’ll finish you right here!” Jayden smiled as he pointed to the giant Ojama King. “How? You still have no attack points!”
Chazz then placed down his final card. “I activate the spell card, Sword and Shield!!” I immediately knew what that card did, as it was a favorite of Joey’s that I gave to Chazz. I stood up in my seat with surprise, and disbelief. ‘He really beat him…’ Chazz continued explaining the spell while Alexis and Blair looked at me with just as much shock and confusion. “This switches all monsters' attack and defense on the field!” Jayden’s jaw dropped a bit as he saw monsters’ attack and defense values flip, but he was more astonished by Ojama King’s attack now.

“Now! Ojama King! Destroy his Masked Hero!!” Ojama King looked at Blast, and opened his gaping mouth. He then shot out a beam from his mouth, destroying Blast, and the rest of Jayden’s life points.

Everyone from North Academy started cheering in excitement. “Chazz it up!” “Chazz it up!” However, Chazz had a strange feeling with that sword and shield card. He saw all the Ojama cards that Rakki had given him, but he completely forgot about these cards, thinking that he would never use them. However they just won him the Duel with his aggravating rival. Speaking of which, Jayden rushed over. “That was a sweet Duel! I’m guessing those Ojama cards are from Rakki?”
Jayden spoke happily, like it didn’t matter to him that he just lost. Chazz frowned while holding Shield and Sword up to Jayden. “Yea.” He said just one word, but that one word just made Jayden happier. “Same!” He yelled while holding up ‘Masked Hero Blast’ to Chazz. Chazz was still confused why Rakki would help him at all when he was also helping Jayden, but Jayden spoke without seeing the pondering look on Chazz’s face. “Man! Rakki totally loves watching others Duel the best they can!” Jayden laughed while they both looked at Rakki, frowning and crossing his arms. “Can’t help but wonder what else he has hidden in his own deck if he helps both of us with ours.”
Chazz looked at Jayden while he was staring with respect for his friend in the bleachers. ‘Was that really it?’ Chazz had a hard time accepting that somebody wanted to help both sides for some good purpose. Being raised in his influential family, taught him that everyone had ulterior motives. His old ‘friends’ clearly only were close to him to make themselves stronger, and when they were, they tossed him aside. ‘Because that’s the way the world works.’ He wasn’t going to lie, and say that it didn’t make him feel bitter, but he understood their position, even if he didn’t like it.
Chazz also knew that the only way to gain respect was to be the one with power. That was how he garnered respect here, and how he got it in North Academy. There was just one outlier that stuck with him. He looked up, passed his brother’s slowly moving down the bleachers, and to the scowling man behind them. Part of him thought that Rakki was lying when he was explaining his respect, but some part of Chazz wanted to believe it. He knew that Jayden had Rakki’s respect, but to have respect for someone that you didn’t like was something Chazz couldn’t understand. ‘No… Maybe I do…’ He thought as he glanced at his smirking brothers.
“Well there you have it ladies and gentlemen! Our little brother Chazz Princeton has traveled to the top of the Dueling!” “Even the weakest cards will be powerful in our little brother’s hands!” They both cheered for Chazz, as the camera’s slowly panned down to them lifting Chazz’s hand in the air for his victory. Chazz remembered his desire for revenge against Jayden, all the hours he spent brooding, and tinkering his deck. It had all finally paid off, but his sense of showcasing himself to be better than Jayden was lackluster. While his hand was raised in the air, he didn’t feel happy.
He glanced over at Jayden, clapping with the rest of the crowd, not batting an eye at his own loss. He then looked up at Rakki, for what reason, he didn’t even know himself. However when he did, he saw Rakki staring back at him. Rakki had an unblinking gaze, that wasn’t angry about Jayden losing, or happy that Chazz had won. It almost looked somber. ‘But what does Rakki have to be sad about?’ He pondered in silence while his brothers spoke everything to the camera’s for him. Until he remembered that gaze of understanding that Rakki had given him earlier. Chazz was connecting things together in his mind, until Rakki interrupted his brothers, and his own thoughts.
“This only goes to show that the Princeton’s are excellent at everything.” “Including being little plebeians that hide behind their own little brother!!” Everyone froze at the sudden interruption, and turned their gaze over to the person responsible. The camera’s swiveled away from the Princeton’s, to showcase a young teen around the same age as Chazz in a red jacket. He landed coolly on the ground from the bleachers where he jumped from.
Nobody made a move, nor said a word while he made his way in front of the brothers. Something stopped them, but nobody could say what it was for sure. Almost like seeing a parent mad at your sibling, or your boss chewing out a coworker. The basic instinct to this strange pressure was to be as un-noticeable as possible. “Why don’t you both stop hiding your own lack of skill for Dueling, and just stick to behind your desks where you won't be embarrassed?” He said with a sneer as he stopped walking right in front of them.
